this is just headcanons for the characters themselves

TW self harm, suicide

Madotsuki: the main character (obviously) she speaks in short sentences and has strange responses to anything. she likes to draw but hates her ideas and often throws away her doodles. she struggles with extreme social anxiety as well as paranoia, this was only heightened after she abandoned most of her friend circle due to her worsening mental health among other terrible things she experienced. she struggles with self harm as well as intrusive thoughts. she and poniko were best friends but slowly became distant due to lack of communication. madotsuki regrets never telling poniko her true feelings before jumping.

Poniko: lowkey an artist but never shows anyone her work. shes afraid of the dark and gets slightly anxious about the lights. she comes off as indifferent and unemotional but really she has extreme anxiety surrounding expressing herself. despite this, she often has violent outbursts of distress or anger and becomes uboa. poniko constantly waits for madotsuki to visit her room but gets too worried to speak to her.

Monoko: kind of an airhead but she means well. is probably the kindest npc in the dreamworld despite her terrifying transformation. she is extremely sensitive to bright lights and stays in her cave to avoid the white desert sun.

Monoe: she seems to know more than she let's on but you'll never get her to admit what it is. she constantly questions madotsuki on why she continues to come back. everytime they meet, madotsuki is closer to the end of the dreamworld and the end of her life and she is powerless to stop her. monoe is the only one (besides madotsuki) who is truly aware of why the dreamworld was created but she keeps the truth to herself.
