Hartford Courant, Connecticut, March 9, 1906
i just hope ralsei transitions before chapter 7 so we can have a whole chapter of her. especially if she has an outfit swap or new battle sprites, im gonna need those backported to every previous chapter immediately for all subsequent replays
God dammit Aqua, Seth was having a looking pretty anime moment

“It’s like looking at a mirror, a broken one.”
Hot take: given how Kris treats the soul, I feel like the rebuke for mutual acceptance applies to Kris equally, if not more, than the soul on a pacifist route.
OP is so correct!
Body is the one who wants to make friends and go on dates and speaks with a speaker while Ghost has a prickly personality and is afraid of losing her identity. SOUL is the Body while KRIS is the Ghost in how their relationship plays out in comparison
Ok let's break this down
If Ralsei dies at the end of Deltarune, and ONLY them, and Castletowns darkworld is closed forever and everything just returns back to normal at the end, that means:
Ralsei's arc about learning to live for themself and defy what is expected of them: Meaningless. If everything just goes back to normal that proves their point at the beginning of their arc right, that darkners don't matter.
And if that's true, then none of the characters we meet in the darkworlds don't matter. Aren't real. Lancer's not really Susie's first friend, Tenna being thrown away doesn't matter and isn't something that should be worried about, Spamtons desperation to cut his strings and live for himself is a stupid idea and unimportant, Maddie never truly gets to live in the body that is right for her, and so on and so forth.
And if Spamton's need to be independent doesn't matter, what does that say for Kris, who Spamton is a darker reflection of?
And if Pink never truly gets to be happy with herself, what does that say for Kris? Who she is a lighter reflection of?
If Ralsei's arc about gaining autonomy and living for themself doesn't serve anything, then Susie's wish doesn't matter. Her becoming more then just the school bully- the bad kid everyone sees her as- doesn't matter. If Ralsei being able to act on their own more and more doesn't matter, then Kris will never cut their own strings. They'll never be more then just a vessel, for us. For the Knights plan. Even Noelle wanting more then this boring stagnet life! She should just accept the status quo! Castletown isn't real! Real change doesn't happen in hometown, Dess is gone, and it doesn't change anything. It's frozen in ice. A Susie is a Susie. A Kris is a Kris. A Noelle is a Noelle. They don't change.
If one of the main characters arc of autonomy isn't 'relevent' isn't 'important' isn't 'worth discussing', then then none of them are.
I wish this fandom stopped hyper focusing on the lightner characters as being the only ones with any real importance. They are intertwined. Mixed in a prophesy none of them want to abide by but are forced to walk the path of.
Would it REALLY, be narratively satisfying to you if everything just went back to how it always was after the roaring? If the dark and light world collided, and everyone saw the darkners alive and full of life, dying off, turning into stone one by one because the law of the world just didn't allow them to be more then just an object. If the three heroes made that sacrifice. That everything going back to normal would be at all in line with the games themes? With the characters individual and intertwining arcs?
Was the neutral ending in Undertale satisfying? Leaving behind your friends to a dull, and hopeless life? Each more tragic than the last depending on who you killed?
It's almost like
In Toby Fox games
Every character. Matters. Every connection, every friend you make. Every life you interact with. Matters. Has consequence.

PINK AND ORANGE
Hey there, little guy.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
coming from a nonbinary person whose opposite binary gender to my birth sex was a stepping stone in my journey
the reason i personally think ralsei is a girl and not some form of nonbinary is because of lost girl, "got it, princess", the sheer joy in being a princess in the climbing segment, pink being the most recent lost girl, the context-based line about the butler outfit (the butlers in queen's mansion are men and women, in flower castle, butlers are implied to be men), and the very subtle pronoun change that implies that it's a first step.
interesting recurring phrasing of losing being a good thing/something that should be done in Chapter 5
So, I've been a little slow on the uptake here but I've come around to realising that the six non-Flowery flowers all seem to relate to Kris in one way or another. For a lot of them it's pretty obvious -
Aqua is a reflection of them as a very young child who doesn't quite understand how playing with knives can be dangerous;
Yellow parallels their absolutism when it comes to the mistakes they've made, and the sheer suicidal lengths they will go to in an attempt to "atone" for those perceived mistakes;
Orange reflects their tendency to project and make themself seem tougher and more self-sufficient than they really are;
Blue emphasises their artistic talent and flair for the dramatic, as well as offering a clue about the way they express their love for others;
and Seth reflects their need to feel "special" and their deeply-suppressed pride in their own intelligence and skills.
But I was stumped on Green for a good while, because they didn't really embody much beyond being a good cook and very chill person who everyone loves instantly. And it wasn't until I really thought about what ties these two characters together that it clicked into place for me.
Because Green is utterly mute throughout the entire chapter, never once speaking a single word of dialogue, and everything they do serves some other person that isn't themself, whether it be their fellow flowers or their supposed enemies. And it made me think - is that how Kris sees themself in relation to others? Is that what Kris feels like they need to be in order to be loved and accepted by others? Being quiet no matter who is speaking to you? Being helpful no matter who asks for it? Even if someone is being hurtful to you, or trying to take advantage of you?
And I thought, once again, about Bratty's dialogue about how the older kids would tell Kris to get them fast food, and then act surprised when they actually did it... I thought about the Promise they've become entangled with, and whatever strangeness is going on between them and Carol, and how they'll never really speak up for or assert themself when they dislike something. And it seems to me like Green is the ultimate projection of that, the ultimate "good" child who helps everyone and keeps quiet and gives people exactly what they want, and is universally loved for it. Green wins everyone over doing this, in a way that Kris has never quite been able to do.
And when you consider the heightened cost to Kris the longer they go along with this plan, the longer they keep Susie in the dark, the longer they go without properly articulating themself... in some ways, Green becomes the saddest and truest reflection of Kris out of all the flowers, because at least those other reflections can actually communicate and draw attention to their own suffering.
...Jesus Christ, Kris.
Uuuheeheehee!

Deltarune tomorrow so we're manifesting trans Ralsei lmao 🙏
