De Telefooncentrale op de Herengracht 295, een gebouw dat me altijd fascineert als ik er langs fiets. Huidige ontwerp is uit 1955 van architect Kees van der Wilk, waar met recht veel kritiek op was. De voorgaande telefooncentrale, die is afgebroken omdat deze niet meer aan de eisen voldeed wegens een hoger gewicht van de apparatuur en meer aansluitingen, was een ontwerp uit 1916 van Gerrit Jan Rutgers en Pieter Marnette, architecten van Publieke Werken. Daarvoor stonden er 7 panden uit de 17e eeuw.
