I don't know what this antipathy towards plumbers is about, but I have to admire the purity of the writer's loathing.
I may end up needing to ask for donations at some point. Not only is my partners mom at the hospital, and it has been a lot to stress on my partner and I, and I haven't always been able to get ride from friends and had to use ubers to check on her... I won't be getting paid for being her aide for any time she was admitted which at this point has been almost a full week at this point. We have food in the house at the moment. But given that we live pay check to paycheck it will be rough loosing a week of pay.
It might be worse than that... Not sure yet...
Hey yeah, shes pre-stroke and the doctors are talking about a living will. I'm gonna put this out here now. If she does die, I am not only gonna be dealing with the loss of a loved one, I will be out of work, and potentially out of housing. My gf and I have been trying to save to help move in with her partners but we are nowhere near that goal. Putting this out here now. Survival funds, paying off beds fun, potentially moving funds. I hadn't been asking for help because it felt selfish, that I should have been able to handle it all. But living paycheck to paycheck is scary and having to deal with this is scary. And it's not just me, its my partner who might be losing her mother. who is disabled and tries her best to help with the house but can't do traditional work. Castigators, Standard and Sacred Affliction
âWhoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them.â Â Â Â Â Â â Proverbs 13:24
Castigators can be found in the ranks of almost every pilgrimage. They serve an essential role in being the first and the foremost to provide direct spiritual guidance and vigorous moral correction to the milling hordes of their fellow Trench Pilgrims, acting not unlike the non-commissioned officers of a regular military force. The path of righteousness is not always easy to follow, and transgressions made by pilgrims must be promptly punished to remind supplicants that they must always fear Godâs Judgement more than the enemy or even death itself. As befits the Castigatorâs role they are often both imposing in stature, dour in dress and demeanour, and possessed of stentorian voices capable of penetrating even the most enraptured ears.Â
All Castigators bear a ceremonial scourge of some kind as their badge of office. The precise form of this instrument of correction punishment can vary greatly depending on the Castigatorâs patron saint and orthodoxy. For example, Methodians employ metal rods, the Dunstanians use hempen ropes, and the Mariansâ preference is for red-hot irons. The Lazarist Castigators of the Sacred Affliction commonly use scourges of braided leather, or of knotted hair shorn from their flock.Â
Gabriel Garcia Marquez is among my favorite authors. I wish I had more insightful things to say about Love in the Time of Cholera but it's just such an enjoyable read. Romantic and vital without straying into vulgar sentimentality.

this is not exactly correct. the earth is about 150 million kilometers from the sun which, when divided by 6792 years, gives a speed of 0.7 meters per second. according to Wikipedia, the exact transmission speed of nerves depends on the type of nerve cells and varies from person to person, with a maximum speed of 120 meters per second.
the nociceptors of the paleospinothalamic tract (responsible for prolonged pain) transmit at between 0.5-2.0 m/s, so The Cheney Sentinelâs choice of 0.7 m/s is perfectly fine, if on the low end. however, the nociceptors of the neospinothalamic tract (responsible for sudden sharp pain) transmit at 3-30 m/s. letâs take a speed on the low end, maybe 7 m/s.
if your arm was long enough to touch the sun and burn your fingers, you would first feel a sharp pain starting after 679.2 years, and a continuous throbbing pain starting after 6792 years.
this is assuming youâre floating in space above the Earth as you reached towards the sun. if you were standing on Earth and lifted your arm towards the sun then, due to the rotation of the Earth, it would take you much less time to feel pain.
This was post and reply were originally made in 2018 according to Tumblr, so we have NEW INFORMATION!
A 2019 study from Sweden found that pain can travel at the same speed as touch, which is between 75-120 m/s.
This changes the time it it would take for you to feel the pain to a mere 39.6 to 63.4 years, depending. (This is not taking into account the 2022 CalTech study that tracked nerve impulses traveling at 134 m/s, as I could not determine that these were ether touch or pain sensations.)
