Hello everyone.. I am sorry for the barrage / I am sorry for remaking my shops post.. but I miscalculated how much my severance would be / they did not take my w-8 ben into account which meant I will pay taxes both in the philippines and the US.. I was left with almost nothing... I am the sole caretaker of a family of four in the global south.. I have a job lined up but theyll only start paying in two months if they like my work.. I am posting again because I have a life limiting disability which puts my life at risk if I am not medicated (I do not have a thyroid and need to be on synthetic thyroid hrmones.) I also have diabetes which is so close to remission.. under my care is my mothwr who is not independent and has a brain injury from sepsis.. and my sister, our two beautiful cats.. I do not have any other family who will help outside of my partner.. my only other family who are willing to help are incapable of.. Im asking folk who are in a more fortunate position to come please give me a boost, rb this, pick up prints or give me a tip if you so would like.. thank you so much

Made this bc I have been trying to take meds only every other day- I take metformin twice a day, liver supplements and levothyroxine. It did not work, I knew it wouldnt; but I did it as a sort of hail mary. I feel very weak, upset, and cognitively impaired.

PH givernment insurance only gives out 328 usd a year, which should be fine but my mother has a brain injury from sepsis / liver failure, which eats up so much of my income, as I am her sole caretaker. Would appreciate any share! Everything goes to my meds and my fanily's healthcare. I swear to G-d when I am in a better position I will repay the community. I feel like starfish are one of those animals that are treated as very “normal” by people but absolutely shouldn’t be. Like they’re a wheel of repeating heads connected by a central stomach. They walk around using thousands of tiny sticky hydraulically powered tentacles. They have an eye on the end of each arm. Instead of having a mouth they just have an opening where their entire stomach can be pushed out to engulf prey. And they’re just allowed to exist like this. It’s not illegal or anything.

I'm at a convention for the game of Go with a friend who is almost 84 years old, and he is constantly being accosted by elementary schoolers who want to play him because every year there is a prize for whoever plays a game with the biggest age difference between players.

So every time I go to look for him, I see this:

People in the tags pointing out that this is a great way to get communities to interact: you are extremely correct. There were a lot of kids at this year's go congress (many of them extremely strong players) and it's very funny to watch them roving in packs looking for old people to challenge. At one point when my friends and I were sitting in one of the side rooms, a trio of elementary schoolers marched in and shouted "IS ANYONE HERE OVER FIFTY?"

Maryland's Mallows Bay, is a designated national marine sanctuary, has an intriguing history. This 18-square-mile park is filled with the remains of over 100 wooden, flat-bottom ships from World War I, making it the largest ship graveyard in the Western Hemisphere. Today, it is a wildlife oasis.

I did the usual "hmm, is this real, tell me more" about this and found the Mallows Bay Shipwreck Water Trail site, which has photos, videos, and also 3D models of the shipwrecks! Super cool.
