After the Beast Yeast… Dark Cacao Cookie developed a deep fear of spiders. Arachnophobia.
He hated it. Hated how it reminded him of his fallen warriors. His ruined kingdom. His failure as a father.
It became an obsession— cleaning, purging, making sure not a single spider dared to crawl within his lands. He would not allow them. Not in his castle. Not in his kingdom. Not in his mind.
By the witches, the trauma was so bad it made him want to destroy everything. But in the end, the only thing he truly managed to keep spider-free was his kingdom.
The Ancient Cookies gathered in White Lily’s forest, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. Laughter filled the air as they reminisced about their kingdoms, their past adventures, and everything in between.
White Lily Cookie was the best host, after all.
"This cranberry tea is amazing, White Lily," Pure Vanilla Cookie said with a smile.
"I love it! Would you mind shipping some to my kingdom?" Hollyberry Cookie added enthusiastically.
White Lily nodded. "Of course. The Lilians enjoy harvesting cranberries near the forest. Sometimes, they even find cute little wolf spiders—"
Dark Cacao choked.
The laughter died.
All eyes turned to him as his breathing grew erratic.
"Dark Cacao…?"
"Are you alright?"
"Hey, what’s wrong?"
Then, as if to mock him, a wolf spider scuttled onto the table, carrying a tiny cranberry between its legs.
Dark Cacao stumbled back—too fast, too reckless. His cup of tea tipped over, the scalding liquid burning his arm, but he barely registered the pain.
"Dark Cacao!"
No. No! NOT SPIDERS! NOT AGAIN!
His breath hitched. His vision blurred. His heart pounded against his ribs like war drums. He reached for his sword, hands trembling, his entire body rigid with terror. He had to kill it—had to!
But before he could strike, Hollyberry Cookie grabbed his arm.
"Dark Cacao! What the—"
A scream tore from his throat, raw and desperate.
Those eyes! Those legs! That horrible, hairy body!
It reminded him of her.
Of Mystic Flour.
Of his failure.
Of his weakness.
Of his kingdom, crumbling beneath his feet.
His grip on his sword faltered. For the first time, he couldn't bring himself to fight.
He fled.
Bolting into the forest, he ran and ran, feet pounding against the earth, lungs burning. He didn’t stop until he collapsed behind a tree, pressing his back against the rough bark.
His body wouldn’t stop shaking. His tears wouldn’t stop falling.
He was sobbing.
The nightmare clawed at his mind, whispering, hissing, laughing.
It’s all your fault.
Your warriors died because of you.
Your kingdom fell because of you.
You’re nothing.
A failed king.

A gentle hand touched his own.
Dark Cacao Cookie recoiled, eyes wide in panic—only to see White Lily Cookie kneeling beside him.
"I'm sorry… I didn't know," she murmured.
His breath was still uneven, his chest rising and falling too fast. He shook his head.
White Lily reached out again, slower this time. "Take a deep breath… it's alright. You’re safe."
Dark Cacao swallowed hard, forcing himself to steady his breathing.
"In… Out… There you go."
The tension in his muscles slowly eased.
"I'm sorry for bringing up the spiders," White Lily said softly.
Dark Cacao looked away. "You don’t need to apologize. It’s… fine."
A heavy sigh escaped him. "I suppose my trauma is—"
"It’s alright," she reassured him. "Come on. Let’s head back."
Dark Cacao hesitated for a moment before nodding.
When they returned, he barely managed to mutter an apology before the others pulled him into a firm, warm embrace.
"It’s okay," Hollyberry whispered.
"We’re here," Pure Vanilla added.
"We’re all here," White Lily finished.
Dark Cacao let out a shaky breath and, for the first time in a long while, allowed himself to be held.

His friends admire his resourcefulness and dedication. “Is there anything you can’t do, Dark Cacao Cookie?” Hollyberry Cookie once teased, impressed by his skills.
“Well… cooking,” he admits with a rare chuckle.
