The Mystery of Felix Graham De Vanily
Whether you love him or hate him, Felix is definitely the most mysterious character in Miraculous Ladybug. What I find funny about his appearance in Strike Back is now, I have more questions about him than answers, and his story becomes more and more difficult to understand. He plays a huge role in the sentimonster theory and the Agreste Family mystery. I am going to make it my mission to break down Felix's character and theorize why he wanted the Peacock Miraculous and why he took Emilie Agreste's ring in the first place.
When the episode Gabriel Agreste premiered in November, the fandom (including myself) were pretty sure that Felix was a senti AND that his amok was in Emilies ring. However, during Strike Back, Felix gives the ring BACK to Gabriel in exchange for the Peacock Miraculous, stating that he no longer "needed" it. I was confused at first, why would he give his amok up? The answer is simple, he didn't. Both Winny and Anita give strong implications that Felix's amok might be in another ring, the one that he has worn since his debut.
So, If the Amok is This Ring, then How Was He Created?
This theory might be far fetched, but this is how I believe Felix was able to get his amok as well as his knowledge of his existence, and it has to do with Felix's father. I think Felix's father created Felix with the ring I just mentioned, and used it to "control" Felix. Felix was made shortly after Adrien, just months of each other. I am inclined to believe that Felix was made after Adrien because Felix's father dies shortly after Emilie does, so if they both only used the Peacock Miraculous once, than the rate of decline would roughly be the same, meaning Felix was born after Adrien was. This also begs the question on how Felix’s father (and or Amelie) got ahold of the Peacock Miraculous to create Felix in the first place (this is another question for another time)!
Continuing with our story, we now skip the Felix’s father’s death, which was the same fate the Emilie succumbed to. When Felix's father was on his death bed, he reveals to Felix of his existence (probably to protect him) and gives him his amok. We know from Amelie that Felix starts acting differently after his father passed, so the chance that Felix getting his amok from his father shortly before his passing is a possibility.
Isn't interesting how little we know about Felix's father? We know he died shortly after Emilie did and that Felix's behavior changed drastically after his passing. Yet, his father seems to play a huge role in the sentimonster theory. Also, just wanted to point out that Felix uses his mothers last name; Graham De Vanily. We don't know the last name of Felix's father, which is fascinating. This is what I mean by Felix is mysterious, we know close to nothing about his past. Furthermore, his father has a huge role in the story despite his brief mention of death and his presumed creation of Felix, and I am pretty sure we are going to get these answers in Season 5.
If That is True, Then Why Did He Steal Emilie's Ring?
This is the road bump I had in my theory. If Felix's amok is in the ring that his father gave him, then why would we want Emilie's Ring? Why was he always fascinated by the story of the Graham De Vanily Twin Rings? Felix could have stolen the ring for one of two reasons.
1) It has something to do with Adrien. Because Felix is assumed to be pro senti (meaning he wants sentimonsters to be treated like normal people as such), he could have stolen the ring to protect Adrien. But, Felix does have some hostile feelings towards his "cousin", so I am also led to believe that he stole the ring because he is jealous of Adrien and wanted that upper hand over his family. Think about it, Adrien is a famous model, "Mr. Perfect", at the time Felix and Adrien reunite in the show, Adrien has a group of friends who care about him. Felix has none of those things and is just a boy who lives in the gloomy city of London. This entirely could be an upper hand grab.
2) Stealing the ring might not even have to do with Adrien at all, and Felix's decision to steal the ring might be because the ring is entirely sentimental. It could be a power move for Felix to get the upper hand on his uncle. Remember Felix says this
"If I wanted to hurt you uncle, I would have done so a long time ago"
Maybe Felix wanted to hurt his uncle by destroying the ring? That could be a possibility
There also could be some magical quality to the ring that we might not even know about that Felix does know. Either way, the ring has some sort of significance to Felix and Gabriel and we know that either Adrien's amok is contained in BOTH rings OR there is something else with Emilie's ring specifically that is important.
What is Felix Going to Do With the Peacock Miraculous?
Honestly, I think Felix is going to use the miraculous to create one of two people; his father or his aunt.
As I mentioned before, Felix's father died shortly after Emilie did, and I think Felix is determined to bring him back, but as a sentimonster like HE is. They could resume life and be happy together. I also find it the perfect opportunity to learn more about Felix's past and his connection with his father and his mother. It would be interesting to see who Felix's father actually is.
Or Felix might recreate Emilie. Felix saw the fate of Emilie Agreste in the Agreste Mansion basement, and I am also led to believe that he might recreate Emilie as a sense of relief, knowing that she is "alive" and "well" (even though she clearly is not). I do hope Emilie appears at some point in the show and has a speaking role. There is so much mystery around her character that I could make another post like this alone.
Whatever the intention is, I think Felix is going to create ONE senti and is going to stick with that senti for the entirety of Season 5. It won't be a situation like Nathalie or Gabriel where they are constantly creating sentimonsters and destroying them. Felix will create one sentimonster and keep a close eye on it, and maybe will give it it's freedom. We will have to wait and see.
To be honest, I want to dive deeper into Felix because he is such a fascinating character to look at. The mystery, the lore, his standing, it is all blurred together into something that is hard to predict. I made some predictions here, but I am pretty sure they are going to change as we get more spoilers and information about Season 5. I sure hope we get some episodes centered around Felix this season, because the mark he made in Season 4 is too big to ignore in Season 5.
