Ancient Powerhouse - the Shark (Rin and Sousuke)

Sharks are majestic sea creatures surrounded by myth and misconception. Until the 16th century, sharks were known as “sea dogs.” Only a handful of species are solitary hunters, such as the great white shark, but even they often coexist in groups while other species enjoy social behavior. Sharks are near the top of the marine food chain and are especially active in the evening when they hunt, some migrating great distances to do so. All sharks sense electricity in the water given off by living creatures and possess a tactile sense that allows them to detect water speed and pressure changes nearby. They are powerful swimmers that, studies have shown, exhibit curiosity and play-like behavior.

Haru was too lost in thought as he cleaned to notice Rin moving to stand behind him, so when he suddenly wrapped his arms around his waist, he was startled and tensed up for a few seconds before he allowed himself to relax in the other’s hold. He kept washing the dishes and didn’t reply for a moment. “I don’t know,” he repeated, letting the torrent of emotions he felt show in his voice. He set the plate he had just cleaned on the drying rack next to the sink then rested his hands on the edge of the counter in front of him. “I don’t think you can…” They’d already talked, but he still had uncertainties about the thought of going pro. He was still scared of what the future would hold for him, and he didn’t think Rin would be able to do anything to prove things would go well nor could he ask him to sleep with him every night to make sure his nightmares wouldn’t return.  “I should be fine on my own.” He tried to offer some reassurance to put them both at ease, but his voice betrayed him, shaking from all the doubts he still had.

Rin felt his heart sinking listening to Haru. It was clear that the other male wasn’t going to fine, but what could Rin do? He didn’t know what the future held for the two of them so he couldn’t tell him how everything would be fine. He felt so powerless to help Haru and he hated it. Haru had been through so much, mainly because of him and he felt that his nightmares were also his fault as well. He let out a heavy sigh and held him a bit tighter. “I wish…I wish I could take all your troubles away. It hurts me so much seeing you like this,” he said softly. He honestly didn’t know if Haru heard him.

Then an idea popped into Rin head and he let go of Haru. “Haru. Come with me with Australia.” Maybe, just maybe, if he could show him other places that he could swim at if he went pro his worries would lessen. It was better than leaving him on his own. He leaned on the countertop and looked at Haru with a warm smile. “Think of it as a small vacation. What do you say?”

Haru turned to look at Rin when he felt his hold loosening, wondering where he was going. His eyes widened at the sudden proposal, and he looked away as he thought about it. He’d never really thought about going to Australia before, not even to visit when Rin had first moved away when they were kids. He’d always viewed it as a far-off, foreign land where everyone would be speaking in a language he hardly knew. It wasn’t something he had really been interested in, but now… now he was seriously considering the offer.

“Ok,” he said finally. “Ok, I’ll go.” Right now, it seemed better than here. He wouldn’t have to face everything and everyone who was putting pressure on him to succeed and decide on his future. He could get a small break from the constant, overwhelming reminders that graduation was fast approaching and he’d have to find a way to move forward somehow or be left behind. He could just be alone with Rin who was taking the time to slow down and meet him where he was to try to help him find his path forward.

Rin couldn’t help but smile brightly and kiss Haru forehead softly. He was so happy that Haru had agreed to come with him to his second home. He had wanted to show Haru a different place, different sights, and mainly a different choice for him.  Maybe if he came with him, he could find an answer to his nightmares. “Great, we can leave tomorrow. I can help you pack your stuff and I’ll take care of everything else,” he said with a warm grin. He knew Haru would be worried and try to say that tomorrow was too soon, but it was better to strike while the iron was still hot. He let Haru go and started to head back to the living room and began text Sousuke what he had planned.

“Tomorrow?” Haru questioned and turned to look at Rin. Wouldn’t that be too soon? Even if he wasn’t the one who’d have to worry about making them, preparations would still have to be made. They’d have to get tickets, find a place to stay- would there really be enough time to do everything? Before he could voice any of these concerns, however, Rin was already heading off to another room and typing away on his phone.

Haru turned back to the soapy water in the sink with a soft sigh. He tried to assure himself that everything would work out, that this sudden trip would be just fine and maybe even help him find a path he could take so he could keep moving forward.

"Hmm? Yea tomorrow." Rin pulled out his phone to text Sousuke the latest details. Of course he wasn't about to tell him about Haru breakdown or anything, but he didn't want to leave without telling his roommate where he was going. He looked up at Haru with a soft smile. “I was actually planning to visit soon since my home stay parents sent me two tickets to come to visit. Also,  don’t worry about anything. I’ll arrange everything.”

After Rin found a place and arrange the hotel room he went back into the kitchen. “I’m gonna head back to the dorm to pack. You gonna be okay?” Rin really didn’t want to leave Haru just yet, but he had to get things ready for their trip.

Sousuke woke up in the middle of the night panting, he looked to his side and saw Rin which made him a lil bit calmer. He had been suffering from nightmares since he injured his shoulder.

Rin had been sleeping peacefully until he felt Sousuke move. His eyes opened slowly and saw the pale expression on his face. “Sousuke?” He sat up, still half asleep, but he knew something was wrong and Sousuke needed him. “Nightmares again?”

“Yes” Sousuke smiled softly at Rin “Sorry, Did I wake you up love?” He kissed his forehead gently “Go back to sleep huny, I’ll be fine” He hated himself to death because of that, annoying Rin with his stupid nightmares, and waking him up every single night.

A soft purr could almost be heard when Sousuke kissed Rin forehead. He was half asleep but didn’t want to go back to bed until Sousuke would. He lend forward to kiss Sousuke bad shoulder gentle and nuzzled his face in his lovers chest. “Sousuke,” he said softly. “I’ll beat all those nightmares away for you,” he said before looking up at him with a loving smile. “I love you.”

