Rick Riordan come over here. No. Come here. Sit down.
What fucking color is Scipio.
I fully understand that this man is not a horse nerd and thus we don't have an actual technical coat color but the one (1) physical description we do have is the most hysterically unhelpful thing in the world because. Okay so.
Scipio is Reyna's first pegasus, right. And unfortunately, in what is CLEARLY intended as a lighthearted one-off gag...
...the one physical thing we know about Scipio is that he's "the color of peanut butter". We know this because of a side gag that the Legion calls him "Skippy" as a result, and Reyna haaaaaaaates it.
Now.
I KNOW this was just a joke. I KNOW it wasn't meant to be important. But I have spent HOURS of my life with a jar of peanut butter on the counter and coat-color genetics charts open in multiple tabs
And I have concluded that there are only two options here.
1: Rick Riordan has somehow managed by sheer bad luck to identify the one, singular shade of brown that does not naturally occur in horses. 2: There is something VERY wrong with that man's peanut butter.
The CLOSEST you could potentially get is like...a very dark palomino, maybe? A dilute chestnut? They don't really get close to what I would consider, uh, edible peanut-butter color. Palomino to peanut is a hell of stretch when "blonde" or even "golden" or "sandy" is right there, and red duns look....well, red.
Now. Every single horse girl in the series (Percy counts) who comes into even brief contact with Scipio is left with the immediate impression that he's stunningly beautiful. Hazel is full-on sick with envy.
Because of this I can only conclude that Scipio is meant to be a buckskin???
However I absolutely cannot interpret Scipio as a buckskin because there's no way in hell anyone would describe a TRUE BUCKSKIN as being the color of peanut butter. Buckskins look like liquid fucking gold.
(Which, like, you're not wrong, Rick. If a horse girl had to live in camp with a winged buckskin stallion and wasn't even allowed to touch him that would actually almost be worse than the literal bloodline curse Hazel seperately also does have.)
I'm going with he's a particularly rich golden dun for my own sanity.
every kane chronicles character really just characters so hard like hello? rick did not have to go this hard writing them (full rant about the main 4 characters ahead because i cannot be stopped)
carter kane being dragged around the globe by his father who's a fugitive of the house of life and unknowingly getting caught in that crossfire and always having to be perfect and then as he finally starts to figure himself out and become a magician and person in his own right, he's thrown right into another role of perfection and expectations. he's always been alone, until the day he isn't anymore, but at the same time, he's appointed pharoah and isolated once again and still stuck.
sadie kane being taken from her father and brother and being raised by her grandparents in london and growing up as far away from egypt and the house of life as she could get. she becomes a magician and a leader, but at the same time she has to leave the life she's established in london behind. she's sure and unsure at the same time, wanting nothing more than her family to lean on, and one day, she finally gets it. she's taken from her normalcy and thrown into a life of magic, but she takes it all in stride despite all of her worries.
zia rashid who's been loyal to the house of life since she was eight years old and they saved her after her village was destroyed by apophis. she unknowingly becomes the host of nephthys and gets replaced by a shabti and locked in a water tomb below her own village, only to be saved by a boy her replica started to fall in love with but she views as an enemy. she'd fight for the house until the end, but then one day, her loyalties slowly shift towards the kanes and the path of the gods. she's always just been a soldier, but then one day, ra returns and she learns that she is his chosen one. she no longer lives in the shadows.
walt stone who's known he's dying his entire life but comes to the house of life to learn magic anyway. he throws the last year of his life to their cause, thinking its the last thing he'll ever do. he believes in the cause and the kanes and he genuinely feels no regret at potentially accelerating his early death for their cause. but then he becomes the first ever human host of anubis, extending his life longer than he ever thought possible. he can dream again of a life beyond sixteen.
Hi new Tumblr users
Please know this sites hashtagging system is categorical and NOT clout based
Aka if I look up the āWendell and Wildā tag, I should find clips, media, art and posts related to Wendell and wild ONLY. Same with any other random tag searched
If I spy a selfie, a random neighborhood, or any other kind of āinstaā post trying to take likes for a popular hashtag, Iām reporting you for spam. Most other long term users will too and your acct will be fast tracked as a spam blogger and blocked.
You will not ruin the last non corporate site for us, especially by trying to treat this site like influencers matter. If you get popular, itās bc youāre a clown w a skill not bc your hot or rich or skinny, got it?
