HEY PEOPLE! I'VE ASCENDED A NEW LEVEL OF WOKE AND I'M HEAR TO TELL YOU ABOUT IT!! SO HAVE A LOVELY HOT TAKE FRESH FROM THE OVEN!
Straight, Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Pan, etc.
Any label that we've given our self only serves to divide us and ultimate be our ruin.
Now I know you're thinking that this is a wild start but just hear me out for a second. If we truly believe that love is love no matter what then why do we practically say "love is love but I experience it different"
Like... yeah? Of course you do?
And contrary to popular belief it's not because your queer, it's because you're a person. No one experiences attraction and love the same way so why do we need labels to explain that?
They have, from the very beginning, only served to make us seem different from others when we quite literally are not. I mean, a couple and a gay couple are both couples so why do people feel the need to specify that one is different?
It is quite literally just internalized homophobia and sexism straight from the beginning. If we never put pressure on afab kids to become women and amab kids to become men then where would we be? Obviously gender wouldn't particularly matter, would it?
There wouldn't be labels because no one would fucking care because it's all just normal behavior. It's normal to love someone and it's normal to want to be comfortable in your own skin so why should anyone give a shit? Why should it be considered different from anyone else when it's not?
Labels give into gender roles, promote sexism, and internalized homophobia.
The truth is queer people are not different and that's fine. You are not different for loving someone. You are not different for having favored pronouns. You are not different for wanting to change your name. You are not different for wanting to be comfortable in your skin and home.
Everyone should be treated with kindness and respect. Everyone should be able to care for others in the way that they feel comfortable.
You don't need labels for that. We never did.
It only pushed us away from each other.
In my personal opinion we should demolish all gender and sexuality labels in general. All it does is trap others in specific perceptions and keep us separated when we should all feel entitled to being considered a normal person. Of course I'm not opposed to hearing others opinions as well. I want a broader perspective so if there's anything for anyone to add then go ahead I won't see it as rude at all. This is just my sight of things as they are so enlighten me if I'm incorrect.
