I should properly warn the pic is like ten years old and that comic con doesnāt even exist anymore, but the cosplay itself is lovingly stored in a drawer in my room labeled āNatasha Romanova.ā

Sam fans, Steve fans, Steve anti-fans and the rest of the MCU-only fans really should stop using this out-of-context comic book panel to emphasize that "Sam is now the real Captain America." Because the context is different.
That's not Steve Rogers saying this. Specifically: That's Steve Rogers saying this, not our good old Steve Rogers, but Steve who was Captain Hydra and believed he was raised in a fanatical Hydra cult from childhood, because this panel comes from the Pleasant Hill comic event and takes place shortly after Kobik de-aged Steve and turned him into a Hydra agent.
By posting this panel you are literally saying that "This fanatical nazi who wanted Sam and all heroes to fail said Sam was real Captain America, so we agree with this nazi and, like him, we hope Sam fails."
Because that's literally the true context of this scene. So no, you definitely don't want "it definitely happened on Doomsday" :P
It's 2026 and people are still using this on X as an example of what Steve should do on Doomsday and think that this scene meaning something good. It really doesn't hurt to know the contextā¦
I will never cease to be impressed by what happened in that scene.
Bucky was completely lost, terrified and in pain. Not only mentally, but physically as well. His prosthetic arm was damaged, his human arm was ripped from its socket and his ribs were likely broken from the weight of the beam that had crushed him. He jumped dozens, if not hundreds of meters into the water where the Helicarriers were falling and with both arms damaged he found the strength to not only to swim, but also to pull Steve to the surface and tow him to shore, which was far, far away.
Do you know how impressive that is?
It's not just physical strength, as Hydra likely pushed him beyond his limits many times, but the mental strength he found within himself at that moment. And how much he loved Steve Rogers to bring to do it. Platonic or romantic, however you prefer to interpret it.
I will always be impressed by this, even now, 12 years later.
Both the Russos and Sebastian have said that Bucky does not remember Steve at this point. He is only amazed, shocked, and overwhelmed that anyone would ever be on his side.
He doesnāt remember anyone not trying to control or fight him so Steve saying, āIām with you till the end of the lineā has shaken up everything he knows. So he thinks that guy is probably not someone he wants to see drown right now.

So Buckyās birthday was two weeks ago and I remembered these adorable panels from the comics where friends family throw Bucky a birthday party.
They are super heartwarming. I mean, look.
And I have almost no experience with any kind of photoshopping so I donāt know what Iām doing, but I had fun making an MCU (+Kobik +Alpine) version. (I donāt know what Rhodey and Banner are looking at. Donāt ask.)
I know it needs a lot of work, but it still warms my heart. Hope it warms yours.

Huge shout out to all the people who read fics. Who actually take the time out of their busy days to open a fic and read it
Before I started writing in earnest, I did not understand how much writing was going to eat into my fic reading time. We joke about having too many tabs open, but I have a different problem: the amount of tabs I have open on new fics is way smaller than it used to be. My ao3 wrapped would be a sad affair. Unless Iāve subscribed to an author or come across something on my dash, I basically donāt see it
Which has really driven home for me how much fandom cannot just be creators. You have to have people who want to read fic and meta discussions and joke posts. You have to have people who want to look at art and gifs. It has to be mutual.
Community thrives on flow. You have to have that movement of people sharing things with each other for a community to exist

I wouldnāt read fics for almost two years one time because I was writing a long fic.
One day, I gave in and read a fic everyone was talking about. And it did exactly what I expected. I never did finish that long fic. I still want to, but so much of the fandom landscape has changed since I started writing it. Idk about it anymore.
But Iāve noticed I can do one thing or the other. Either I can read it or I can write it. Something is going to suffer. So when people say they donāt write fic, I always ask if they read it. If no one is reading it, what am I even wasting my time on?
Please read fic. Please comment on it or share it. We need those out there consuming. Itās part of what makes a community a community.

I know people may not remember this, since the popular memory of that film is mostly that Sebastian Stan as The Winter Soldier looks hot and sad and looks cool as fuck when he kills people. However, I really need people to remember this because it's making me insane when I remember that the main plot of that movie is Steve Rogers discovering that a group of fascists are behind an AI program that is going to be used by the US government to āpredictā if a crime is going to occur and eliminate the potential perpetrators before the crime even happens. And in response to that discovery, the heroes of that movie, as in the people you the audience are meant to align with, choose to become enemies of the state over allegiance to a government that would use fascist-designed predictive technology. Again, that was such a mainstream and accepted position that even Captain America himself was against it. But nowā¦but now...ha. Just over 10 years later, you have Palatir, Stargate LLC, Oracle, Open AI - all these massive software companies run by some of the richest, most openly fascist fuckers on Earth - and they're all being awarded massive government and military contracts around the world to further develop generative tech to weaponise on mass populations. In places like Palestine, that's already been a reality for many years. But there's no meaningful resistance to the rise in power of these companies or this tech. In fact, most people are giddily feeding this tech their data in exchange for a perceived convenience. Motherfuckers use chatgpt to ask whether they should scratch their ass, and to think for them at higher and higher rates and we know how that data will be used because those tech companies openly brag about it with the president of United States. Andā¦.. please, please, can anyone hear me??? it used to be so agreed upon that all this was bad that a CAPTAIN AMERICA MOVIE funded by the US military no less told you it was bad.
