im really into the idea of post-epilogue byler where mike and will are spending a lot of time together and will's trying to guard himself because he knows the wheelers are hawkins' main export of mixed signals but eventually he does something overtly romantic maybe mentions the painting in a really heartfelt way and talks about how much he loves wills art and to his immediate surprise will gets pissed

like genuinely angry

and he just gets up and starts to leave and mike is so confused like will where are you going? and will's like why are you doing this to me again

and they start to argue (and its raining)

and eventually they reach a peak where mike's like "i don't understand why you're angry! you're the one who rejected me!"

and will's like ??? what???? and mike is finally the one with the FACTS in their arguments.

he can just be like "you're the one who said i was tammy, remember? you said i was just your tammy and it was never about me. and then when i tried to talk to you on the tower, you're the one who said you just wanted to be friends. you wouldn't even talk to me about it. and you're the one who lied about the painting, will! you never gave me a chance. why is this on me? why am i the bad guy here?"

and will is just ike totally and completely bewildered because everything he interpreted as "protecting the sanctity of our friendship" mike interpreted as "will genuinely does not want to be with me" and he didn't realize he was such a good liar

Such a wasted potential that they didn't portrayed Will's fear about his sexuality and coming out related with the pandemic of AIDS in the 80s and how discriminated homosexual people were treated, it could have made his fears more interesting knowing the social context of that time, like idk you have a series that is contextualized on the 80s and then you don't use it at all?

I feel like Stranger Things wasted a lot of potential in not exploring problems of that time (they explore some but could have done a lot more). Seems like they set the series in the 80s just for the music taste lol.
