I want to see more of Jay-den and Sam hanging out. They're clearly friends! Based on context clues Jay-den is closer to Sam than he is to most of the group. But so much happens off screen and you just have to pick up on ~the vibe~ of one or two lines.

I'm so worried I'm gonna get shit for my Jay-den x Kyle x OC fanfic for not having Jay-den x Kyle x Darem. Especially because I, personally, would LOVE to see them as a happy poly throuple.

And I always start typing out this long explanation for why the fic I'm working on doesn't have Darem. Like I'm apologizing so nobody hits me.

Even now I want to explain the logistics of why I'm not including Darem and I have to remind myself I dont have to apologize for making this future AU in a way that is manageable for me. But also what if people hate me. But also -

Ugh. It makes me not want to write fanfic at all.

I've never written for an on-going plot before, much less one with an active fan base.

For all the bullshit leveled at Jay-Den I find it interesting that there are some people saying "a Klingon who cares about medicine?? No way!"

Many Klingons aim to die in glorious battle, but they're not suicidal. Do you think Klingons magically didn't need healers? They needed trusted healers who could heal ailments and sooth old wounds.

Like how else were you going to keep going and reach Stovakor? How many would have died uselessly from gagh poisoning without a healer present?

In my mind, Jay-Den's family didn't hate that he wanted to be a healer, but cowardly Starfleet? A Hippocratic oath to do no harm?

In my mind, a traditional Klingon healer would heal with one hand and strike enemies down with their bat'leth with the other. As Jay-Den was the remaining son to survive and inherit their house, how can he do that by only healing? How will he enter Stovakor by letting everyone else fight?

Once I said to someone if I was in Star Trek, I'd probably be a Klingon. And they were so surprised because I seemingly don't have the traits of a typical Klingon.

But I said to them, hey I would be the poet. I would stand after the battle and sing the song of the fight. Who died with glory, who will be gliding to Stovakor with ease. Praising Kahless for those who survived to see another glorious day of battle.

If you think Klingons are wholly one-dimensional violent monsters who just stumbled on science and warp after everything we've seen in alpha canon...well phew... that's just sad.

This is a oneshot anthology, tied directly to my fic Coming Around Again!
