Hello. If you’re a bored AF @Metallica fan, I watched and wrote about their 1996 MTV EMAs performance every day for a week and how doing that affected me. Spoiler: It was all positive. 

I can’t believe I talked about the same video every day for a week. I haven’t changed since Middle School.

quick photo dump before i disappear again

Work has been keeping me on the road for the last couple of weeks and I honestly don't know how people tour for months – years – on end. I had a day and a half at home about a week ago and it was enough to dig out new underwear, take a bath and realize there's no food in the fridge and no point in restocking it. The fact that this is going to be my life for the next couple of years with intermittent periods at home is both exciting and utterly draining to think about.

Like I get that tours are huge organizations and no one's booking their own flights or figuring out where they're going to stay on their own but just the mindfuck of keeping track of where you are and what you've got ahead of you and still keep doing your work is kind of a lot. Especially in the US where if you're traveling on a budget and staying in the kinds of places that I'm staying in, every city kind of starts looking the same pretty quickly.

I'm not complaining – this is my dream job and I never thought I'd be able to do it. But you adjust to everything and once you get past the honeymoon phase, most dreams end up just becoming life with all it's good things and it's bad things, too.

Bonus, though: I've got about twenty drabbles of people doing fucked up things and fluffy things and sad things in every town and city I've visited over the past year. So that's something.
