The Harassment
So about 6 months ago, we had to deal with the wackiest customer I’ve ever had to deal with. The first time I encountered this lady, she walked up to me while I was talking to another coworker about the refund policy (a customer tried to return a final sale item 10 minutes prior). She started staring at me until I finished the conversation. I thought she needed help with something so I asked if I could help her. She then asked if I was talking about another customer. I told her I was telling my coworker about the details of the return policy. She then made me recite the ENTIRE return policy, then went and bought some chips and Benedryl at the self-checkout. I walked away right then but then one of the cashiers had to refund EVERYTHING she just purchased from the self-checkout. I had to authorize the refund, though I was very confused. She then WENT BACK INTO THE STORE and grabbed some other things, purchased them, REFUNDED THEM AGAIN (though this time it didn’t need authorization so I didn’t know about this until later on), then bought MORE stuff and left the store. A couple hours later, she CALLS our store and I pick up. She asked me what the return policy was (and this is when I recognized her voice), so I explained again. She asked, if she opened a bag of chips and ate some of them, could she return them. I said no, the items need to be in perfect selling condition to make the refund. I then hear her EATING THE CHIPS and while she had her mouth full, told me she didn’t want to return them anyway and hung up. I get another call 10 minutes later and it’s the same woman! she asked if she ate a whole bag of chips, can she return them. I told her no, we can’t sell an empty bag! She then asks to speak to the pharmacist and I transfer her. 5 minutes after that, I got a call from another customer who needed help with an item so I transferred him to a merchandiser. I then walked into the pharmacy and the pharmacist asked me immediately if that was the same lady. I said nooooo but I can tell there’s a story involved. The pharmacist then proceeds to tell me that she has called and harassed him and the other pharmacist every 5-10 minutes for the past FIVE DAYS. She must have called about 500 times total in the span of an entire week. Finally, the next day, the pharmacist finally told her that we can no longer help her and if she had any more questions, she should direct them to Ontario Telehealth and hung up. She hasn’t called back, but I feel really bad for the people that run Telehealth!
