Welcome back to my desk/jungle!! It has been a minute since I’ve posted.
My end of semester exams are coming up really soon which is really scary but also tomorrow is my last day of uni !!
Time to get on that study grind. Wish me luck

It is now 8 days until my first final and to say I’m stressed would be an understatement. I have so much to do before my exam and not much time to do it but here’s to hoping I get it all done!
For physio, I have 4 theory exams and 2 practical exams over a 2 week period and then, finally, I’ll have a holiday!!
Wishing everyone else with exams good luck as well!

My current desk situation ft. my plant obsession
(I actually had to move three plants to another table because I was running out of room)

My uni life has officially started!! Tomorrow I will be continuing my 30 days of productivity challenge! Day 5, here I come!
Re: 30 days of productivity
This will be on hold until I actually start university.

30 days of productivity - 4/30
It’s no surprise I had work again, from 12pm-9:30pm and it was hectic. Why are so many people eating out these days. Homecooking is the way to go (I’m just kidding)!! I did some art in the morning and maybe I’ll post pictures in the future. Besides that, I didn’t get anything else done.
Also, I’ve been thinking of making an instagram but would anyone be interested in following it?? Please let me know... or don’t, it’s up to you.

30 days of productivity - 3/30
I had work today from 1pm-10pm (big surprise) but I did manage to accomplish a few small things that I had been meaning to catch up on. Here is my desk set up that you may or may not appreciate: personal preference. Again, not mentally stimulating but I have been diligent with my daily journal entries and I finally got around to organising all my financial and work related paperwork.
These days I don’t have the motivation or energy to exercise so my restaurant job is the only way for me to get my steps up and it is the only reason I have been hitting my daily 10,000 step goal.
Not excited for work tomorrow but such is life.

30 days of productivity - 2/30
I’ll be honest, I didn’t do anything mentally stimulating today because I was out of the house from 10:30am-10:30pm. But in my defence, I was socially active when I went out for breakfast with my sister and my best friend and I was at work from 11:30am-10:10pm.
Hopefully tomorrow I’ll be able to study some more Chinese before my shift at work!!

30 days of productivity - 1/30
Today I read 5 chapters of my Chinese book. I recently finished reading a Chinese book of proverbs and idioms (成语故事) and today I started reading about the legendary 孙悟空. I also traced a page of Chinese idioms and copied them out freehand in a separate book.
Right now, I am working in a Chinese restaurant so hopefully I can improve my speaking skills + I have to learn the menu in Chinese. I think it’s achievable?

I haven’t posted anything or studied for many many weeks now but that’s because I have been absolutely swamped at work. I work 2 jobs right now and I kinda enjoy it?
Anyway, yesterday was Chinese New Year!! 恭喜发财,猪年快乐!
With the new lunar year comes a hopefully new and improved me! Uni is starting in a few weeks and now is the perfect time to figure out how to juggle study and work, which leads me to commence... a 30 days of productivity challenge!! I will be starting this tomorrow, so wish me luck!!

This is an example of my bio notes that I used to study for the first core topic. I’m a visual learner so I find it really helpful to include diagrams in my notes. I think the process of drawing out simplified diagrams forces you to understand the content that you are studying and also makes it more memorable and easy to recall in a test. In general, looking over diagrams is a much faster way to revise a concept as opposed to reading a wall of text.
I also find that a nice format for my notes makes me want to look at them more often leading to... knowledge!!

Whenever I am studying for a test, I always find it really helpful to rewrite my notes on my syllabus. This is really useful for content heavy subjects, like PDHPE, biology or chemistry for example, and makes sure you have studied every dotpoint that could be tested. It is also a really good way to just revise and memorise content right before an exam.
Just something that really helped me during my finals, it may not be your style!!

These days, I’ve been studying a bit of physics in preparation for starting my physio course in uni soon and I do this for about 1.5-2hrs every morning.
Right now I am using the Cornell method of notetaking to see if it is the right system for me to use during uni lectures in the future. I initially had a section at the bottom of the page for summaries but personally, this isn’t something I would normally use, so I modified the format to just have the page split in two columns. In the left column, I write down the syallbus dotpoint I’m studying, as well as extra notes and tips that help with my understanding. The right hand column is just to do notes as usual wih whatever format you tend to use. I am using the outline method right now, which is pretty standard.
Also, is it just me or is it easier to get work done in the mornings cause after I have lunch, I fall into a sort of slump and end up spending 4hrs on Youtube until it’s time to start preparing for dinner.

I’ve always wanted to improve my Chinese handwriting and I’m using an idioms book I bought in Shanghai last year to hopefully make my writing look more presentable.
I copy out one page per day on tracing paper and then I copy it out freehand twice more in an exercise book before looking up the words I don’t know.
Fun fact: Shanghai’s Fu Zhou Rd (福州路) has a street of bookstores, including foreign bookstores, calligraphy stores and art supply stores.
Hello 2019

Time to do some serious study!!
As per my New Year’s resolutions (cause who doesn’t make those), I will do my best to study Chinese and Korean while managing my first year of uni.
Let’s gooo!!
