I realize that there should only be one Zelda 'half heart' but I liked them so much I bought a couple. Other than that, this is the current state of my Storm keyboard. My blackwidow I will finish adding the caps today.

Saints Row the Third. Some of my Joker playthrough. Sorry, no purple suit yet!
FTL: Faster Than Light - Roguelike at it's best.
Not enough can be said about the Roguelike FTL.
I've invested over 100 hours in the game and I never even got to play the Beta. I'm not sure if it's an addiction or due to the fact that even after 100 hours of gameplay, I'm still finding new ships and missions that I've never seen before. It's actually one of the few games I feel compelled to grab all the achievements for.
Now I know what you're thinking. 100 hours in and STILL not all the ships are unlocked??? Perhaps I just have bad luck, or similar luck is all. Who knows, but regardless, I'm still enjoying myself. Whether it's on Normal (which btw, is really freaking hard) or Easy mode, the game ALWAYS presents a challenge. And that's wherein lies my addiction.
It's sad how much I like to watch them burn.
So yeah, I've used a lot of time up, but I can say this, FTL is one of my favorite games of late 2012 and early 2013. It can be played anywhere due to the lack of strain in the graphics card department and it's still entertaining. It's an indie game and one of the first by this particular developer.
FTL <---------The devs website and where you can purchase the game directly if you do not wish to do so through Steam.
And the game itself isn't that expensive. I mean, it's ALWAYS going on sale for $5.00 or you can purchase it now for $10. Now if you have enough Scrap Recovery Arms, you may be able to get the game cheaper. In-game joke.. .Sorry, I've been on a long hiatus.. I'm cheesy, I know. Either way I feel the challenge and the game is worth it.
Now I don't want to spoil much of the game for you. But basics.... you are going to the aid of others and this game eventually shows what type of captain you would be in the most dire of situations. Want to be Malcolm Reynolds? Done, name your ship and crew and Boom! You're him. Oh did I mention there are Mods? No? I will later. Anyways, this game shows that is has a lot of potential for Roleplaying.
For example:
Me.... I'm probably a great captain but terribly evil when in dire situations. I have no problem venting an entire area of oxygen and losing one crew member to save 4 or 5 due to massive fire breach. It's just how I think.
Also, I constantly upgrade doors to level 3 and when boarded I suffocate the enemy in my own ship. I'm pretty sick like that. When fighting enemy ships, I like to set them on fire and watch them burn and suffocate. I'm not sure what this says about me as a person... Scary, right?
Boarding parties? Yeah, I do that crap too. I hire two Mantis crew and BEEFCAKE those boys up so when I teleport them in someone, they beat the shit out of everyone and leave nearly unscathed.
I mean, these are just a few of the things you can do to give you an idea of the trials you will face in this game. I mean, shit, I've shot missiles at ships and hit their drones attacking me by accident... That kind of attention to detail in a game is REALLY impressive and nice to have for once.
This is only small things I've listed too. You can unlock new ships, have numerous missions and distress calls in game to accomplish and can even MOD, yes, they've started MODDING this game.
Okay, I mentioned Captain Reynolds. Well, you can Mod in the Firefly model ship... don't like that one enough to do it? Fine, how about the SS Enterprise? Or the Star Destroyer from Star Wars. THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING!
Boba Fett ship incoming? Anyone? Most definitely, I'm sure.
So if you have time at work to burn. Or you want to play while on the plane on your laptop or something, then please, pick up this game.
You'll be frustrated, angry, rewarded, excited, all those emotions and more bundled up when you play through FTL several 100 times.
Like I said, I have over 100 hours in the game and I'm not tired of it yet. Don't let me spoil the game by telling you what it's all about and how pretty it may be, or how long it is... Just have a go at it and decide for yourself. And when you find yourself engulfed in FTL's atmosphere, then you can thank me. Until then....I actually have some time to spare..
I think i'm going to give it another go now. Cheers!
Not sure where to start. O.o
Oh hai! Well, I know it's been a while, but I finally beat Sleeping Dogs a couple weeks ago and although I've been very busy with 'Grown Up' issues, I wanted to drop a photo-journal of my playthrough of the game.
Now the first few pics are when I set my graphics to ultra... apparently the game would bug out and my characters would all start falling into a black abyss. Funny as hell, but got old quick as I was ready to play for reals.
As far as recommendations on the game. I say...
BUY IT NOW. It seriously put every GTA I've ever played to shame. The game is violent, fun, gory, just amazing overall. The voice acting is splendid and the visuals are what you would think that city and culture would be like if you were physically there. Sure there's some clunky aspects (repeating NPCs sometimes, my graphics Ultra issue, and other small things... ) But whenever I witness an entire accident unfold and an ambulance come and assess and declare the victim dead etc.. (all in THIS game), well color me impressed. I also took some pics of that as well. About half way through the journal.
Sleeping Dogs was definitely worth the $60 I paid for it... so now that it's cheaper for everyone to buy, I don't see why waiting is in the equation.
BTW, the story... is freaking great too. Many twists and turns and I was actually sad at several parts. You'll find out which ones.
Let me know if you play it and if or (how) much you enjoyed it!
GW2: The Fire Elemental of Thaumanova Reactor Fallout
Okay.... Now, I didn't play a lot of WOW. I got one character up to 82 and then I opted out of the game. Sorry, I had received my fill of MMOs back in the Ultima Online days. I like MMOs, I do... I was just burned out I guess. Four years day and night in high school will do that to anyone I suppose.
