One thing I applaud fate for when it comes to depicting Achilles is having emphasis be placed upon his shield. Because “Achilles heel” is a real world anatomical term we often associate the hero Achilles with his weakest point, his heel, but his shield serves as a better symbol for him imo. He was a vanguard spearman and spent most of the Iliad away from combat, the things that protect him (like Thetis, his armor, and his shield) are more important to his character than his heel. Like in a sort of way Achilles was a shield for the Greeks
