Build a Bear Stuffie Care
Today’s tutorial will be over how to do simple care and cleaning on a build a bear pony or stuffie! I’m only doing basic cleaning in this post. In posts to come I’ll cover other needs for stuffies and dolls.
I like to scout out thrift store to find stuffies especially build a bears! Some I find need love and a lot of it! From hair to cleaning and possibly some repair for rips. Today I’ll be cleaning hair and skin!
I’ll start with Luna! She has been on a shelf and is dirty and her hair is tangled. I start with a dry brushing carefully with a wire brush. If you don’t have a wire doll brush a regular brush works too. Try to get all the tangles out before her washing! Next is to wash her hair. With any stuffie that has hair sometimes they need a good washing to feel soft again. Wrap your stuffie in a towel leaving the hair out. Get the water as hot as possible. I use washing gloves that are heat resistant. Don’t burn yourself! Use regular shampoo and conditioner and wash the hair like normal.
All washed up! Now towel dry the stuffie and set it down on a towel to dry. Do not brush it while the hair is wet. If the hair is particularly tangled and you can’t brush it out dry while it has conditioner in it you can carefully brush it and the conditioner will help you work out all the tangles.
She’s all clean and ready to dry! Now onto the others! Rainbow dash and fluttershy. Fluttershy and Dash have curls but when they are dirty and tangled you’d never know. Once they got clean the curls popped right out!
Nice and clean now compared to the tangled mess of before! Just look at Dash!
Now With some stuffies when the are well loved their hair gets dry and brittle like human hair. To fix that we use conditioner during the wash to make it soft but the ends can still be frayed and damaged. I like to take little sections at a time and twist them to the very tip so I can see the problem area then skip off a little bit at a time. Now make sure you ask permission from your parents before you do this! And I only snip off a tiny bit! This isn’t a hair cut session! If you aren’t sure you and always ask me what I think!
See the difference in the way the hair looks now? It will lay nice and smooth again! The last problem to address is Rainbow Dash and Toothless they are dirty! Dash has a spot on her and toothless is very dusty!
For stuffies I like to use baby wipes first. This ensures that they won’t get water logged and wipes have a tiny bit of soap in them to help scrub away dirt without leaving behind any residue! Rainbow Dash came out clean as ever and toothless is now scalely black again!
After everyone dried throughly I gave them another brush to get them all soft and ready to go! Look how clean they are now!
In my next posts I’ll address dolls, tangled hair repair, stains, stitching, and other needs! Thanks everyone!

How To Clean Doll Hair
For this tutorial I’m using a thrift store rapunzel doll. She’s a Disney toddler doll and in fair condition. It was a good find since majority of the time the dolls are naked. Even though her dress has a rip and I don’t care for it having a doll with clothes is nice until I can get a new dress!
She is really clean too so I won’t be showing how to clean skin today! We will only be working on the hair! Her hair is in rough shape. First thing we will do is wash with shampoo and conditioner. While the conditioner is in using a wide tooth comb carfully in section start to detangle her hair. This may take a bit. I like to lay a towel down and watch a movie. I turned on Tangled for the job!
Once you have worked out all the major tangles and can mostly run fingers through them rinse the hair all out and pat dry. If your doll is in good condition then you usually can stop here and let them dry. If your doll needs more help then we can continue on with a few more steps. This is Rapunzel after the brushing.
She’s looking much better but as you can see she has some damage still to work on. Now doll hair is plastic so there’s no restoring it to its original form unfortunately but with a little love we can get her looking pretty good. The next step I did after brushing her hair all out was to rub coconut oil through her hair. This helps restore some hydration and take the frizz from damaged doll hair. After letter that soak in she was looking a bit better. I trimmed her ends up to help manage the extremely damaged areas. Remember this is just a trim not a hair cut!
See those extremely damaged ends! Poor girl needed a trim! Once the trim was done I brushed her back out and put a little more oil on her and let her sit for a while to rest.
She was looking better but still had some problem areas. One last step we can do to try and help us a boiled water bath. This helps a lot of dolls! I boiled a bowl of water in the microwave. Be very careful or ask for help to remove the bowl and do this step so you don’t get burned. Then I dunked her in for 10 sec intervals. The hot water smooths out frizz. It works really well a lot of the time.
I carefully dried her off and brushed her over the sink to help smooth the hair out. Now she looks a hundred times better but there is still parts that are damaged that can’t be fixed. You can leave these parts as is because she deserves to be loved even with her hair damaged, you can braid it which I love to do with dolls that can’t be fixed, you can replace the hair, or you can cut it. Just remember if you cut it the hair will not grow back. For now I’m leaving her as is and might braid it with flowers to look like when she went to the Festival of Lights!
This is an example of damaged hair next to healthy hair so you can see how hard it is to repair. I still love her and doing these steps has repaired and cleaned a lot of dolls that were otherwise abandoned and neglected in thrift store or yard sales. Taking care of second hand dolls not only saves you a lot of money (I got rapunzel for a $1!) but it gives love to a new doll. In the end she turned out pretty good!
~update~
I was able to look up a few pictures of rapunzel at the Festival of Lights and braid her hair to look similar! I’m hoping to find a few flowers to add later to make it look even more similar! Braids aren’t so bad after all!

