Could we get some headcanons as to what kind of father would Jun be to his and the Ronin's kids?

sure thingy ! 

Jun : 

Jun vows to be a better father than his own, that’s for sure. But it proves to be a difficult task, given his lack of social skills and uh. Empathy. And patience. Maybe even some common sense. Human emotions are difficult to understand, don’t judge him. He’s come a long way thanks to the ronin, but sometimes, they find him fuming and brooding outside because their kid wouldn’t stop crying and wailing because of him. Jun isn’t stupid, he knows children are fragile and handling them with care is a must - but he often forgets that he has the strength of a fucking bear and the finesse of a blind duck.

Nonetheless, he still adores them to death ! Metaphorically and literally ! There’s a sense of pride and happiness whenever he looks at the new life he and his new family have built, so he becomes very territorial and protective - specially to outsiders who think they can just waltz in and play with his baby kid and make them laugh. Also known as Masa and all of the ronin’s friends. Jun doesn’t even try to hide the fact that he’s jealous. However, he pays close attention to the way they all interact so he can do better in the future (even if it just looks like he’s glaring at them very intensely)

Jun is super super super eager to teach his kid the way of the sword - with enough prodding and patience (and a few years cause hoo boy), the ronin might even convince him to drop the idea of teaching their kids about the Jigoku, let alone make them inherit such power. Still, that kid is learning how to swing to katanas even if it’s the last thing Jun does. Hell, he probably even has a custom made katana prepared just for them stored somewhere.

Also, Jun refuses to let the kid sleep alone until they’re like, 12 or so, mostly due paranoia and such. Their futon will be stuck between Jun’s and the ronin’s - which is great during winter and if they ever get any nightmares. Since Jun is a light sleeper, he’ll be ready to keep them company until they fall asleep again. The ronin sometimes can hear Jun ramble and talk to himself about how lucky he is and other wholesome things he’d never say outloud in broad daylight. 

It just hit me that I wrote this thinking about them having one child, so here’s an extra round for a big family. 

If they have many kids, Jun will unconsciously favour the first one to ask him to teach them how to use a katana. It’s just in his dumb himbo blood, man. But the second the ronin points this out, Jun would feel extremely guilty and watch himself to prevent any favoritism, after all, they’re all his dumb little babies. 

This bastard has so many repressed feelings and he’s emotionally constipated, but the aura of pure genuine JOY around him whenever their children start climbing on him or asking him to give them piggy rides and such can be spotted a mile away. Jun is unable to say no in this situation so just imagine this giant man with a bunch of kids all clinging onto him in the middle of town - but honestly. he doesn’t care if peopl stare, those muscles are now exclusively to protect, bench press and lift all these babies.

If one of his kids ends up looking more like him, you can bet he’s gonna be all smug about it to the ronin. Don’t mind him, he still likes to win one sided contests. Jun will probably go on about how his “superior genes won over the ronin’s”. 

He’s definitely the type of dad to confuse his children if they’re twins - however, he can tell them apart by scent alone, as well as subtle habits they might have.

How do you think Momoko/ronin domestic life would look like in a modern AU?

aye, sorry for the inactivity lads - and happy new year too ! 

Momoko :

Not gonna lie, the ronin is probably jobless - they might take odd jobs here and there from time to time or maybe they’re involved in shady business - but Momoko is the powerhouse of the relationship. She works at the hospital as a doctor, takes care of taxes and all of that Adult Nonsense(tm) the ronin tries really hard to avoid. Because of this, the ronin is in charge of keeping the house relatively decent, buying groceries etc etc. 

Momoko’s job means that she comes home rather late, but this doesn’t stop the ronin from going to pick her up at ungodly hours. They often insist about getting a few drink together, an offer Momoko has to turn down everytime (except for those really bad days when she really needs a break). 

Sometimes, the two will eat at a nearby food stand. Sometimes, when the ronin doesn’t feel like picking her up, they’ll try to cook dinner and wait for her - Momoko will find two cold plates and a sleeping ronin, curled up in the sofa or completely sprawled out on their shared bed, still fully clothed. She appreciates their efforts and will most likely end up passing out next to them in the end lol.

