Roberto Mitolo - Geisha with Chrysanthemums -70X70 - Acrylic on Japanese Fabrics - 2015
Geisha project consists of a series of canvases painted in black acrylic on Japanese fabrics commonly used to manufacture the colorful kimono. Each work represents a geisha with the face covered by her hands in a pose that may appear random or deliberate, leaving questions about the intentions of the artist / subject represented. The brutal overlap of the brushstrokes merges with the textures of fabrics to represent the duality emergence - denial.

PROMETEO-R Roberto Mitolo for Philips
Comes from the need to make more flexible and customizable public lighting. In contrast to fixed equipment, PROMETEO-R is free from constraints and autonomous in terms of energy. The nylon ball has a diameter of 2m and is covered on the top from amorphous silicon photovoltaic cells which feed a series of LEDs placed on a kind of ring of Saturn. The element fluctuates at about 3 m from the ground and is anchored thanks to a storage battery which permits the use the electrical energy (produced during the day) at night. The flame that characterizes the balloons and flying lanterns is replaced by a resistance which is also powered by photovoltaic cells. With reference to the myth of Prometheus, this object doesn’t characterize the light source itself, but the one who brings it, influencing from the sociological and psychological standpoint.
