and I found like, twelve ebooks I’ve been wanting to read on there, and blasted through like three of them during the course of a boring-ass shift.

Wouldn’t this be bad for authors though? or is this like a normal library where they get /some/ money?

It’s like a normal library. Libraries can upload ebooks there and let people check them out through openlibrary if you have an openlibrary account, or it can point you to nearby libraries that have physical copies of the book for you to go and check out. If you check out books via openlibrary it counts towards the count of books checked out from the library that uploaded the ebook, and they can use it in their reporting and funding and stuff.

There’s like 150 libraries partnered with openlibrary so far.

They also have copies that you can check out if you are print-disabled.

You can also ‘sponsor a book’, which means you pay the cost of the ebook you want openlibrary to acquire, and then they can add it to their collection and let people check it out.

"Nico I can't let you do this!" Will held Nico's arm back. Nico shrugged him off. "Will I'm doing this! I want to live in peace, don't you?"

"How is destroying the elevator to the penthouse of the empire state building going to bring us peace?" Will was pacing back and forth in front of the elevator doors so Nico couldn't get any closer.

"If the gods can't get to earth they can't make more enemies so nobody will be after us. We won't have to go on crazy quests and have to face death as teenagers! Your dad got that, can't you just think it over?" Nico grabbed Will's arms and looked into his eyes, pleading with him to understand.

"You know what, you're right." Will's eyes had a mischevious grin. "I have a better idea though." He grabbed Nico's hand and dragged him to the edge of the viewing deck. "What if we blew the whole top off the building? That way the connection to Olympus is completely severed and it will take years before they can fix it."

Nico stared open mouthed at Will. It was a much more sinister idea and would buy them much more time together. He grinned wickedly and gave Will a passionate kiss. "I don't think I could love you any more than I do right now."

"Keep it together, we have a roof to implode." Will held Nico's hands and closed his eyes. "Ok focus on sharing my energy." Nico closed his eyes and felt a warmth spreading from Will's hands into his body. He pulled the shadows towards himself, knowing that Will's light would keep him anchored. He cast the shadows across the penthouse then opened his eyes to watch. He nudged Will so he could also watch. They stood holding hands as the penthouse roof started caving in, both grinning from ear to ear. "Should have brought you over to the dark side a long time ago Sunshine." "Let's go Death Boy! We've got a lifetime together to get started."

Fierce, stormy grey eyes pulled me right in and I struggled to look away. Lowering my eyes I saw a gorgeous pair of rose pink lips and my mind wondered to what they would feel like pressed to mine. Then they were and my mind went blank, I was wrapped in a warm fog and there was no way I was going to pull myself away -

I blinked at the light pressure on my shoulder. Those still beautiful stormy grey eyes were looking at me with slight concern, all hint of the ferocity long gone. "Where were you love? You looked like you were off on another planet."

I looked down at the baby fast asleep in my arms and smiled. "Not another planet no" I replied, "I was just remembering how when I met you I never wanted to let you go."

"Remus, we've been together for 15 years and we have 4 beautiful children. I think it's safe to say you're stuck with me now!" Sirius replied with a smirk and a chuckle.

"And I wouldn't have it any other way. I love you my star" I said in a gentle but assertive voice.

"And I will always love you my moon!"