#holy shit at people in the notes this isn't 'tyrannical' it's basic courtesy AND against the tos #the spam report button is easily accessible for this exact reason #cross tagging is absolutely reportable spam according to tos so just don't do it #it also doesn't get you any more notes it just pisses people off
Like for real guys: This is against TOS. It is not allowed. It is spam. IT is not less spam because you are not a botfarm. Don't do it.
People (me) will report you for this (I will). If you are spamming the tags, someone (again, me) will click the little report button (and I will enjoy doing it) every time they (I) see your unrelated posts clogging their (my) search.
Do not tempt me.
I will add that nine times out of ten, it is obviously, verifiably spam. Like, links to random websites, porn, ads for shit, scams, all that jazz.
So if I see your post in the mix, I will treat it the exact same way.
i genuinely don't even know if you've read the magnus chase trilogy but i would cry if you drew magnus in your style because there's roughly 0.002 drawings of him and he's the main character
this is a shitty doodle but i used him to mess around w different brushes rq

How to stan the white guy with minimal contribution to fandom's racism problem
Look, I get it. You're obsessed with the white guy. Maybe two of them together. And maybe your series has one or more main Black characters or Asian characters or a brown Latino star. You're here because of the irresistible pull of that white guy (or two), who is fascinating beyond belief. His acting is above anything anyone has ever seen. When you write about him, the words just pour out.
This is a fan-centered space so I feel confident in saying ā we've all been there. I'm not going to lie and say I've never been invested in white characters. There's nothing innately wrong with liking white characters (that would be silly).
But when it comes to the characters of color in your chosen media, you have a choice.Ā
You're unmoved by the Black major characters and find them unrelatable? Ok. If you're not able to keep that to yourself, prepare for a discussion about the empathy gap. Because we literally do not need content about your inability to relate to CoC if the intention is for it to stand as some kind of undebatable truth about the inferiority of CoC.
And then there are the deflections. At the first mention of sidelining CoC it comes like clockwork: They're poorly written! The acting is sub par! The character is just not interesting! It's got nothing to do with race!
Except when it happens over and over and over again, it does. It just does.
I can't count how many times a conversation on Reddit or the Jedi Council Forum (or anywhere, really) started out about Finn and became all about Kylo Ren five replies in. Just today I saw the same thing on Tumblr, a post about the poor treatment of Lucas from Stranger Things, and in the comments people were talking about Billy and his trauma.Ā
If you stan the white guy(s) and don't want to be perceived as part of fandom's racism problem, do not hijack threads about CoC. Not every conversation has to center your guy. Conversations that center Black characters, and I can't stress this enough, do not take anything away from your white fave(s). Nothing at all. It's not a competition.
Stop making excuses about why you don't like the Black character. No one really cares until you start tearing them down with excuses. Don't come up with meta about how the Black hero is a villain, actually, and the white bad guy is a tortured sweet baby who represents all of the forgotten children of the world. It's not clever, it's not good or interesting meta, it's transparent empathy gap racism.Ā
And, again, that will be discuseed. You can't believe in "maximum inclusion" and draw the line at discussing racism. Responding to racism is not breaking the fandom social contract. It's a long established part of fandom by now.
It really shouldn't bother white guy stans so much to see a Black character in a major role in genre media to the point where they feel the need to aggressively dismiss them and their fans.Ā Not doing that, at least, should be easy. Not doing that means that maybe that fandom critical post about racism isn't about you.
It's not about white guy characters or even their inevitable popularity. It's about fan behavior toward characters and fans of color, whether it's on Twitter, Tumblr, Reddit or AO3.
Exactly.
Not to be a Zeus defender, but I find it odd how negatively people talk of him turning Thalia into a tree, when in my opinion it's one of the best moments of his character
Like don't get me wrong - I'm aware that, as a father, the best thing he could have done is to save her, the no interference in mortal affairs law be damned
But bear with me a little bit as I try to organize my thoughts
First of all, I must say: there is a law. And as much as Rick (and now a significant portion of the fandom) likes to act as if it's Zeus' law, the Olympian council, made up of 12 gods, collectively decided to put that law into place. And personally, I do think they must have had good reasons for that. Do I think some aspects of it should be revised? Yes. I don't think they should equate interference with interaction. The gods should be able to be part of their kids lives, even if they couldn't solve all of their problems with a snap of fingers. But that's another talk entirely. The point is, they agreed on the non-interference law, and as their ruler, Zeus had to follow it. And I think there's something to be said about how he had to watch his kid die very, very, close to a place that was supposed to be a refuge to her, and so he chose to turn her into a tree that would offer protection for the entire camp; I mean, how many demigods were saved by this? How many gods didn't have to watch their kids die bc once they crossed that border, they were safe??
