I Read (Almost) Anything

I am an eclectic reader. This is my list of books I’m currently reading according to Goodreads, which is a sample of the wide variety of books I read.

One day I will finish all these books and the roughly 200 or so books in my To-Be-Read piles. Plus the myriad of books on my Kindle.

I love rewatching Disney’s Hercules because there are so many easter eggs. Take this opening scene on Mt. Olympus, for example. There’s Poseidon, Apollo, and Demeter chatting, Athena letting her owl drink from her goblet, Artemis playing with a stag, Ares looking broody, Aphrodite and Hephaestus hanging (they were actually married in Greek mythology), and Dionysus getting the spit scared out of him. There probably are other references in this scene but I can’t spot them right now.

I was rewatching some of Season 2 of Yu Yu Hakusho and I literally just realized the cards say Nintendo on them.

So my mom has been a very big Negative Nancy since she got home from Florida. Last night she came in my room looking for a book that she has to read for her Book Club for next month (which I actually didn’t have, gasp!) and she was looking at my piles of To Be Read books and basically told me that I’m never going to be able to read all these books, ever. 

So now of course I have to make a challenge out if it and prove her wrong. Because I can and I will read all these books. Or at least try to. Some of them might not be read through completely and that is okay. But I am giving each of these books a fair chance.  Some of them might take me a couple years to read, especially the 1000+ page books (you may see I have Les Miserables in there), but I’m not expecting to finish the books within a year or two. I realize it’s going to take me a couple years to read all these books (and I’ll probably buy more in the meantime because I have a weakness for buying new books and I need a variety). But these are the books of my To-Be Read piles, organized by how many pages and if they’re difficult or easy to read based on my interests, etc. There is also a stash of gay romance books not pictured that is hiding under my bed because I don’t want my family to know I read those. 

There are currently 257 books that are either in my To-Be-Read piles or are books that I’ve started and haven’t finished yet. It may seem like a lot, but not impossible. My goal is to read at least 60 books this year and for the record, I’ve already read 27 books this year and it’s only April. So I’m well on my way to surpassing that goal. 

So screw you, Mom, I am going to prove you wrong and finish reading all these books because I can.  

EDIT: I forgot a couple of books that I just bought and the book I keep in my purse. The grand total of books is 262.

Just My Luck

I went to the library to pick up a travel book on Rome that I had put on hold and it wasn’t where it was supposed to be. Nor could any of the librarians find it when I told them that the book wasn’t where it was supposed to be. If it was going to happen to someone, it was going to happen to me. 

I swear, if it turns out that someone took the book from the hold shelf, I will be very very angry. You don’t just take a book like that from someone, especially if they’ve placed a hold on it.

I was rewatching the opening to Season 26 Episode 14 My Fare Lady again and I realized that in addition to the angel Frank Grimes glaring at Homer, there was the Be Sharps singing on the roof of Moe’s. So I went back again and looked closely at the opening and holy cow the details. There are so many little details crammed into this opening, so many references to previous episodes and some other neat little details. 

Nelson is holding a stick of dynamite  and Rod (or Todd I can’t tell which one he is) is holding a Bible. 

Angel Maude and also Millhouse is a bush. 

Princess Kashmir from Season 1′s episode “Homer’s Night Out”

The Be Sharps are singing on the roof of Moe’s (from Season 5′s Episode “Homer’s Barbershop Quartet”). 

The Lard Lad sign is winking which is a little creepy.

Stampy the elephant and the leader of the secret society from Season 6′ episode “Homer the Great”.

Superintendent Chalmers is holding a Super Nintendo as a reference to when Ralph called him “Super Nintendo Chalmers” (I don’t know the episode of that) and the snakes from “Whacking Day” (don’t know what season).

Watch out for that rake, Sideshow Bob...

Also there’s Hank Scorpio from “You Only Move Twice”, Lyle Lannley from “Marge vs the Monorail”, Troy McClure, Artie Ziff, and the lamb from “Lisa the Vegetarian”. And Sideshow Bob is talking to the patient who thought he was Michael Jackson in “Stark Raving Dad”. 

There’s the lawyer Lionel Hutz  from “Bart Gets Hit By a Car” (and I think he’s shown up in other episodes too), the country singer Lurleen Lumpkin, and Dr. Marvin Monroe. 

Feel free to add any corrections or other references I missed. I know there are some that I just don’t get.

So I made a Looming Darkness room and then this happened. The Fat Bandit is literally stuck between those two stalls.I have never known a Heartless in the field to get stuck like that.

So apparently, Cookie Clicker froze during the night so when I came back to my computer this morning, I was greeted by this terrifying sight.

There are a lot of hilarious moments from Fruits Basket so here is angry Kyo-cat in a laundry basket because even Kyo-cat likes laundry baskets.

My cast of characters has gone from being a bisexual cross dresser, a straight man, a gay man who insists he’s straight, and a straight woman to a bisexual gender fluid individual, a bisexual man, a gay man who insists he’s straight, and an asexual woman. I don’t have a problem with this, it’s just that it’s quite a leap.

Yup

I was going through a basket full of old story papers and I found a small piece of paper and on that piece of paper was written “poisoned pizza”. No other context. I have no earthly idea what I was going to do with poisoned pizza. It’ll probably always remain a mystery

My character was supposed to be a straight “good boy” who never does anything wrong, doesn’t smoke, drink, do drugs, do anything reckless, etc. in contrast to his bisexual, gender fluid, troublemaking twin brother, but nooooooooo he’s turned into a borderline alcoholic, stress smoking, pretending to be nice but really isn’t, bisexual pain in the ass just like his brother.