No one thinks they’re together. Like, their friends, even the ones they have in common, still can’t process it. The fact that both keep PDA at a minimum when they’re outside might also add to the problem - however, behind closed doors, the two are casually touchy feely. Momoko specially loves tracing compliments and sweet nothings on the ronin’s back or caress their scars (if they have any and they don’t mind). She also loves when the ronin plays with her hair - but it usually ends up in a funny hairstyle or very tangled.

No fancy dates. While they can afford to eat at a fancy restaurant from time to time, both aren’t really interested in dressing up fancy and pretending to be really elegant and proper just to eat. Both enjoy the more casual and comfortable dates when they can relax and focus on each other, like a walk through town or staying home to cook or bake together.

Oooh, could you write another version of the ronin learning to be literate, but this time from Kohaku or Momoko? 👀

aye, of course ! i’ll do both !

Kohaku : 

Kohaku is respected and even somewhat feared by all of the other Tanimura Champions (minus Nishi cause y’know, she fears no human, what a wife) - but that cool and calm demeanor breaks down when the ronin approaches them. They can see him physically restraining himself from hugging them to death right there out of excitement. Instead, Kohaku would just take their hand into his own, pressing it onto his chest - all while promising that he won’t rest until they’ve mastered the art of reading, whatever that means. 

Part of him r e a l l y wants to make their schedule a 24/7 thing just so he can hog all their attention, seven days a week - but those feelings would contradict his need to be a Decent Human Being and a proper teacher for the ronin. BUT also also - you know those parents who try to be strict and responsible, yet have soft spots for their kids so they end up spoiling them in the end ? That’s KINDA Kohaku. He’ll wake up the ronin at exactly 6 am with the determination of an entire army, but the second they ask him to let them sleep 5 more minutes, he’s out of their hair to let them rest. 

So long story short, the ronin can get away with pretty much a lot of things. Specially if they wink at him or subtly flirt. However, Kohaku will get serious if needed, so be careful with pushing his buttons too much ! Out of the entire group, he’s definitely the teacher who gives the most homework, kind of expecting the ronin to be able to do everything by tomorrow morning. And you can expect a bigger load of books to read if the ronin manages to anger him ! Okay but for real, Kohaku is pretty dense, so the ronin would need to talk to him about being less intense go easy on them.

Chances are that Kohaku will end up teaching the ronin through sparring - aka by making them read books outloud and (softly) beating the shit out of them if they mess up too many times. It usually ends with the two of them getting way into it, fighting and wrestling lol - but hey, it s o m e h o w works ! When the ronin gets the hang of it, Kohaku will be proud of them, but also feel a bit sad that they won’t need his help anymore. So he might, y’know, offer to teach them how to write. 

Momoko : 

Momoko is surprised upon hearing the ronin’s request. Even though she’s suspicious and super curious about their motives (considering they could’ve asked Masa or Tosh instead), she won’t turn them down. It’s unusual to see someone eager to learn. In fact, she’d be pretty happy to finally be of use, instead of existing just to be eye-candy.  It’s also a good opportunity to make amends with the ronin for her past actions or just get to know them better.

She wouldn’t have a schedule for the ronin, instead they can just visit her whenever they feel like continuing the lessons. Chances are she’ll talk about their progress with Masa and have the shugenja keep an eye on them when she’s not around - mostly so they don’t slack off that much. Momoko is an overall decent teacher thanks to her patience, she’ll try to remember the way her own sensei taught her medicine to know how to properly behave and teach. Most of the things the ronin would read are medical texts or mystery novels that she enjoys reading, since she doesn’t have time to write lengthy things like Basho.

Sometimes, the ronin will show up while she’s busy treating patients or doing Doctor Things(tm) so she’ll keep them around and make them practice reading by fetching different bottles of labeled medicine and such. Because of their visits, they would start to get adquainted with Momoko’s patients (most of them Apart from reading, the ronin will def pick up some knowledge about treating wounds properly, common diseases, etc etc. Even certain plants or flowers used in medicine !  

