[ID: A four page comic of Travis and Gable sitting at a table and drinking. [Note: This is lengthy.]
Travis: “And here’s the really funny part— [extended em dash] there’s a lot that in hindsight is just hysterical but this bit still gets me,”
Travis is shown looking into his glass. “I almost had-“ His words turn into scribbles. There’s a sloppy second speech bubble where the scribbles continue and eventually turn into a black mess.
Travis, from off panel: “*sigh.*”
A small wide-shot panel of Travis sliding something to Gable across the table.
A close up of the object: a plaque that says, “a kid.”
A larger panel that shows the previous plaque as well as a new one that says, “I almost had a kid.”
Medium shot of Gable from the perspective of Travis. They are holding the plaques in each hand. “Oh. Uh. Sorry for your loss?”
Travis, arms crossed and head tilted back: “That’s the funny thing. I don’t know about loss. I never wanted to be a parent. [The words “parent” hangs crooked in the speech bubble]. Not like I would’ve been a good one.”
Wide shot above the table showing their hands but not their faces.
“I don’t think that’s true.”
“Come on Gable I’m only telling you this because I can usually trust you not to bullshit me.”
“Jonnit’s not a child. And he has a real family already. He can take care of himself, really all we do is give him bad advice and let him get into life threatening situations.”
Travis lifts one of his hands from where his arms are crossed on the table and rests his head in the hand. “And not to make this even more of a Travwilliam sob story hour than it already is but i don’t exactly have a great example of fatherhood to look up to.”
Travis has his head face down on the table and his hands in his hair. His drink is spilled. From here on for the rest of the page, the handwriting for Travis’s speech is much sloppier. “And I haven’t even gotten into the [scribble]. Fuck. I don’t know what I would’ve done if I had to watch it get older than me.”
Travis crosses his arms in front of where his head rests on the table. “I don’t know why I’m still thinking about this it’s fine it didn’t happen. I got out of it i got out of the house i weasel out of everything one way or another.”
Wide shot of Gable holding a large jug.
Travis, off panel: “Can you pass me that jug on the floor.”
“Travis this is what we used to get the scmolluck off the boat.”
“What? It’s not gonna kill me. You drink up too I don’t want you remembering this conversation either.” /end ID]