How to hide your little things!
If you still live with your family, you have roommates or another situation where you live with people who don’t know aboit your regression, being little is hard! Especially trying to keep your items a secret! So what can you do? Well, here is “Classy’s Guide to Hiding Stuff.” Enjoy!
1. Switch Places With A Potential Snooper
When you walk into your bedroom, look around. Where would you look first if you were looking for something hidden? Don’t hide things in any of those places.
2. Dedicated Drawers/Shelves
If you have quite a few little things, have a dedicated drawer or shelf for it! Empty out a spot in a cupboard or closet, or a shelf on your bookshelf and hide things there! You may be thinking, “But Classy, all someone would half to do is look at the shelf or open the drawer or cupboard!” Yes, this is true. This is where we take from the chameleon and camouflage it. For shelves, put books in front of it! Not a lot of people will go rooting through your books, so your items should be safe and sound. As for cupboards and drawers this is a bit trickier, but for drawers you could put maybe a few articles of clothing over it, and for a cupboard you could use a few big items to put in front of it!
3. Little Bags!
I love little bags! You can get a backpack or a tote bag or just a bag of your choice and use it to store your little things in. Its great for if you’re on the go a lot, and you can decorate it as you please! Most people wouldn’t even question a Hello Kitty or Paw Patrol bag, but if you live with nosy people a regular bag may be best for you.
4. Have things out in the open!
By this I do not mean leave your pacis or sippies everywhere. But things like stuffies are normal to have as an adult! I have a large stuffie drawer in my room, and a bunch om my bed and on shelves! Nobody questions it, and if they do say you like collecting them because they’re cute. Also, having cute childish decorations isn’t something people would really think twice about. They’d just think you have a nice childish taste.
5. Secret Agent
Put items in places that have nothing to do with them! Put a paci in a Ziploc bag and put it in your shirt drawer! Fold up a onesie and put it in a blanket box! Places where nodody would really look, and even if they did, probably wouldn’t notice one small thing st the bottom.
6. Just get creative!
Nobody knows your home better than you do! Put things wherever you’ll think they’ll be safe and accessible to you!

"You are no longer licensed to use the software," Adobe told them.
Friendly reminder that GIMP does pretty much everything Photoshop does, and it’s 100% free. Fuck DRM and the license culture, we have plenty of open source options available to us as a consumer.
Lightworks is a freeware video editor on par with Premiere
Blender is an excellent freeware 3D renderer, possibly better than After Effects
Lightzone to replace Lightroom
Inkscape to replace Illustratr
Audacity to replace Audition (I also received a free version of Pro Tools with my Scarlett Solo audio interface)
If Adobe is going to be greedy shitheads, then fuck ‘em. Don’t use their stuff. Freeware can be just as good, if not better, than Adobe CC.
Firealpaca has downloads for Windows and Mac, is free, and has routine software updates, often including new features.
They listen to their user suggestions, too! You can even animate using their program, and they even have some features that photoshop and sai don’t.
They also have it available on Steam, are working on a phone app, and if you need something more heavy duty, the team also produces Krita (built for digital paintings).
Protection using Fortress Plants
One of the ways I find what tool is needed for my craft is its ecological role. Fortress plants are used in permaculture to protect the garden boundary, stop weeds and invasive plants and even deter animals. Fortress plants can also provide culinary or medicinal value.
Fortress plants are perennial or self sowing, spread well, have large root systems or bulbs, and usually emit alleochemicals which prevents other plants from growing around them. They prepare the earth for the regrowth of the forest (or forest garden). Fortress plants are great for garden boarders, around fruit trees, for reclaiming lawns, and can be used as a magical tool for protection.
Here are some of my favorite fortress plants that can be planted around your home for protection, or used as wards, and in spells and rituals for protection especially of the home:
Comfrey, chives (and other alliums), Jerusalem artichokes, maxamillion sunflower, spring bulbs like daffodils and tulips, gooseberry, sea berry, sorrel, nettle, creeping phlox, plantain, clover, dandelion, lilies, lovage
*above are only a few of many examples*
The most potent part of these plants for magical applications are the roots, though the whole plant still holds the “fortress” energy.
i swear to fucking god i had this innate primordial urge today to learn how to make a cloak for myself and i was nearly sweating and shaking with the effort to not immediately bust out of my work and go learn so i could have just a

Coping With Grieve and Loss
An unfortunate part of life is losing someone close to us. This can be a really difficult time to work past. Today we are going to talk about healthy ways to cope.
Writing is always a great way to work out your feelings of anger and sadness. We like to get a special notebook or journal for just coping enteries. This helps keep it all in one area and you can also pick out a journal that reminds you of the person you lost. It’s good to write daily even on good days to say you had a happier day and what went on to make you happy. A good activity to include is to write a goodbye letter. Below is a worksheet to help you start your own.
It’s also important to remember that everyone grieves differently. Many people will be sad and angry but others cope differently. They may feel relieved or hide their feelings to others. There is no wrong way to cope as long as it’s not hurting you or those around you. How one person copes may not work for you. It may take a bit to find something that really works for you.
There are many different ways to cope with grieve. Some of our favorites are listed below. Take a look and see if something helps you channel your feelings and helps you make sense of your loss.
The most important thing to remember is you’re not alone. Talk with your friends, family, or trusted therapists about your feelings. Never be ashamed to admit you aren’t doing well. Loss is very hard and you shouldn’t deal with it alone!

Self Care Week
This week will be a bit different. We will be discussing more adult themes instead of preschool coloring pages. My team and I have noticed a large need for knowledge over self care both mentally and physically. Each day we will try to do a different topic we feel if helpful adult knowledge to make you a happier healthier little.