Sousuke couldn’t help but smile, Rin always made him smile no matter how bad the situation was, he wrapped his arm around Rin pulling him to his wide, bare chest. He was a lil bit sweaty from the stress he had from that nightmare “I love you so much, my angel” He whispered, small drops of tears were just on his cheeks, and he prayed to whatever god that Rin won’t see or feel them.

Rin couldn’t help but smile when Sousuke pulled him close. He knew how worried Sousuke had been and he wanted to help him as much as he could because he loved him dearly. “I love you too.” He pulled back a bit and froze when he saw the tears going down his face. Normally he would tease him like Sousuke did with him but now wasn’t the time. Rin reached out to touch Sousuke cheeks. “Sousuke….i’m here for you. No matter what happens, I will always be here for you and always love you,” he said softly before leaning close to kiss his lips.

Sousuke kissed him deeply, his hands cupped Rin’s face while their tongues danced together, sousuke pushed his tongue in tasting every part of his mouth, “Rin,” He whispered against his lips, “I love you ..I love you so much” Sousuke snuggled his head to Rin’s neck, allowing himself to inhale the sweet aroma of his shampoo,“I don’t know what would I do without you.”

Rin couldn’t help to moan against Sousuke lips. Every moment of the kiss made him feel like he was melting. He loved how Sousuke could make him feel this way. He grabbed onto his shirt when Sousuke kiss deepen. He felt like he was going to pass out, but as quickly saw the kiss started, it was over.

A soft smile graced Rin lips when Sousuke snuggled against his neck. He wrapped his arms around Sousuke and held him tight. “I love you too Sousuke. Don’t worry. No matter where I go, you will always have my heart,” he said softly before muffling his face in Sousuke soft hair.

Rin whipped his tears away. “Shut up. I’m not crying.” He looked away with an angry, yet adorable pout. “You keep making fun and teasing me.” He then looked back at Sousuke. still with a pout. “Do you enjoy it that much?”

Rin felt his face on fire. He hated being teased by Sousuke mainly because he always made his heart race uncontrollably. When he whispered in his ear, Rin kicked him. “You - I - AHH!” Rin knew his face was matching his hair. “Stupid Sousuke!” he said storming away, trying his best to hide is tomato face.

Aika paused before sliding into the pool water, shivering just a bit. He looked up at Momo as the boy began to ramble on, not actually able to keep up with any of his questions. He let out an awkward squeak and just nodded. That’s all he could do, and it made him feel stupid.

He looked at Nitori and smiled weakly, softly yawning. “Thank you.” He squeaked nervously, realizing how safe he had actually felt around Rin before he had gone off with the other two.

Even though Rin should be focusing on everyone, he noticed that his gaze would always seem to find to find Aika, Would Aika be ok? Was he worrying too much? Aika was in good hands with Ai and hopefully, Momo would help him open up more. He also had to walk to him about rooming with together. He let out a small sigh and rubbed the back of his neck. For the first time in a long time, he was looking forward to the end of practice.

Ai held on to the stopwatch. “Alright Aika. Ready….set…GO!”

He felt so alone even with these two boys with him. Momo was a nut, and all Aika could do was laugh a bit and nod. Ai was honestly adorable in his own way, not Aika’s type though.

He looked up at Ai and and nodded before pushing off with incredible built up force he had stored until the moment of push off. He let his hands cut through the water, occasionally noticing Rin from the corner of his eye when he came up for air. He really just wanted to go back to the dorm and chill out for once without having to worry about his next meal or if his mother was home.

Rin glanced over at water as Aika swam and smiled a bit. He had worried about the other male all day, but he was glad to see he was doing alright with Ai and Momo. The practice was a good one. Rin got to see Aika strength and weaknesses and even got to see Ai taking up a more leadership role as he helped Aika. Once it was over, Rin waited for his new roommate outside of the locker room.

Rin was so much taller than Aika, but he didn’t mind that at all. He honestly loved the fact that Rin was taller than him. He was easier to hide behind.

At times, there were so many things that he wanted to tell him. He wanted to tell Aika how much he loved him and how he would protect him forever, but he felt that loving touches and caresses always seemed to be enough for the moment. He closed his eyes and held Aika closer. “I love you.”

Aika always longed for the amazingly loving touches. They always calmed him when he was nervous, especially before a huge swim meet or tournament. Rin was the only one who could ever calm Aika down in a situation of anxiety, and Aika couldn’t be prouder to call Rin his lover. He loved him too much to ever let him slip away. “I love you too!” He smiled wide, happy as can be.

Rin couldn’t help but smile back. It wasn’t as wide and bright as Aika, but it didn’t need to be. He gently stroke Aika hair and kissed his forehead. He was so happy at this moment, but it was interrupted by a ring of his phone. “I guess the pizza is here,” he said with a grin. He let go of Aika and sat up. “I’ll be right back,” he said before going downstairs to get the food.

Aika hummed and leaned into the touches happily. He flinched when Rin needed to leave, and he was contemplating pouting and insisting he not go. He didn’t do that, and moved aside to let him go off and get food. Sighing softly but happily. Without Rin, he felt empty and lonely. He knew his lover would–with no doubt–return to him, though. That reassurance kept him calm.

Rin thanked the delivery man for the pizza before turning on his heels to head back to his room. He never liked the idea of leaving Aika alone, mainly because he knew how he worried when he was alone. Rin also didn’t want Aika to hurt himself. He opened the door with a bright smile. “Pizza time!”

He got a piece of paper and a pen and scribble some stuff down. Heading back to Makoto, he handed him the paper. “Here is address. He’ll be working today until 10 and should be home about 11.”
