“Of course.” Claudia replied as if it were the most normal and natural thing in the world. “I only ever come to the movies to see you, don’t you know? Hoping one of your coworkers secretly knows your cool alternative name and will one day slip up and call you by that. It’s the only thing keeping me going till the end of the week.” Her facade never faltered, the tone of her voice both serious and urgent. “Why is it a secret then? Is it important that it be a secret? Like are you part of some secret cult that only someone with a really good name could get into? I think if I had a secret name it would be Celeste. I’ve always liked it and I actually had like a board on Pinterest for what I would dress and change my hair like if I someday moved away and just decided to change my name to Celeste and change everything about me. It was the name of this girl that used to stand at the corner of a street near my house when I was little and she had like the cutest lingerie ever. Now when I was young I just loved her hair and her makeup and she was very nice but at this age I just regret that she’s gone and I’ll never be able to ask her where she got her clothes.”
Rhett chuckled at her response. “Well, I admire you dedication,” he said, although if this was a reality, it would have been more creepy than flattering. Especially, he thought, since she would’ve spent real money on this plan of hers, in addition to the time and effort. Her rant made him frown in confusing at a certain point, but he let her carry on with the anecdote which he could only assume was about a crush of hers. “No, there’s no cult,” he answered in a hurry, because he actually had a question for her that he was genuinely curious about. “Why didn’t you just say your name was Celeste then,” he asked. He certainly didn’t know her name or what Pinterest was, for that matter, but he got the idea. “Or do you have to wear the entire costume for it to be right?”