Once the ronin starts to get the hang of reading, Momoko will have them read outloud - kinda like that Beauty and the Beast scene, yknow ? And once they can read without stuttering or needing her help, the two will just read in silence until the ronin finds a word they don’t understand or know. Well, Momoko p r e t e n d s to read, but in reality she’s admiring them, super proud of their progress !

I don't if this counts with the rules, but in book 2, we learn that Momoko has never been romantically with a women before, so how do you think she would go about coming out to the rest of the gang (Toshio, Hatch, Masashi) when she realizes that she's attracted to females too? (and if you'd like, how do you think the gang would react to this?)

Oh yeah it counts, donut worry ! 

Even though Momoko hasn’t been with a woman before, she’s not shy or nervous about telling the rest about it - same gender relationships aren’t rare in Hyuga ! The only thing is that she’ll probably be a bit anxious about is ACTUALLY pursuing a relationship with another woman. After all, she has no experience. Her only concern is to know if she’s ready to learn and do her best to make this work ! 

Momoko knows how to manipulate men, she’s been surrounded by men who thirst and treat her like an object her whole life - but when it comes to women she’s pretty vulnerable and more ? soft ? ? Like if a guy opens the door for her, she’ll give a polite smile and move on but if a girl does the same, she’ll have to stop for a hot second to think what to say because she’s so so so flustered.

Of course, she’s a classy lady too so Momoko would come out subtly and smoothly. She’ll ask the gang how would they try to romance a girl they’d like to date and once they’re done answering and ask why she wants to know such a thing, Momoko will just take a sip of tea, claiming that she’s “just been thinking a lot about women lately”. 

Toshio immediately picks up on the hints and clues, so he’ll just nod in understanding and wish her luck. Even though there’s no laws that forbid same gender couples, he knows that pursuing any kind of love in Hyuga is hard - and knowing her past, it’s gonna be one difficult task. There’s a chance that Toshio will try to investigate more and see if Momoko has a crush on a specific lady - mostly for Momoko and the group’s safety. Run a background check and so on. 

Masashi is too much of a hopeless romantic so he’s immediately thinking far-fetched theories - it takes a while to realize that Momoko might just be a lesbian, wheeze. But once he does, he’s back spitting out even more romantic stories, like Momoko being in love with a noble lady with a father that refuses to let them date because of Momoko’s status and so on. Nonetheless, Masashi also supports her ! If Momoko ever needs someone to talk or rant about matters of the heart, Masashi is definitely her first choice.

On the other hand, Hatch barely acknowledges love between men, so imagine love between women ! But don’t think ill of him, he’s not ignorant or intolerant at all -  he’s is just . . . that dense.  If you’re not straightforward with him, he won’t understand and that’s it - Momoko will probably have to speak with him in private and be honest about her feelings, even if that implies rejecting him in the process. Hatch is pretty sad about it, but he’s not the type to hold grudges so he’ll understand and do his best to move on ! He might even offer to teach Momoko some of his best pick up lines and techniques to flirt lol

Could I get some modern!Jun HCs, please and thank you?

Basically he’s the embodiment of that “Bad Boy Everyone Wants To Fix" cliché. He comes from a rich and pretty influential but shitty family - so he does everything in his hand to rebel against them and pretend he doesn’t know them. Or you know, just try to get disowned and kicked out. 

Wears leather jackets with absolutely nothing underneath and also probably has a motorcycle. Jun’s bad boy aura and aesthetics are strong af but he has obscure interests that no one expected him to have like gardening or feeding every single stray dog in the entire city. Oh yeah and katanas and swords.

Speaking of stray dogs, Jun denies that he’s the one that has been taking care of them for years - he’ll even deny giving them names but the fucker can easily recognize each and every one of them on the streets. No matter how hard he tries to teach them to leave him alone while in public, there’s always a couple of puppers following him around.

Has been stuck in an on and off relationship for 5 years that he’s unable to let go (but it’s not like he wants to let go either). Jun most likely stalks their social media all the time. Also I bet he’s the type to post weird posessive shit in the comments to “let everyone know they’re taken”. Definitely the type of guy every friend would advise you to break up with.

