4 Things You Shouldn’t Do On A Road Trip!
We’ve talked about many things on this blog from where to go, reasons to take a road trip instead of flying, mobile apps to use, etc. but the one thing we haven’t talked about is what you shouldn’t do on a road trip. So today Nina and I will be talking about the top 5 things to not do on a road trip.
The first thing you shouldn’t do on a road trip is leaving your house in a rush. Its best to pack up your car the night before so you know you have the essentials ready just incase something comes up in the morning. Preparing before hand not only relieves some of the pre-road trip stress, but makes you keep everything in check. There is nothing worse than leaving the house and realizing you forgot your favourite pair of shoes at home and left the door unlocked.
Secondly, don’t go over or underestimate your budget. Be realistic you don’t want to spend all your money on hotels when you will be out all day exploring anyways. Find out what your budget is before your road trip and bring enough money for food, adventures, gas, and hotels.
Third of all don’t rely on stops along to way to get your food! This way you can pack some healthy choices like fruits or veggies instead of having to pull over at a fast food joint along the way. Most highway pit stops are comprised of fast food burger joints or pizza places, which are foods that won’t help in keeping you energized, and ready to drive and are not the healthiest of choices either. Packing some fresh fruits like berries will help raise your blood sugar and energy when you’re feeling tired and in turn keep you awake for your long trip! It’s also, not to mention, much lighter on your wallet to not have to spend the extra cash on food stops. Most places are overpriced anyways and have the smallest portions/options. Not the most ideal for a long road trip.
And lastly, if you’ve got yourself a furry best friend it’s your best bet to leave them at home. Although a dog is a mans best friend, it is not a Roadtrips. When you’ve got your pet with you it will only add more things to keep in mind during your road trip. Pets need to get some exercise every few hours and also to tinkle. Having somewhere to stop along the way isn’t always a guarantee. The other thing with pets is that not all hotels/motels will allow them and if you need to book something in a short amount of time or just while you’re on the trip, the place might not allow pets and you’re out of luck. Sleeping in the car with your pet sounds so appealing, doesn’t it?
Well there you have it! Top 4 things to avoid when going on a road trip. Keep this in mind when planning your first/next road trip and you’ll only make the experience easier and more enjoyable for yourself and whoever you may choose to bring along…as long as their not furry!
