pavizi review of the 2026 supergirl movie under the readmore. i typed this up on my phone immediately after exiting the theatre

I am upset. I am disappointed. I feel terrible that this is millie alcocks appearance as supergirl. this movie did not learn a single lesson from Superman. it does not respect the viewer, and the constant exposition, flashbacks and subtitled alien dialogue leave little room for Supergirl in the Supergirl movie. she spends three fourths of the movie drunk or dying. the color grading is so fucking dark and brown and even when it purposefully brightens up it is still brown and washed out even in direct sunlight. it's like they were actively afraid of color which is BAFFLING considering the source material. there's a glorious three minutes of Supergirl being Supergirl and being bright and cheerful and Doing Supergirl Shit and it's the best part of the movie. it's a poor adaptation of woman of tomorrow and frankly had they done Anything Else it would have been a better movie. it is the most aggressive 5.5 out of ten I have ever seen. I am beyond furious because female led stuff and female superhero stuff is already so fucking difficult to get produced and this will not help. the systemic misogyny present in the production design behind this movie (the inclusion of Clark and lobo when they were not originally present, the Girl Power vibes in the dialogue) showed that nobody involved had faith in it or even Respected the character and I am. upset!!!
