( well my life is ) I met Rob Steele ( guy is too cool for social media ) A few years back with a all time legend @michaelwekerle . Rob called me a few months ago and said “hey man I want to get some paintings ...” well he did he got a lot of pieces and I couldn’t be more happy when I saw this show up in my phone !! Today !!! I’ve been consumed with idea of reality and what is real , light vs dark : good vs bad : what is real vs what is imagined : what one persons reality is vs what another believes: My answer is it’s very much like this video I made , reality is easy disturbed, constantly changing and above all not agreed upon , reality is how you are experiencing everything in your life and soul , thus your reality is malleable , stretchable and easily destroyed or rebuilt completely. Open Letter To My Mom: JUST TOOK THIS ON MONDAY !! 😎 My Favorite Person Under 4’10” ! You are my best friend , my creator, biggest fan , and the person who taught me how to make good choices and understand love. Understand Love is important, and Good Choices = GOOD LIFE I’m sorry for being “that kid” , I was not easy and very strong willed. My mom would go to teacher parent conferences and it more like a intervention “ why is he so messy “ , “why is he so loud “ , “why does he never do home work” , “ why does he not play with other kids “ , why does it seem his daily goal is to distract and take over the class” “He refuses to listen and only draws “ Mom you were always on my side , and if I looked at you in the morning and said I don’t want to go to school today , you would “ cool let’s hang out “ so many fond memories spent in nature and doing things with my mom. No matter what I’d done she defended me , even when she knew I did it and I was wrong.. she would say “ that doesn’t sound like something my son would do” the in private she would look at me and say ... “ what is wrong with you... why are you insane all of the time... you have to stop being a maniac “ 🛑 NOTE I SPENT MOST OF MY CHILDHOOD IN TROUBLE , GETTING SUSPENDED, KICKED OUT , PADDLED ( DAILY NOT KIDDING ) AND NO LONGER ALLOWED TO BE AROUND OTHER CHILDREN SO I WAS IN ISOLATION AND MADE TO SIT IN THE PRINCIPALS OFFICE AND WAS NOT ALLOWED TO TALK OR SEE KIDS !! I remember telling “ I’m not doing school work anymore, it’s useless they can’t teach me what I need to know for my life “ she said hands on hips , “ ok I believe in you and I know you will make the right choices in your life, do what you fell is best” This is not and overtly art post but this is about the art of life and my favorite person on the planet! 🙏PLEASE SWIPE THROUGH! AND READ This is Boro or (‘life-cloth’) , it’s a collection of literal time. This fabric was used in Japan from Edo up to early Showa (17th – early 19th century). It’s was used for warmth , for the family futon and it was used as the first thing a baby would come in contact with in this world, passed down by generations. So the child would first be in contact with the generations that came before he or she. ❤️PERSONAL: I have lived many lives more than you can understand, I have loved and lost more than I can share with you. The beauty of this (time) piece takes me back and makes me be so thankful for how this universe works. I’ve lost so many people who were dear to my heart for one reason or another and this Boro reminds me that we are all part of a universal clothe woven since before time. I’m fortunate to feel that clothe in a very real way and know we are all connected. You don’t know when someone enters or leaves your life , you don’t get to choose that. You can’t live in fear . The only choice is LOVE and if you can live in love you will find yourself surrounded by a universal fabric of moments and people who made your life worth living. There is never not space in this fabric of love we create, and when someone for whatever reason chooses to move from you , it’s your choice to gently stitch them into your (LOVE BORO) and you will always hold a piece of them in your heart and soul. Jordan : Which one ????? Inspiration Read Below : Because I grew up in an era of super humans. I remember seeing Michael Jordan fly. I remember desperately wanting a pair of his shoes. Seeing Jordan DEFY GRAVITY , do something that no one else could or has ever done since inspired me. I’m not a huge basketball ball fan , I don’t have a favorite team.. it was the way he defied gravity. Things are different now everyone is faster and bigger , every one is every where a mass amount of focus-less data. This is the best part I never even owned a pair of Jordan’s, even till this day. I think now we are meant to think , we are all the same , that everyone is equal and no one is special that we all have the same abilities and chances , and it’s just not true. We are all infinitely different and special , each one with talents and restrictions..talents can be magnified restrictions can be broken but in order to bend break and shape reality you have to believe you are different and special, you have to be driven to be a better version of not who you are but who you are meant to be. This is why Michael Jordan is important in my life he showed that , boundaries, limitations, restrictions, laws, rules , conditions are all a form of SYSTEM CONTROL .. when I saw him Dunk in 1988 it changed me because I realized somehow he found away to defy the rules and was a superior super human. I realized the limits were fake , we are boundless. The light and sculpting an object with it. I shut the studio doors to the world today, I sat with myself in thought and listening not to my thought but those of the universe. I turned all the lights out and then I found this . Which before I’d only seen it as defused light , but do to this time of year (axis of the earth) and the time of day , this happened in a place that before there were screens stacked so I couldn’t see it. I don’t believe in accidents🖤 @britwoodward and @ianmbrand came and visited me yesterday day. I’ve known Brit for over 7 years. She is a amazing being , she wrote something one day on her blog and it touched me...and I reached out to her and said “ I’m an artist and you should come paint I won’t ever hit on you and have no agenda just come paint this is my promise” and through the years this became the TRUTH of our relationship was built on that little sentence . I don’t think we even hugged more than 7.5 times.. I never saw her as anything but a being who needed to paint.. who needed a man who would not try to get in her pants,someone she could trust.. It’s not because she is not attractive.. it’s because I believe we need people in our life and sometimes we just need a friend not a “friend +”. So many people asked if I was “hooking up” with her and no one ever believed me.. especially women I was dating. Yesterday she gave me a big hug and said softly I love you and I’m so proud of you.. I pulled away because I’m not a hugger .. but what I didn’t say is , Brit I am proud of you! YOU MADE GOOD CHOICES . Ian is a amazing guy you have so much light inside of you.. I’m so happy I could see how much he loves you. We are all a little broken ,we are all doing our best and in this life all that matters is LOVE. This is what I call one breath painting .. meaning each color was laid down in order as listed above and done with one breath in my lungs. Only consciousness and flow , no do overs no corse correction . Due to the injury in my right arm I had to move much slower with absolute percussion as there could only be one breath for each color.. when I finished with the red I knew that was the last breath in he piece. I shot it right away it’s still drying a bit.. “give it everything, Everything you got then step back and know you did your best, anything less is heartless attempt at life” I am thankful that I have this strong body to move me through this universe I am sure it will heal it’s self soon. This is what love looks like, these two and their stories where such a highlight of my night I laughed most of the night.. @dennis_jarvis and @crystaljarv made the trek from the Hermosa Beach to have dinner. Always the way to my studio !! It’s only about 14 miles but in LA THATS 1.5 hours ... On top of that I made them wait... I guess I’m just that guy... We live in a world of insecurity and doubt spread by our favorite apps INSTAGRAM and FACEBOOK . I reflected on their story while at dinner , and I thought this would never happen now in this world of insta models , DM’s and WhatsApp.. swipe left swipe right .. they had to actually spend time together , trust each other and grow to love each other ..they had to deal with distance and knowing in their heart they were meant to be... it made my heart swell they even argue cute... (you reep what you sow...) look it up if you don’t get the reference. I think now we meet people who under any other time we would of fell head over heels for but now there is always a unlimited vault of people constantly tearing at the underbelly of what love is... at what a relationship is... friends + or open relationship... just hanging out...I guess I’m from another time ...