A city guy but hates the city and how crowded it is - which is why he spends most of the time chilling in parks or at the countryside. Or just on the road with his bike. Def skips class all the time and enjoys knowing that his family is wasting so much money to keep him in college. But the only time you’ll see Jun around it’s when he chills behind a 7/11 like a fucking cryptid, surrounded by dogs. 

Does a lot of odd jobs here and there because he refuses to accept his family’s money. He’s actually pretty reliable and independent !

Best to worst of the yakuza crew (Nishi, Daisuke, Keiko, Shiroyama) at dabbing and shitposting?

Best to worst at dabbing :

Shiroyama (Flexible snake lady, can make pretty sick dabs)

Nishi (Sharp clean dabs that will probably end up hurting someone)

Keiko (Probably only dabs when she sneezes)

Daisuke (Doesn’t even understand dabs)

Best to worst at shitposting :

Keiko (Either a god at shitposting or unconsciously says the most fucking weird ass shitpot material at random times, there’s no inbetween)

Nishi (Only good at shitposting if it means she gets to callout, roast or lash out at someone)

Daisuke (Doesn’t even know what shitposting is, but he’s definitely better than the example below)

Shiroyama (Tries to shitpost but only says shit like “how do you do fellow kids” and misuse memes or phrases)

When the Ronin approaches Basho with their proposal, begging him to not make a big deal out of this, you can BET Basho WILL make a BIG deal out of it. He’ll freeze for a hot second and then tear up, maybe try to hug the Ronin too and give a speech about how grateful he is for this chance. To know that they chose him out of everyone else would make him feel extremely honored - after all, he knows that the Ronin has both Tosh and Masa, people also qualified to teach them anything the Ronin might want to know. And Basho respects those two, so he’d be on cloud nine for a while.

But unlike Tosh and Masa who have way too strict schedules or high expectations, Basho actually vibes with the Ronin and adapts to their way of learning things. Can’t learn to read without learning to write, so he’ll try to teach them basic things too while he’s at it - starting with things they’ll find familiar, like places in Genfu, names of people they know, numbers, animals. . .  Maybe also samurai lingo since that seems to be a favorite topic for them. And then easy poems or haikus that he’ll invent just for them to read and practice. 

Also not gonna lie, Basho probably makes the Ronin read something dumb outloud at first when they start to get the hang of it - like “the person reading this is a dummy” or “I have the best teacher in the world”.  If the Ronin wishes to continue learning how to write, then this little joke will carry on and Basho will read equally dumb things when he revises their writings, like “the poet reading this is a fucking nerd” or something like that. (Also this is def just wishful thinking and gay yearning but I can def see them bond and getting closer and NGHHHH)

This goes without saying, but these lessons will most likely end up being private and secret - the Ronin doesn’t want Tosh or Masa to get offended or feel bad for not being choosen as their teacher. And also they don’t want Jun or anyone else to poke fun at them for wanting to learn. Or y’know. Try to kill Basho. The more time the spend though, the shorter their lessons get. The two would spend time just talking about things and chilling. The Ronin would slowly stop being so harsh to Basho after seeing that he genuinely has a passion for literature and teaching others about it.

Domestic life with jun/ko after the whole slay-demons-all-over-hyuga thing?? Also, demanding basho's route is bIg moOd--

Jun/ko’s only goal is to return to the dojo with the Ronin and live the rest of their lives there, their own happy ever after. They wouldn’t show much concern for the political war going down between the Uesugi and the Takeda either, after all, their only family is the Ronin and Gensai. 

They’d want to make up for all the years they spent away from the Ronin or y’know, trying to kill them - but they’re way less i n t e n s e now, so that’s good ! Because they know how important Masa, Tosh, Hatch and etc are to the Ronin, Jun/ko would try to tone down the jealousy and respect their friendship. If the Ronin insists enough, Jun/ko might even apologize to their friends for their previous behaviour (and for literally every interaction before Book 4).

If the Ronin wishes to continue travelling as . . . well, y’know, vagabonds and r o n i n, you can bet that Jun/ko will follow them. They’d probably become a well-known and dangerous couple all across Hyuga, helping people and stuff lolol. But if they decide to stay at the dojo, then it would be like those lonely winters the two spent together as kids. Only with less pressure on becoming an heir and more love and free time to chill and laze around. 

