Udon Announces <i>Mega Man X</i> Prequel One-Shot, <i>X2</i> Comic Series

Rockman Corner covers Mega Man and Rockman news, merchandise, game preservation, interviews, fan projects, rare finds and updates from Capco

Teased in the back of Mega Man X #5, Udon Entertainment formally announced two new Mega Man X comic projects at San Diego Comic-Con.

The first is Mega Man X: Dawn of Sigma, a one-shot prequel set before the events of the original Mega Man X. According to Udon, the story will explore how Zero joined the Maverick Hunters and introduce a brand-new Maverick.

Udon also announced a six-issue adaptation of Mega Man X2, planned for release later this year.

See, originally I was just going to end the comic with X and Zero departing to fight Sigma, but then I got this really great idea while using the bathroom the other day that told me I should inflict suffering upon X instead because sad robots are great. :3

The main problem I have with Iris is that she doesn’t haunt the narrative enough. We should’ve seen Zero preferring to go on missions without a navigator so he can avoid getting close to another. We should’ve seen him cutting off Maverick’s during their speeches because he’s afraid of hearing her voice echoing just under the surface. We should have seen him shutting X down every time he tries to make him promise that he’ll kill him if he ever loses himself, because deep down Zero knows that’s a promise he can’t keep.

I don't know how I was able to make a third page on another, late work night after drawing a second one yesterday. Alas, I exist ferally and uncontrollably, and this is what I have wrought.
