It is absolutely clear he’s joking if you understand even the first thing about Indigenous humor, Kiwi humor, or just humor in general and I feel like I’m losing my mind seeing so many people interpret this out of context and in the worst way possible.

Especially when Taika is well known for exactly this type of humor.

Especially, especially when Taika followed this by saying the DVD bonus footage was just four slow motion hours of this, and Chris said he didn’t have a problem with a shirtless scene, he just didn’t want it to be the same type of scene as before.

It’s wild because you people know this Indigenous man is not oppressing this white man. You know that Taika and Chris Hemsworth are good friends and were before Ragnarok even happened. You know that Chris only wants Taika as the Thor director. You know all this, and still this.

Pay attention to this. The continual bad faith attacks and obstinate misinterpretation of humor of the world’s most successful Indigenous man (one who dedicates his career to amplifying Indigenous voices) is violent and telling. I’m sure there are a myriad of problematic things about him, but in this instance when the joke is this clear, one has to seriously question their motives.
