i know the way people talk about their pets now is probably how we’ve been doing it for all of history. a cat owner in ancient rome saw their cat lounging on the dining pillows and commented “he thinks himself to be the senator claudius 🤣”

Hey there, it's been a while since I made Life is Strange fanart, so here's Max and Chloe! I just wanted to make a simple sketch, but then I decided to color it. This is maybe a couple months after the ending, Chloe just got her tattoo covered up with a black sleeve, but her hair is still quite short.
starkid's black friday arguably has some of the most powerful and well tuned songs. i truly think, despite it being ballad power hour, the music is beyond itself. it tells a story with the music that the other musicals don't fully do. like yes, every song in the musicals tells a story... but black friday songs/music literally fills every scene to its fullest.
I've posted about this before but back home at my old job I used to get pho so fucking often that the owners of the place stopped asking me what I wanted and stopped handing me menus when I walked in. After I moved to NY and I could only go back to Chicago like once a year, I sat down and they gave me a menu and I was like "Oh no I already know what I want, can I get--" and they were like OHHH #36 WITH EXTRA NOODLES YOU'RE BACK and I almost cried
“Why are you scared of dating” I’m not scared of dating, I just haven’t found anyone’s company to be more enjoyable than my own. And also I don’t care
I just don't want anyone to steal my very cursed amulet
Also the amulet
Is that you talking? Or the amulet? Are you SURE a new hand doesn't want to touch the beacon?
The amulet and I are not currently looking for a third
I saw this perfectly in my head and had to recreate it
Holy Shit
*hits the joint* In the Harry Potter universe, Merlin is canonically a Hogwarts alumni and a Slytherin, which is impossible because Merlin predates the existence of Hogwarts by centuries. Of course, JK Rowling didn’t know that because she is a dumb bitch. I’m sorry. Misogynistic phrasing. She is a willfully ignorant and hateful, deeply unlikable and ill-informed, untalented and unspeakably cruel…..person. Seriously, how could you write a series about British wizards without truly understanding THE British wizard. Anyway, Merlin would never be able to attend any sort of organized schooling. He’s definitely self-taught in every universe because he’s the most powerful wizard ever AND he’d have been expelled from any institution before he stepped through the door. The only reason they haven’t escorted him away from Camelot is because he can see the future and he is kind of like the king’s dad. I was so disappointed by BBC Merlin. I turned it on and I was like “What the fuck is this shit, where is my perverted old man?”
yeah yeah rainbow capitalism is bad and whatever but like. when I was a child, being pro gay was not the popular or lucrative choice. I'm happy that times have changed.
I miss rainbow capitalism. I do. I miss when it felt like public opinion was still pro gay. I understand it was always an empty gesture, but it mattered in a sense of knowing how socially acceptable being queer is. If that makes sense.
It was always a thermometer, not a thermostat, and I’m begging people to understand that.
A lot of us are old enough to remember when a company risked mass boycotts and organized campaigns for daring to sponsor a Pride or LGBT+ event. A lot of us are old enough to remember when you could not find Pride flags or other rainbow items for sale in mainstream stores anywhere. What changed was that companies felt the LGBT+ community was worth selling to, worth publicly standing behind and worth acknowledging. And now that's changed again for many companies, which is a canary in the coal mine that should concern all of us.
if u can’t handle me at my unjustified paranoia then you don’t deserve me at my completely accurate paranoia
It is really scary to see the conspiracy theories about ebola take shape and begin to weave their way through the internet. We are going to continue to see the emergence (and associated outbreaks of) new and novel viruses because of global warming, because the earth’s global population is higher than it has ever been and we are constantly on the move AND because so many ecosystems have been decimated. It is not a conspiracy. It is something we must be aware of. We cannot continue with the same conspiratorial and individualistic thinking that arose during the COVID pandemic, it will kill us all.
We have been aware of ebola for the past 50 years. We know bats in west and central Africa are virus reservoirs, they carry the viruses without showing symptoms. Outbreaks of ebola keep occurring because the viruses are now endemic and bats aren’t the only species that can harbor the virus without showing symptoms.
This is the 17th ebola outbreak in the DRC in the past 19 years. This is the second outbreak of the Bundibugyo virus in the DRC. The current outbreak is decimating gold mining regions because panning for gold is a perfect storm for zoonotic & water-based illnesses, you are constantly outside in nature, ankle deep in rivers and streams, interacting with others, often temporary workers sharing cramped accommodations. Historically and worldwide, mining camps and mining settlements have been decimated by infectious disease.
Ebola outbreaks will continue occurring for the foreseeable future, unless we figure out how to eradicate them in disease reservoirs. Downplaying the lethality of the viruses, turning a blind eye to it because it is occurring on another continent or preying on fear and creating conspiracies about it is extremely dangerous.
Does anyone know good ways to wash a 10 kg weighed blanket that doesn't fit into a bucket and can't go into the washer? Not because of blanket limitations but the laundry has 8 kg weight limit.
my friend's discord server has a "proof of touch grass" channel where they post pics of them doing regular activities outdoors/in public. i think many online spaces could benefit from such a thing
when i was super depressed - like struggling to eat anything barely able to get out of bed to pee depressed - my good friend asked me every day to send her a picture of me holding a leaf and a picture of a meal i was eating and it helped me significantly
(also, she was never judgey - if my meal was a single potato chip she would simply say good job eating a potato chip today <3 )
which is to say, i agree proof of touch grass is a good idea for online spaces
This kinda required my brain a bit
People are unfazed if you hate women but if you dislike dogs they assume you're a bad person
Tumblr users will read a post complaining about normalized misogyny and hyperfocus on your claim that it's ok to dislike dogs
Is it likr, hard to have a little patience? Like is it that hard?????
