A tan woman with foliage for hair walks up to and steals food right from Raphael’s hands. The dryad shoves it into their mouth. She doesn’t chew, instead her teeth- no- her roots extend towards what she managed to shove in and puncture it in an attempt to drain all its moisture and nutrients.
( @robinsonparkoak )
.... well there goes the single mortal joy i allow myself.
Looks over her glaring
You could atleast mind your manners
They close their mouth concealing the rest of the dehydrating and decaying digestive process.
It takes her a moment to chew before she finally responds.
“Tree tax, fae lord said I could and I’m starving ”
They seem to be scoping out who their next victim will be as they talk to Raphael. Despite her blasé attitude about her crimes, the dryad does look a bit emaciated
Ah yes of course all you beings the same
He snails his lip rolling his eyes
Do you require more sustenance or more substance
“Yes! This entire summer I’ve been ravenous!”
As if proving a point her stomach growls loudly.
“I used to eat for fuuuuuun but now I feel like I gotta cause these stupid bossy flowers taking up all the nutrients”
Sighs and snaps a plate full of sandwiches and candy appear on the ground
Disgusting
Well im sure the flowers are just trying to survive
Oakley makes a surprised but pleased squeak- the sound reminiscent of a branch swaying too far in the wind and creaking- they immediately grab a sandwich from the plate
“Thanks”
She takes a few bites before she responds, needing to keep her strength up. They do however pluck up one of the flowers with their other hand and give it to Raphael, it appears that this particular flower is covering practically every inch of the park. Theres a magical feeling to it as well
“Id say it’s a little beyond just surviving. Bossy little thing is telling the native wildflowers where to grow and they’re either listening or getting choked out”
Well one should do what it takes to survive
Tucks the flower into his front pocket
She nods in agreement as she grabs another sandwich.
“Ye, that’s why I started eating in this form more, I also tried harvesting the flowers too but they grow back so fast it costs more energy then it saves”
Then why don't you move the park is vast.
She looks at him like she’s never heard anything so silly
“I am not some sapling, Im a 127 year old oak tree. My roots are deep and established. The only way I’m moving without dying is if someone were to uproot me and then replant me.”
They take a frustrated bite to gather their thoughts before continuing after swallowing.
“Plus these flowers are Everywhere there’s nowhere left in the park to put roots down that wouldnt give me the same issues”
Well then you must stand with the changes they'll die soon when fall and winter comes
“With most flowers Id say you’re right but these ones… I’m not sure. They have deep roots that they intertwine with so many others.. they may come back in full force once spring returns. I shall still stand as I’m not so easily snuffed out but….”
She takes a moment, to think and devour another sandwich
“If the frost doesnt hold them back I may have to adapt”

Why is the tree allowed to steal???
What are you gonna do? Arrest a tree?
Can you do something about the nymph in the park that’s stealing from people?
Nope sorry, consider it entry fee
The weird tree person that lives in the park keep scaring stoners to steal their snacks
( @robinsonparkoak )
What? I thought we ran them though the woodchipper last year!?
Mia Chang
Nope, yall got the wrong tree 😜
Also anons a liar, I only take the snacks that are left as litter by the base of my tree!! Not my fault leaving my tree to talk scares people
trees are very 🥺 because sometimes i’ll stand under the shade of a tree and look up at it and it’ll sway its branches about in the wind and i’m like oh my God i’m alive and YOU’RE alive. we are alive together and made up of the same starry stuff and standing right next to each other in this moment on this earth. do u feel it when i reach out and press my hand to your trunk? can you hear me? i think you’re so neat. and then the sunlight filters through its leaves just so and that lovely green color leaves me dazzled. it’s just very nice to be an alive thing next to a different sort of alive thing
Uuuugh I’m starving…. Maybe I should startle some people and steal their snacks
i am dumber & smarter than u think. do not estimate me
seething about the fact that i will never experience photosynthesis in my own useless cells. i bet it feels so good when the light of the sun both warms you and fuels you at the same time. a bone-deep satisfaction mixed with a heated sugar-rush and endless brightness. not that i would fucking know
