My thing with figuring out if Im aromantic is that yeah I don’t really process love the same way other people do, but I don’t think it limits me from romance. Everyone says being aromantic is struggling to want high levels of emotional intimacy with another person, but what if my capacity for emotional intimacy just has a lower ceiling? What if my romantic love is there, but just scaled below yours in terms of what I want?

You want to live together, to unify our lives, to do everything together. I want to be roommates who sleep in the same bed on occasion, who have a deep understanding of the others wants and needs, love unconditionally and passionately, who occasionally do stuff together but understands that the other has their own life and shit. I need the emotional intimacy of a sailor at sea with a wife back at home, like you’re thinking about me, im thinking about you but we’re both kind of doing our own thing till I see you. We need to be on Elias Bouchard/Peter Lukas type timing. Fang Runin and Kitay type shit. Thats romance to me, I like this. Why does everyone think im weird? Maybe you’re weird!

I think it’s nice and romantic to think of a kind of union where you’re my everything and im your everything, but I dont think in the real world this really allows for that much application.
