I have become increasingly pissed off by the general public and their incessant need to shout their opinions in everyone’s faces. I realize that’s exactly what I’m doing here, but no one will read it anyway, so there.
When I joined Facebook (circa 2006), it was a place to stalk people you went to college with. It was a place to post all of your drunk party photos so you could feel cool and involved. It was a place to add the cute guy you met the night before and hop that he messaged you. It was a place to show everyone from high school how great your life has become. It was a petty, fake place to put on airs.
Now, Facebook seems to be a place for everyone to sound off on the slightest thing. It’s a place for people to say “HEY! My opinions are correct and yours are WRONG!”. It has become a place for people to shout their views on politics and race, basically anything you wouldn’t talk about at a party. Why does this bother me? Let me count the ways.
1. Yes, I know it’s your page so you can post whatever you want. But when you added me as a friend, I did not think I would have to scroll past thousands of articles about the same damn thing every single day. And I can’t delete you because social standards views that as rude, and I have to see you every other day so I don’t want to deal with your uppity bullshit because I removed you from my friendslist. Also, these issues seem to be the only thing on your small little mind. If you care about them THAT much, do something about it! You work in retail, you don’t talk about these things in person, you just go home and post every single article and meme you find. Guess What? Your posts do not change anyone’s mind, they just fuel on every small minded asshole that agrees.
2. Politics on “social” media. SOCIAL : relating to or designed for activities in which people meet each other for pleasure."Guy led a full social life"
I can tell you one thing, your posts are not filling me with pleasure. No one even bothers to post facts to support their opinion. They just go on and on and on about what they think is right. Everyday I see “I hate Hillary Clinton, she is so evil. Let me show you what Fox news said about her.” Whether I agree or not, posting memes saying that she’s stupid just makes YOU look stupid. If you want to change someone’s opinion state some FACTS instead of a picture making fun of an ugly suit she wore. We are not voting for prom queen! You are proving that you are ill informed.
3. Religion. I believe in freedom of religion. Believe whatever you want to believe. It has nothing to do with me, so let’s keep it that way. Posting religious crap all over Facebook just puts a deeper divide between the religious and nonreligious. I do not believe in god. I do not believe in any religion. I believe that when we die our body rots and turns into dirt. As for spirit? Nothing. We just die, there is no heaven, no hell. There is literally nothing. I don’t feel the need to tell anyone about that. I do not post it anywhere. Mainly because it is no one else’s beeswax. So please, stop with the posts saying that my life sucks because I don’t believe in god. If that’s what you think, fine! But I don’t see anyone asking for your opinion. All you’re doing is causing me to roll my eyes in disgust and build up a lot of anger towards you because you’re constantly insulting me! No, those posts are not saving anyone’s souls, they’re simply pissing every non believer off and further solidifying the any bitterness we feel towards the church.
4. Animal rights. I am an animal person. My cat is my son. Gorillas, lions, ducks, opossums, you name it I think it’s cute! I also think animals are equal to humans. Why? Humans are animals! Duh! I also eat meat. Vegans especially seem to find this astoundingly strange. After the whole Harambe shooting, there are dozens of posts saying “People outraged over one gorilla being shot, yet don’t blink an eye to the 20,000 pigs slaughtered every day. This is the exact same thing, we are all equal.” Yes, we are all equal, but it is NOT the exact same thing. For one thing, people do not get outraged over pigs being slaughtered because it isn’t on the news, so they don’t even think about it. Stupid? Yes. Also, gorillas are an endangered species, pigs are not. So if there was a pig and a gorilla standing in front of me and one of them had to die I would choose the pit because there are millions more of them. It’s just about numbers. If there was a human and a pig in front of me and I had to choose one to die, I would choose the human because there are trillions more of them. Again, it’s just about numbers. “How can you say you love animals and eat them?” Simple. Humans have always eaten meat, it’s part of our diet. Tigers eat meat too, to survive. Or should we put a salad in front of them and see if they eat it? “But they’re in nature and have to do it to survive. You can survive on plants.” I guess I could, but I wouldn’t enjoy it. Part of life’s joy is finding pleasure in what you eat. I like meat, it’s tasty. Also, whether you accept it or not, that is OUR nature. And guess what! It human meat was offered in stores, I would buy it! Because yes, I do think animals and humans are equal. I don’t care when someone dies. Whoop de doo! People go nuts over a shooting and how it’s the most awful thing. There are way too many people on this earth. And literally thousands die every single day but no one seems to care unless they were shot. That doesn’t make sense to me. And yes, I have family members die. Was I upset? Of course! But it’s part of life. So if it were up to me, I would have let the kid die in that enclosure. Why? Because there are billions more humans than there are gorillas. One human gone, will NOT make a difference. Humans are literally an infestation. We are worse than cockroaches. We have taken over the entire planet and killed everything in our way. So no, I don’t care one bit when people are in danger. “Yeah well if someone dropped a bomb, you’d be dead too!” So? I’d be dead, so I wouldn’t care. The only people who seem to care are religious church goers. I’m not afraid of death. So why are god lovers so afraid of it? According to them loving god will send you straight to heaven right?
Also, for the vegans going on and on about how they’re better than everyone else for being vegan and thinking that no animal should be caged or killed: Do you kill bugs? Do you stomp on a spider? Swat a fly? According to you, nothing should be killed... I also see that you have a pet cat. That cat happens to be an indoor cat. Meaning it’s a caged animal. But that doesn’t count, right?
