Roman’s professor. Ya that’s me

On the first day of my Spanish class the professor was like “who here is a native Spanish speaker?” and like ten people raised their hands.

And my question for native speakers taking Spanish 1 for an easy A is not why they’re doing that but why would they admit it publicly

Today my speaking partner in class was a native speaker and he was smart enough to not out himself to the professor. Like how I don’t tell the professor that I understand Spanish but haven’t spoken it much. We keep secrets. We keep our easy A stepping stones to higher levels. We don’t put ourselves in a situation where we’re getting lectured about joining a higher difficulty class that we don’t want.
