“When there’s no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth.”
𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐛𝐲
☆ Genre: Domestic, fluff
☆ Warnings: None
☆ Request: No
☆ Characters: Chan, Y/N, Noah, Sky
☆ Word Count: 1.7k
Crouching down beside his car, Chan smiled at his three year old daughter. He reached out and pulled her green hat down her head, Sky's wide eyes glistening under the moonlight.
"You need to wrap up warm … " Chan hummed as his delicate fingers drew the zip up Sky's coat. "Are you warm, baby?"
Sky giggled. She nodded enthusiastically before stepping into her father's arms. "I'm warm now."
"Aw … " Chan beamed as he gently hugged her, his hand soft on her back. He then slipped his hands under her arms and lifted her up into his hold, the girl giggling at the sudden height.
From the other side of the car, Noah erupted into a fit of quiet laughter of his own, the sound followed by Y/N's amused words.
"Noey," Y/N was laughing. "Noey … oh Lord."
Noah was wiggling around like a stick insect; the scarf around his neck moved with a strange liquid quality as he slowly displayed the strangest dance moves Y/N had ever seen.
"Well, they're definitely original dance moves," Y/N wheezed. She shook the eight year old's coat out and held it at arm's length. "Come on, kiddo. Put your coat on … you can finish dancing like your father afterwards."
Chan watched with tender eyes as Noah wriggled himself into his coat. He zipped it up himself before slipping his hand into his mother's hand, the other half of his body still half dancing.
"You two ready?" Chan grinned. He turned to his daughter who was playfully tugging at the loose strings of her father's hat. "Are you ready?"
"Is daddy ready?" Sky asked in return.
The man laughed and he leaned over to kiss Sky's red cheek. "I'm ready."
Locking his car, Chan let his wife and son walk in front of him before he followed them with their daughter. He cocked his head to the side with a grin. "What's this about my dancing?"
Y/N stifled a loud burst of laughter. She squeezed her son's hand. "Want to explain?"
Turning around so he was facing his father, Noah cleared his throat. He plastered a solemn expression on his freckled face and started to bend his knees in a comical fashion, his hands flailing around his hips.
Chan's lips twitched. Y/N covered her mouth with a hand as she did her best to not choke.
"Nice moves," Chan reached out and patted his son's head. "Weirdly familiar."
"That's because you dance exactly the same," Y/N insisted with a mischievous grin. "Remember that one dance battle all those years ago? You know, the one where you said you weren't tired and ended up moving like a deceased jelly?"
Chan's mouth fell open. "A deceased jelly? What does that even mean?"
"Daddy is jelly," Sky suddenly giggled. Before any of them had the chance to object, she leaned forward and bit her father's cheek.
Yelping in surprise and minute pain, Chan stared at his daughter. He was sure there were teeth marks in his cheek as he raised his fingers to his skin.
"Not jelly," Sky huffed, staring at her father. She then leaned forward again and pressed a hovering kiss right over the area she had bit him.
Chan erupted into a fit of giggles. He tightened his arms around the girl and returned her kiss with a flurry of his own, his plump lips attacking her with large kisses all over her face.
"You're so cheeky," Chan kissed her nose as they continued walking. "If you weren't so cute I'd have been very upset about the bite."
Sky grinned happily. "I'm cute."
"Yes you are," Chan chuckled. He nuzzled his nose against her cheek. "You're the cutest little baby ever."
It was a chilly autumn evening, and the family had decided to venture into the outdoors to watch a display of fireworks. They were in the middle of a very large park, and Chan could smell the unmistakable wisp of smoke from the roaring bonfire in the distance. Excitable children were milling around the dark field with their mittened hands clutching their parents' hands, and couples huddled into each other, seeking for warmth as they stood in their own spots. Toffee apples and candy apples glistened from the glow of the fire, and the clink of coins was constant from the stalls dotting the edges of the park.
"I want one," Sky said suddenly. She pointed to a little boy a few metres away who was holding a half eaten toffee apple of his own.
Chan peered around. The nearest stall was a fair walk away, and he rubbed the nape of his neck.
"You want a toffee apple?" Chan asked. "Baby, Noey, do you want one?"
"I'll have a chocolate one," Y/N said. "With hundreds and thousands."
Chan smiled. He nodded, kissing her on her cheek.
"Can I share yours?" Noah asked his mother.
"Of course you can," Y/N smiled.
"I guess Ky and I will share a toffee one then," Chan grinned, looking at his daughter. "Is that okay baby? Can your old daddy share with you?"
