Here‘s the (kinda rough) A4 sewing pattern for the plushie. I traced my pattern pieces and tried to put some actual size numbers next to them to make the scaling easier. I didn’t really know how to do seam allowance cuz i’ve only used a sewing pattern like.. once. I hope it’s still legible though!

Memento Mori

To celebrate Daniil Dankovsky‘s fun Steppe Vacation I‘ve been working on something a little more involved than usual. It took a bit longer to finish mostly because I was playing Pathologic 3 but also because I decided to create my own canvas (wood and fabric and all). I ended up with a perfectly sized but kinda wobbly canvas that was nice to use. In addition I also decided to add a glossy layer to try to make it seem more like stained glass (which was annoying to embroider through but I survived).

Overall I love how it turned out and I think it‘s a great tribute to a great game. Can‘t wait to put it up and marvel at the shiny bits whenever I walk past it.

Looks like my summer vacation is… over

To commemorate me getting into Kingdom Hearts (yeah I watched Do No Harm and got hooked by this silly world) I decided to make a little Sea-Salt Ice Cream Linoprint. I’m still catching up with all the games but I think so far that 358/2 days was my favorite. Kingdom Hearts really loves making up children and then making me feel bad for them…

I finally played Outer Wilds after having it on my backlog for years and wow…

everyone really was right calling it one of the games of all time. I loved everything about this game but especially how it made me look at our solar system in a new light. Now whenever I look up at the moon or the sun I can’t help thinking about the ginormous forces acting between them and earth and how these object have been locked into their interstellar dance for so much longer than I could imagine… so I guess thanks Outer Wilds for making me more interested in astrophysics.

I decided to add another patch to my jacket to commemorate me finishing the game. And this time for the black background I decided to try a new technique using triangles to break up the space a bit. I think it turned out alright and i hope it’ll help it from fraying to quickly.

Happy Birthday Pathologic!

I only recently played the game but i fell in love with its weirdness immediately (even tho i was getting my ass handed to me playing Haruspex route first)

I found myself with some more time on my hand and decided i would try a new hobby, and linocut has been pretty fun and messy so far.

Loved replaying Citizen Sleeper and playing the sequel. The story and the artstyle are truly amazing and i really wanted to try to bring some of the characters on fabric. Restraining it to the black and white (and pink) turned out pretty nice I think.

Well I usually draw the outline of the picture i’m trying to stitch on a piece of thin paper, cut it out and then pin it to the fabric. I then just embroider through the paper (and the fabric beneath it). After i’m done I tear off the paper carefully ( you can also make it wet first so it falls of easier) and afterwards I fill in the outline or add other embroidered bits to it.

With outlines that are functioning as standalone linework (that i don’t cover with satin stitch) like with these I usually do a whipped backstitch to make it one continuous smooth line.

TBH I don’t even remember where I picked up that method but it has made it so much easier getting an idea from paper to fabric. I hope it may help you too.

While replaying pathologic 2 for the achievements i’ve had a bit more time to chew on the symbolism of being prophesied to drown the town in rivers of blood, while also purposefully feeding blood to the earth to grow new life (herbs) as a game mechanic. So I decided to connect these two things and also have some fun painting twyre.

Pathologic has bewitched me like nothing has in a while and i needed to put all the blorbo thoughts into some patches.

The tragedian always did catch my eye when playing Pathologic classic so i decided to make my own version of the poster.

There was a crack in the Lake House…

I truly loved the themes and atmosphere of the Lake House DLC and was compelled to do another painting to hang next to my Night Springs ones.

What an amazing ride Alan Wake 2 has been. I‘ve never connected to a game quite like this before and it’s a bit bittersweet saying goodbye to it. Still, I‘m very much looking forward to what Remedy has planned next (can’t wait to play Firebreak next year).

Also happy birthday to Alan Wake 2! I can’t believe it’s already been a year.

Like everyone else i’ve been having a lot of fun with the photomode (i already got like 400 pics and i’m only halfway through the game).

Because every picture you take with this turns out to look like a goddamn painting I decided life should mimic art and did some redraws of some of my favorite shots. It’s a lot of fun and i’ll probably do even more when I get the time.

Follow the deer, to follow the owl…

(I present to you my magnum opus. Been working on it for like half a year. It has been a lot of trial and error to see what works and how it can portray the mind palace/writers room interestingly)

Here are some closeups:

Hardest part of Sagas half was the foliage, I had to hand paint the leaves darker and sew them into the mesh one by one.

I really had fun doing the embroidered graffiti but it was a pain to get the scenes from the plot board looking right (thank god for the photo mode giving me better pics to print out)

God this project has been the biggest thing i’ve ever done… so many different crafts in one. This game really fueled my creativity like nothing before.

I had the opportunity to paint some pottery 2 weeks ago and of course i decide to make my own Oh Deer Diner Mug, I think the colors turned out pretty good (although i’m definitely mostly gonna drink water out of it)

(I also used some of my photo mode pics as backgrounds cuz my printer would’ve died with how dark the Return sleeve actually is)
