Embracing Autumn: A Season of Reflection, Renewal, and Change.
After weeks of humidity that makes me break out in a sweat the second I step outside, I welcome the chiller days and especially chilies nights with open arms. I welcome all that fall offers... eating seasonally (hello farmers markets), movies, fall outfits that are now moved to the front of the closet. Countless cups of hot steaming teas.
I love the colours of September and October but the best time for me is late autumn. The time when the colours past their peak and the leaves on the trees are fading and falling as they stand bare after they've been battered by the winds and the rain. The wild flowers are just mere stalks others are crumpled like old rags.
I love driving along the back roads there is a clearer and deeper view into the woods. There the earth is much more visible. I can see the raised and flat surfaces of the land, paths hidden during the summer months now reveal themselves. There is stillness everywhere.
Autumn reminds me of that passage in the bible..."To everything there"s a season." Autumn is a time to rest, rejuvenate, reflect, to slow down. It's a time to release, let go of the old and prepare for something new.
It's a season that means something different for everyone. What is autumn to you?
