Yesterday my boyfriend told me "you're not any less of a person just because you can do less things" and I wanted to pass that reminder on to other physically and mentally ill/disabled people who might need to hear it.

everything starts with you wanting to get better
If you have depression and find yourself taking naps often due to chronic fatigue I just wanna remind you that you aren’t wasting time. You aren’t running out of time. You need rest, you need to catch up on the energy that you spend fighting your depression. It’s all gonna be okay. Life is long, you’re not wasting it by sleeping a little more often.
Gentle reminder that when there is chaos in the world it's even more important than usual to take time for yourself. Take a break from the news. Take a breath of fresh air. Remind yourself that we will get through this.
“The deep roots never doubt spring will come.”
You don’t have to feel guilty for not being as productive as humanly possible right now. It’s important to rest. You need to rest.
okay girls let’s go to therapy
little notes for when you’re sad:
you have always gotten back up from rock bottom on your own, it just took some time. bad times won’t last forever.
some days are unexpectedly better than others for no particular reason - the future is not completely bleak, there will be beautiful days sprinkled in no matter what you’re going through
it takes time to mend your heart, love yourself and grow into the person you hope to become. it’s ok to have hiccups along the way, it means you’re doing your best.
it’s possible to create a comforting & meaningful life for yourself with what you have at the moment. you may not see it, but sometimes we can be so busy comparing ourselves and wishing we had more things, but forgetting what we do have.
the future is bright, and holds wonderful things for you, though you may doubt it. the universe may surprise you, so don’t lose hope.
If you lost your teenage years to mental illness and/or trauma, I just want you to know that you did not "miss out on the best years of your life" and that it isn't actually too late for you to have fun, explore yourself and grow into the person you want to be. There's still plenty of time for all of that. I promise.
resist the urge to give up on healing just because it is slow

things to remember: they care because they love you
Little things that help moods:
- getting enough sunshine - opening the curtains - eating regular meals - short walks with your favourite music - don’t stay up until 3am - don’t try to relate to tumblr text posts - get off tumblr/social media if it’s unhealthy - shower - don’t stay in bed the whole day - plan out your day - listen to music - change your clothes - set yourself small goals - say yes to fun events - drink water, it takes 5 seconds - talk to a close friend - remind yourself: a bad mood can lie to you - you’re not unwanted or hopeless - you deserve love so be nice to yourself