Sky thought for a moment. She nodded, her hat almost flying off her head; Chan chuckled and gently folded the hem over her ears again, his fingers tickling her chin.
"You can share," Sky agreed.
Soon equipped with their two apples, Y/N and Noah amicably shared their chocolate covered one. Sky and Chan, however, were unable to bite into their toffee one from the sheer difficulty of getting past the toffee layer, and the father and daughter duo burst into a fit of erratic laughter.
"This is stupid," Sky whined. She darted her tongue out towards the apple like a little frog, licking at the toffee instead. "I can't bite it."
"Who even invented these?" Chan wondered out loud. "They're more impractical than waffle burgers."
"They were invented by some guy called William the early nineteen hundreds," Y/N enlightened him. She was brushing hundreds and thousands off of the front of her coat, her eyes sparkling with joy. "He put them in the windows of his shop to get more customers to buy his stuff … but the customers ended up wanting to buy the apples instead."
"It's always some guy called William," Noah commented, making his father laugh.
How did you know that?" Chan asked.
Y/N shrugged. She handed the apple back to Noah, the boy biting a huge chunk off of the fruit. "Curiosity."
Chan looked towards Sky with a grin. "The more you know, aye?"
Sky scowled. "I don't want to know. I want to eat the apple."
Chuckling at her response, Chan took the apple from her sticky hand. He looked at his wife. "Look away, baby. You do not want to see how ugly my face is gonna look, trying to bite this."
Y/N snorted at her husband. "I've seen you do worse things. Go ahead."
Sticking his tongue out at her, Chan cleared his throat. He then hastily widened his jaw and aggressively bit into the apple; a chunk broke off to his relief, and he handed it back to his daughter, the fruit now considerably easier to eat.
"There you go," Chan muffled through a mouthful of toffee and apple. "Once you bite into it it's actually pretty good."
With Sky now munching on the apple in delight in his arms, Chan led his family over to the bonfire. The closer he got, the warmer he got, and he stopped a little way away as he shivered from the sudden heat. The soft smile on his face glowed the colour of amber, and Y/N's own face reflected with affection as she watched him.
"I think they're going to start soon," Chan pulled his phone out from his pocket and clocked the time. "Are you kids excited?"
"Yes," Noah nodded, the bobble on his hat matching his rapid movement.
Sky on the other hand, was too engrossed in her toffee apple to care. Her pink cheeks glistened with the melted toffee, her eyes wide as she stared at the crowds of people surrounding the fire.
Grinning at his daughter, Chan dug into his pocket again. He found a slightly crumpled tissue and gently mopped the sugar from Sky's face, dabbing at the apple juice that had begun to dribble down her chin.
"Is that good?" Chan laughed. He squeezed her in a warm hug when she nodded before turning his gaze towards his wife.
She looked happy, conversing with their son. But having been married to her for a long time, Chan immediately noticed the flicker of anxiety in the depths of her pupils as her gaze landed on the fire.
He gently brushed his fingers against hers. "Okay?"
Y/N looked up at him with a smile. "I'll be okay."
Chan slid his hand into the pocket of his jacket again. He retrieved a small plastic box and folded it into his surprised wife's palm.
"What's this?" Y/N asked, shaking the box.
"I brought you earplugs," Chan whispered. "I know you hate loud noises. These should help."
His words immediately caused Y/N's eyes to prickle. It was small things like that that made Y/N fall in love with her husband more and more; she had truly never met anyone as caring as him, and she doubted she would ever get used to the little things he did for her.
"Thank you," Y/N sniffed. She flipped the box open and retrieved the plugs, pressing them into her ears beneath her hat.
Chan reached out and slipped his free hand into hers with a tender smile on his face. His thumb started to rub gently over her knuckles, a reassuring pressure that reminded Y/N she was safe.
A short while later, the first firework shot into the night sky; Noah's mouth widened in fascination as an explosion of white gold lit up the darkness.
Sky was so caught off guard by the explosion that the apple core in her hand slipped out of her hold and hit the grass with a soft thud.
"Bang!" Sky pointed to the sky. "Bang bang daddy!"
Chan started to laugh. "Sky Bahng Bahng."
Laughing at her husband's joke, Y/N chimed in as she leaned her cheek against her shoulder. "Bang bang baby?"
Chan wriggled his eyebrows. "That can be arranged."
"I take the past ten seconds back," Y/N sighed, though she squeezed her husband's hand a little harder.
"What are you talking about?" Noah asked curiously.
Y/N coughed. She grinned as another firework exploded above them in sparks of blue and red. "Noah Bahng Bahng!"
Noah shook his head. "Oh no."