Also, to me, his decision to turn her into a tree that protected the camp demonstrates a surprising understanding of Thalia as a person, and a willingness to honour her will, because she died to protect her friends. And by creating the camp's border, he ensured that her efforts wouldn't be in vain. Every demigod in camp half-blood admires her sacrifice and is grateful for her courage, loyalty and bravery, bc that's what keeps them safe everyday. By doing that, Zeus ensured that her friends would be safe, and that Thalia would be remembered not only by the tragedy of her fate, but also by her greatest attributes.
HADES WAS THE ONE WHO SEND THE MONSTERS!!!! He was the one who killed her!! And I always thought that maybe one of the reasons why Zeus chose to turn her into a tree and stop her from actually dying and going to the underworld was so Hades wouldn't have her. Especially if he thought he might deny her the Elysium. Or even if he just didn't want her murderer to have her soul. And honestly? That's kinda valid. To ME.
Yes, Zeus is not father of the year material. But in the first saga, it was clear to me that he cared about Thalia. He cared enough that he was willing to risk the future of the Olympus to keep her safe. Despite the fact that she was a candidate to being the child of the prophecy - a prophecy that Zeus himself would rather never come to fruition - once she was born he never tried to kill her, and instead tried to guide her to safety. He mourned her. And he cared about her! In ttc when Athena suggested that they should consider killing Thalia and Percy to stop the prophecy, he defended Thalia! He would take that risk for her!!! Yes he's an imperfect father and ruler but damn!!!!!!! HE USED TO HAVE NUANCE GUYS DO YOU REMEMBER
Percy: There's something wrong with me.
Grover: That's okay. I love you anyway.
Nico and hazel WIP helo
its always "percy and blackjack" this and "jason and tempest" that SHUT UP
let's talk about how Arion tried to (and did a few times) kill anyone that wasn't Hazel that tried to tame him. Let's talk about how there was a WHOLE PROPHECY foretelling Hazel and Arion being an iconic, powerful duo. LETS TALK ABOUT THEY FOUND EACH OTHER IN BOTH HER LIVES. LETS TALK ABOUT HOW HAZEL AND ARION ARE ABSOLUTELY 100% WITHOUT A DOUBT THE BEST DEMIGOD/EQUESTRIAN DUO
I just love how Arion canonically cusses like a sailor and Percy is the only one who can understand him. It's giving, "this horse is not my Blackjack" like yo, Hazel can have him, please take him, he is all yours, he can't get between them even if he wanted to, and his dad literally made horses.
Even better is that canonically hazel has a mouth like a sailor so percy is the only one who knows that they both have no chill and match each otherās energy lmao
hey guys because i have a new username will you guys treat me like a new artist in the fandom or not š„¹
anyway will likes his loser bf being cute and i think thats so dumb /aff
Have you seen what Timothee Chalamet said about ballet and opera? š¤”
Since so many ballet and opera houses have responded online, how do you think twice Annabeth and Percy would retaliate, if they even bother?
I've seen it! Really got people talking lol
I think they would respond. I feel like Annabeth would have the really defensive instagram stories take, like would sit down and film something like Megan Fairchild did. Something just completely opposed to TC's whole point.
Percy I think would repost it to his story with the caption: "No worries, I fell asleep during Dune all three times I tried to watch it."
But then like a day later he would go back on and make a different take, which is that, no, a lot of people don't really care about these art forms any more, they are dying. But it's because -especially in the states- they are financially inaccessible. They are inaccessible to attend or to train in because they are so expensive, and the best training and performances are going to be in major metro areas. That doesn't mean he agrees with the spirit or point of TC's argument, but he hopes people in the arts will continue to push for better arts funding and increased access, as well as more balanced pay between the artists and the arts administrators.
He's like: "Yeah, I wouldn't have given a fuck about this had I not wandered into a ballet class one day, and I would never have been able to pursue it without people willing to help my mom and I pay for it. And I wouldn't have been able to go to SAB without scholarships and the sheer dumb luck of already living in New York. We need to find ways to help people care about this, to help expose people to it, and to make it a financially viable career."
