what do you mean my childhood affected me
i have terrible news
Art and Psychiatry anon again.
Have you enjoyed a piece of media made by a psychiatrist or any psychiatric professional such a therapist or social worker? Do you think being a psychiatrist/therapist/psych nurse may hamper someone's abilities to make art.
Okay, this is interesting. Because the first thing that came to mind was something that I hated -- NK Jemisin's Omelas take, The Ones Who Stay and Fight, which is ridiculously carceral under the vague auspices of being 'progressive.' Very "turn cops into social workers and all better!!!' This + the Isabel Fall transmisogynistic bullshit she participated in really soured me on Jemisin, despite enjoying a few of her books. But that particular story really crystalized me the failure of imagination practically required to function within carceral psychiatry. Yes, i think it's fair to say that any threat to one's capacity to imagine will hurt someone terribly as a storyteller, including and especially work-related attachment to normalcy, sanity, and compliance.
i looked through my goodreads and couldn't find anything written by someone whose bio identified them as a psych professional. doesn't mean i've never enjoyed or appreciated a book by someone who was, but i think the enclosure of the imagination + lack of time to pursue things that are fulfilling beyond punishing/surviling people that are fundamental to the profession really informs the lack of psych professionals writing, like, innovative novels.
ok i have not yet read his novels but lyrics by former psychiatric nurse and Mountain Goats frontman John Darnielle suggest that it's not impossible
went to a new optometrist today wearing my squid facts ‘save our freaks dont mine the deep’ shirt from @sarahmackattack that has a strawberry squid on it. and i wasn’t even thinking about it but the optometrist walked in and he was like ‘oh what does your shirt say’ so i showed him and he was like ‘oh that’s neat!’ and then i thought he might like to know about strawberry squid eyes since they have weird eyes and he is an optometrist and all. so i was like ‘yeah it’s actually a real kind of squid called a strawberry squid, their eyes are really cool because they have one big yellow-green one and one small blue one’ and he kind of gasped and went ‘oh my god that’s so interesting i wonder why they have that. do you know what their retina composition is like?’ and i watched as he minimized my chart on the computer and started looking up images of strawberry squid and then he googled ‘strawberry squid retina composition’ and he was like ‘sorry we’ll get to your eye exam in a moment i just really want to find out’ LMAO 10/10 optometrist experience will be returning
it’s a shame more vampire media doesn’t pull from vampire bat behavior because they’re such sweeties. they can only survive their incredibly specialized diet because bats will share blood with colony members that didn’t find a meal! there’s evidence that suggests the donors sometimes initiate this behavior themselves by approaching hungry bats! the colonies are mostly harems of females with a few males but they’ve been observed letting unrelated males in when it gets cold so they can all stay warm! cute little social critters!
@yupekosi your tags have created such a beautiful world
since she's designed after a barbie i think alecto is just completely smooth down there
sure, but open up ur mind anon.... she's also an ancient eldritch monster. i think she has some crazy ovipositor cock. she could have tentacles. teeth. pincers to grip u. perhaps even...
i do think that bashir and garak could play a sherlock holmes hologame together but ONLY if they're playing as holmes and moriarty respectively. there is no watson.
I think theres a watson exactly once. It is miles and he had to put up with so much flirt arguing that he will never agree to anything like it again

I'm so tickled by this awful ad on one of my stupid phone games.
she's got it all!!! shitty writing visible in the first sentence, shitty graphic art (ai?), misleading implications of bisexuality........ a wolf..........
people will really come into kink spaces and say you can't forcefem women like there wasn't a feature length movie about an elderly gay man forcefemming a woman as part of scheme to thwart an elaborate assassination attempt before the killer even determined their target
What... What movie is this.
ain't no way in hell this post even breaks 500
i was trying so hard to remember the nonexistent assassination subplot in My Fair Lady

Hm. Interesting. Apparently cortisol production depletes magnesium stores. And I have a lot of symptomatic overlap with magnesium deficiency. And it can apparently help migraine. And ADHD. I think I'm going to try supplementing magnesium glycinate. L-threonate sounds really interesting too as that's magnesium that can cross the blood-brain barrier and apparently is super useful for memory and shit.
this can't keep happening
