Ummmm it’s not dumb. Do you realize how many gifts they get? They can’t possibly use all of them…They’re not saying that they don’t appreciate it but like what can one person do with 10 new iphones, 3 brand new game consoles, 100s of clothes/jewelry, etc.? You think they have room for all of the gifts in the first place? If we’re talking about chocolates then I don’t think they can just go ahead and accept that anyway due to people trying to poison idols in the past. It’s just a safety precaution. They’d rather have fans donate in their name, write letters, or have fans spend money on themselves instead. Don’t view it as them being ungrateful but instead view it as them being conscious of how their fans support them. I’m also going to post something I saw on twitter that i liked a lot too.
