Taxidermy domestic c.at paws
Two lambs, roughly the same size/age. On the left: freshly salted, untreated - On the right: pickled for one month
We lost a pregnant ewe and her lamb today. I thought the womb looked so cool, and the lamb was very cute. I kept the skin of the lamb, and one of the legs. Did you know their hooves stay soft and squishy until after birth, so they dont tear their moms?
Don't trust collectors who say that nasal turbinates don't matter.
The inside of an animal’s nasal cavity tells us lots of information about the environment it lived in and the family it belongs to. Aggressive treatments such as boiling damage them: anyone who uses those methods to “clean” bones is not a true enthusiast.
In the photo: harp seal, wolverine, striped hyena, cheetah.
I harvested this axis last last year, and finally got around to mounting him! He is the first animal I’ve ever hunted, and I made sure to use as much of him as I can. He fed me and my friends and family for a whole year! He’s drying, and soon I will paint him.
Prep No. KHE89
The main muscles that power flight are located in the chest of the bird, but thin tendons connect these muscles to control specific motions of the wings. Though a little morbid, during prep, it’s incredibly educational (and maybe fun…) to experiment with which tendons control which movements.
And I think that’s the last pelican post!
another beautiful (but dirty) critter, a black coyote, a petite southern female at 23lbs, her coat color is technically not black but actually seal, as it phases into both brown and gray within the black background. Very pretty!
Corpse eyes are always really wild.

The fucked up sculpture I bought from one of my favorite artists got delivered today hee hee ho ho
Isn't she gorgeous? It's a taxidermy of a fox depicted mid-skinning, with the musculature and blood depicted with the use of glittering rhinestones. I've been obsessed with this sculpture since the artist posted it years ago, and always hoped it would be for sale. So when it popped up for sale I immediately had to nab it.
Credit for this work of art goes to Nick DelCastillo, @ranbidermy on Instagram. If you haven't seen his taxidermy work, you should definitely check him out. His pieces are as beautiful as they are provocative.
Teethy grins!
I got dibs on this guy we found at work. He still had his velvet!
Also thought this leg was cool. You can see the bones and joints!