Jun/ko definitely wants kids, adopted or not, it doesn’t matter. The Ronin would have to deal with Jun/ko ranting about how they want the perfect kid(s), strong and disciplined so they can teach them all about the way of the sword - but it doesn’t matter who the two end up choosing, Jun/ko is definitely the one who dotes on them the most.

If the Ronin doesn’t want kids - well, I hope they have patience. Jun/ko would continue on pestering them for a long time, trying to convince them to at least adopt a “a couple of idiots to call their own” through various means. But if the Ronin really really really doesn’t want to, Jun/ko will drop the subject (though deep down they’ll still hope the Ronin changes their mind) 

As children, the two had their own side of the room and never stepped out of the line. But now ? The two are pretty much glued by the hip - which can be both a curse and a blessing. They cook together, take walks together, pick apples together, sleep together. . . And speaking of sleeping, Jun/ko loves to cuddle and by cuddle I mean holding the Ronin with a deadly fucking grip, never letting go until they wake up. And that’s fine in winter because they’re known to be super warm - but summers are absolute H E L L.

Jun/ko often has flashbacks and nightmares about the past - to be specific, about returning to their old lives and habits, something that scares them to death. Whenever this happens, they’ll stay awake all night, holding onto the Ronin’s hand for reassurance. They’ll only wake up the Ronin if the nightmare was specially unpleasant and bury their head on their chest. But this a l s o goes the other way around ! 

Even though the two still argue pretty often, they also talk things out way more than before ! Communication is key, even if it’s super difficult for both of them to express their most complx thoughts and feelings honestly.

So there this snippets of SoH 4 in steam and apparently Ronin and Jun/ko going on a date, what do you think date with other ROs(like Tosh and Momoko(😭)) would be like?

bOY THIS ASK WAS SENT BEFORE BOOK 4 DROPPED WHEEZE IM SO SORRY FOR BEING SO LATE since you only mentioned Toshio and Momoko, i’ll just do some headcanons for them ! Toshio : 

Toshio has THE braincell, so he’ll most likely prepare for the date a few weeks prior, gathering info on what the ronin likes and so on. They won’t even notice the ninja dropping a few subtle questions about their interests here and there. Like he probably has an enture routine planned out with a map and everything.

Sadly, Toshio thinks way too much so he’ll end up trying too hard to make everything perfect that he’ll burn himself out, setting unrealistic expectations and so on - but he really really REALLY wants the date to go well so he can at least get a bit closer to the ronin. (Which is understandable considering what happens at the end of Book 3 wHEEZE)

Chances are that the two end up meeting by accident at whatever city they’re staying at, falling into step with each other and walking aimlessly through the streets in comfortable silence. Maybe make some small talk about how their days went and so on. Then, the ronin would see something that catches their interest (cOUGH ALCOHOL) and drag him along. But even after that, they still wouldn’t let go of his hand -

And you can hear the gears in Toshio’s brain turning, wondering if he’s been tricked into a casual date with the ronin or if this is all just a happy coincidence. (Bonus points if the ronin actually planned the casual date just to give Tosh a break) Regardless of the truth, he still had a lot of fun, not worrying about sticking to strict plans - so he definitely asks the ronin out on an official date !

Momoko : 

Momoko HAS to be the one with the most experience when it comes to dating. Just look at everyone else. They’re complete messes. But Momoko? A TRUE TROOPER. She knows to keep it simple but memorable and enjoyable, so she simply asks the ronin if they want to go on a date with her. Easy. Then the two can talk about their plans and tadah !

She’s okay with whatever the ronin might want to do (within reason of course) but if they don’t know what to choose, Momoko would probably plan a picnic. After all, the fastest way to your crushes’ heart is their stomach ! She might even ask the ronin if they would like to help her prepare the food and have some more quality bonding time together. 

