“So something totally not chill happened last night.”
1,000 cool points if you know what movie that quote is from.
But honestly I stumbled across something last night that was not cool at all. I take a lot of pictures of my friend’s bands that are local bands trying to break out into the music industry just like I’m trying to do with my photography.
I’ve had issues with some local artist about cropping out my logo. Which got resolved after I talked to them and explained why that’s not cool that they do that especially when I take these promo pictures for them for free. They got it.
But last night was the cherry on a shit-tastic sundae.
A local band who I thought were my friends had another photographer take their picture and copy I mean they are identical to the ones I took of them earlier in the year.
1. That’s not cool at all
2. Last night I was so angry and upset
3. I would love to expose who they are on the interwebs, but like Destiny’s Child once said “I’m not gonna diss you on the internet, because my Mama taught me better than that”
I just wanted to let beginning photographers know that this stuff happens and not to let this bring you down. You simply just cut your ties with the negativity.
If they ask me to photograph them again I will simply give them an invoice with the amount I feel is fair. I will then add the picture I took and the picture the other photographer took will no explanation, because I think it would be funny.
Fingers crossed they message me to do a shoot soon! :)
Because I’m original. ✌️
It was fourshadowing, guys. 💁
Last Friday (March 6th, 2015) when I was in New Orleans my friends took me to the Bayside/Sense Fail show. These are my friends.
Louisiana, y’all know how to have a good time! I was excited to see the two opening bands Seaway
and Man Overboard
I’ve never seen them play live and I was going to go to this show at their Chicago stop, but figured I should just see them here because why not. This was one of the few time were I wasn’t photographing the show (which is a weird feeling) so I decided to drink. (That’s Seaway in the background)
Which in hindsight wasn’t the smartest idea I’ve ever had. Considering I had to be up at 4am the next day to catch my flight back to Chicago. Regardless, I had a blast! It was fun to see how the crowds in the south are different from the ones in the midwest. One thing I noticed was no one seem to really know the opening bands beside maybe 2 or 3 people. I think were I was standing there was one boy who was singing along with me to Man Overboard’s Love Your Friends, Die Laughing if we were back in Chicago the whole crowd would be belting out “Shut up! Shut up! It’s my turn to talk” but here it was only myself and a few others. Another thing I noticed is that the concert goers are way more friendly than the ones up north. I made a few friends in the crowd. I put up this guys man bun for him because he didn’t know how to do it, I told him to start doing it that way and he’ll get all the ladies and at the end of the night when I was walking out of the venue I saw him making out with some girl! I felt so proud haha
Cheer to you guy! I also met a guy from London who didn’t have an accent or I was way too drunk to notice it but when he told us he was from London I asked “Where’s your accent?” My friend TJ was covering up for me and goes “oh there it is, yeah I can hear it” haha here’s the guy from London
I had an awesome time with my friends here are some really crappy iPhone pictures of Sense Fail and Bayside.
And my friend TJ got the set list from the sound guy. Here he is proudly showing it! haha
