I am so tired of short-attention-span, trim-the-fat culture. All writing advice these days is for how to write like Chuck Palahniuk. "Cut 'think', cut 'feel', cut 'wonder' - only action, only pushing forward, show and move and move and move." What if I could emulate this style, and still don't want to? What if I want to write like Henry James, with three paragraphs of introspective musings between each dialogue line? The music advice is, "make it shortform, make it Tik-Tok compatible, make it punchy, hit the refrain as soon as possible." What if I want that 10-minute prog rock piece? What if I want that symphony? What if I want it slow and luxurious and lazy? Movies. Series. Poetry. Bodies. Everything is "trimmed trimmed trimmed trimmed, stripped bare, you have three seconds to win me over, make it airport chic." I don't want to win you over, then, I guess. I want the fat left it. I want the pleasure and the indolence and the indulgence. Fuck this art-advice that's always "your art needs Ozempic."

Reading the Wikipedia pages for 1910s films is like
"Made on a budget of $75, the film was an unexpected smash hit, selling out theaters across the country. Thought lost after a vault fire in Paris in 1954, a full print was discovered in a Brazilian nursing home in 2013, where it was being used as a doorstop."
It's wild blueberry season in Sweden and I've been picking and eating my fill everyday from the forest behind my house! The entire forest floor is covered in wild blueberry bushes and the tangy taste is so cosmic, I had to paint themâš Photos of the berries I picked!

also btw. if you start drawing and (physical limitations such as injury or illness aside) all your art is inexplicably feeling stiff or uninspired when you were fine before. the reason is not that youre suddenly just bad at art. its because youve just started drawing for the day/session. nobody wakes up and immediately starts sprinting around full speed to work out, theres a reason 'warmups' are a thing both in sports and art.
basically, dont quit just yet if your 'light jog' art isnt the same as your 'full sprint' art was yesterday. youll get back into it.
at this point my emoji reactions are more of a sign of my reading comprehension than anything else.

stop letting miserable people on the internet convince you that you must have a concrete, well-constructed opinion on everything that has ever existed.

Experimented a bit with a new way of detailing the tiles. Kinda like it? This particular piece took a hell of a lot of work. Iâd love if you shared the vibes itâs giving off, for research purposes đ

Intelligent alien species based on bugs but specifically those moths that donât have mouths and only live for a week after they pupate. This speciesâ whole conscious life is actually in the larval phase; larvae are the ones considered people, larvae are the ones with conscious and complex brains who build society, and each instar of the larva is treated as a different phase of life. Larvae become emotionally and socially and cognitively mature without ever becoming sexually mature. When they pupate, they metamorphose into something different and strange and close to mindless, with no mouth and no digestive system, whose only instincts are to mate and then quickly die. Metamorphosis is treated, functionally, like a personâs death, and the imago phase is a kind of proto-afterlife of majestic flight and the continuation of the species. Birth and death inextricably intertwined. Sex is not something people do during their lives, itâs a thing that is done as an imago after youâve passed on from your life but before you return to the soil in death. Resultant eggs are collected by family members to raise. I think this would be fun.