Okay but hear me out, Momoko probably pulls those romantic cliché moves no purpose and trying to play innocent. “Oh, you got some rice on your face” etc - but as the date goes on, she’ll definitely relax more and stop trying to flirt or impress the ronin so much, opting to enjoy their company instead. The ronin will get to hear her actually laugh (Momoko def snort laughs and it’s the cutest thing ever) and rant about the things she likes.

But there’s also a 50% chance that the date gets ruined by everyone else. Like if the two were having a picnic, Hatch and the rest would show up like “OH HEY FREE FOOD, THANKS GUYS” and just make themselves at home. Momoko is too polite to tell them off, so it’s definitely up to the ronin to deal with them lol.

As stated in the rules, all Ronin/MC/Reader Insert questions are going to remain gender neutral ! Also big fuckin agreed, nonnie

Since you didn’t specify if you wanted headcanons or a short scenario, I went with some cute fluffy headcanons ! 

Because of his upbringing and close relationship with his own siblings, Masashi unconsciously latches onto the ronin as a new parental figure in their absence. Meaning that he’ll casually hold onto their sleeves or hand whenever they walk through crowded cities, with the excuse of “not wanting to get lost”. 

But no matter how close they are, Masashi’s somewhat condescending and emotional personality will still shine through and he’ll end up blurting out some pretty mean things to the ronin - but this only happens when they’re face to face and t r u s t me, Masashi always ends up regretting everything he said. He’ll mutter out a half-assed and embarrassed apology to the ronin while he hugs them from behind, so they don’t see him tear up.

H O W E V E R during the ronin’s absence, Masashi is known for praising and defending them to death from anyone who dares criticize them - Toshio and Hatch have also heard him refer to the ronin with honorifics reserved for older siblings and such. Of course, Masashi refuses to admit any of that and will brush them off.

He also insists that they help him brush his hair in the mornings. If they catch him in a good mood, Masashi would also love to teach the ronin how to braid his hair, even if it’s just for fun. His sister used to play with his hair a lot when he was younger and taught him many different styles, so even if those moments with the ronin are somewhat embarrassing, they still bring him comfort. 

Masashi also has nightmares from time to time that wake him up in the middle of the night - whenever this happens, he’ll seek comfort and sneak to sleep next to the ronin. His plan is always to try and leave before they wake up, but he always ends up being cuddled and hugged to death by the ronin. Masashi doesn’t really mind - it’s only when they start snoring that he’ll start squirming and struggling to escape

Aka, that one post about rules and info for the blog.

Welcome to the inn, fellas - you can call me Mod Basho ! And I made this blog because there’s not enough content for this game for me to read at 5 am so bE THE CHANGE I WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD I GUESS. 

So, let’s get this out of the way : this blog is exclusively about Samurai of Hyuga and it’s canon characters !  Bonus points if you make me write for Basho.

There might be content from all books, so tread carefully ! As of December, Book 4 spoilers won’t be tagged anymore since the book has been out for a long time ! 

The Ronin Path

The length of the posts depend on the number of characters and inspiration ! Keep in mind that I won’t be asking asks in order either - I reply to whatever catches my eye at the moment.

III. We do not accept : spicy/NSFW themes and prompts, matchups, some darker themes in specific situations (such as rape or self-harm). 

Angst and gore are okay to some extend, considering the nature of the game - if you have any questions about your prompt being valid or not, don’t be afraid to ask !

IV. For any reader insert  / S/O / MC / Ronin related question, we’ll ALWAYS use gender neutral pronouns so everyone can enjoy our content ! Mostly because there’s way too many “Fem!ReaderX[insert character]” types of fanfics out there and we want everyone to feel included. 

The only exception to this are LGTB+ related prompts. Such as : Hatch reacting to the ronin coming out as a lesbian, Toshio comforting a dysphoric S/O, Masashi with a genderfluid friend, etc !

V. The maximum number of characters allowed per prompt is 5 ! With that said, you’re still free to send a new ask with other characters. We mostly write for the main cast, but minor and secondary characters such as Sadao, Nishiki etc are welcome !

And speaking of characters, please use the proper names since a couple of them have counterparts of different genders ! Don’t use Fem!Masashi, Male!Toshie, etc.