But something about Guild Wars 2 caused me to take a step back and try and start over. It's unique, beautiful, and although still full of glitches with certain classes, a lot of fun.
I didn't realize how challenging the game was until I stumbled upon the Boss in the Thaumanova Reactor. Big mistake to go there alone.
Under my Asura character I first tried the Fire Elemental of (Thaumanova Reactor Fallout). HUGE mistake. There was about 5 of us and we were ballsy... needless to say, we accomplished nothing. We died, left, leveled elsewhere, the end.
Now I came back recently with a higher level character (lvl 40) and we tried it again. I'm running a Sylvari Engineer and TBH, turrets do shit to this particular boss. So don't bother. They just attract Embers and you get pooled with lava and die.
So, here's what I suggest... If you go as a guild or you're on a small server (like we WERE), then you're gonna need 6-10 people.
We did it with 7 people... It was a pain in the ass.
Basically, kill the Embers as soon as you see one. You don't do that, lava hits you if you don't roll out, and you're dead. BTW, the Embers are assholes, when you're close to reviving, they'll through another lava pool at you and one shot you.
U mad?
Now you manage to keep the Ember forces down and you dodge the flaming tornadoes and such, you should succeed fairly easily... BUT, once you get caught in that trap of resurrecting your dying or dead friends, prepare your butt-hole for a pounding, because the boss knows what you're doing and it's not gonna happen easily.
Now the GW2 Wikia lists several different tactics:
Avoid the AoE attacks at all costs. Players will typically die after getting knocked down if they don't have Stability or skills to break stun. They will continue to take damage from the Lava Font that follows while knocked down, leading to death.
The Meteor attacks will have a telltale AoE circle 1-2 seconds before they land and can be evaded. This can be a problem if there is lag, where the attacks can seem to land instantly.
Embers are very dangerous because they can quickly overwhelm players with numbers and constantly summon Lava Fonts. They will also shoot a volley of fireballs at players.
Avoid waiting near the bridge. Players will typically stall at the bridge to avoid getting hit and to revive other players that were downed. This leads to a narrow choke point as players constantly try to avoid AoE attacks, fight back Embers, and revive downed players.
A common tactic for new players is to kamikaze the boss until it dies. This is a less viable option for higher level players as repairing armor can be expensive.
Reviving players puts yourself in a dangerous position, if you do so, be ready to dodge incoming meteors and Lava Fonts so you don't get downed yourself in the attempt.
The Kamikaze plan, seemed to be the most effective... now if you're high level I don't recommend it. It costs too much for armor repairs, revival relocation and although you get good loot at the end from the boss, it still costs a shitload to beat this guy.
The basic mindset I suggest you go into the battle with is one of dying. It's going to happen unless your group has their shit together.. even then, it's going to happen. So just be ready to pay armor repair fees and screw waiting to be revived, it only hurts your other party members.
So far, this has been the most challenging and fun boss we've encountered yet. And although we haven't done them all, I'm really enjoying GW2's challenges.
If you're level 15-20ish, get a group together and try this boss out. It's hard, it's annoying, but there's a great satisfaction upon defeating him.
Good luck!
Super excited about this game. Think Contra style side scrolling, robot romping, kick ass fun! With great graphics to match. So gogogo! It's on sale too!
The Walking Dead: Episode Three - Long Road Ahead
Well I finally have been able to actually sit down and play the third episode of the Walking Dead game. Thanks, Hurricane Isaac. Annoying little shit.
Anyways.
Unlike the second episode, I was very pleased with this one. Don't get me wrong, while the second episode WAS entertaining, I felt like it was something we've all already seen before, while Episode Three was packed with more surprises (genuine ones) and a lot of entertaining moments as well.
I have really grown to like my version of Lee a lot (despite some of the hard decisions I've had to make) and who doesn't think Clem is a peach?
I mean, it's lines like this that I enjoy. The humor and the seriousness of their relationship.
Spoilers below
Been playing a lot of Sleeping Dogs and thought before I give a review I wanna finish it. So here's some snapshots :D
Have you seen this? Heard about this? I'm sure you have... Meh, anyways, TF2's Mann Vs. Machine (MvM) came out quite recently and I have to say, it's a blast!
I've always enjoyed TF2 and although (lately) it seems to be more about the flair of the game than the aspect of the FPS, it still has its moments.
Luckily MvM was released.
The basic premise is that you and 5 others fight against hordes of robots to defend the Mann company. It's kind of neat too, you see new maps and all the weapons and stores have Mann written on them. (Like those awesome details I give you? rofl) The devs actually put a little time into this and made it a whole new TF2 experience.
To play: You are given money to spend at the first round (and each NEW round) for upgrades for whatever class you have chosen. It is wise to stick with this class throughout the game because as you upgrade, you'll be able to add more upgrades as you collect money or at the beginning of the new rounds. You get money divided amongst the group for kills, so don't feel obligated to grab all the money like most people do. It's split evenly.
IF you change classes in the middle of the bout, then you'll lose ALL upgrades and have to start over. This happens even if you switch weapons!!!! I learned this the hard way, several times.
The classes I have found the most useful in these games are:
Pyro: Spray and pray, tons of kills.
Soldier: You need that huge damage buffer
Demo: Crits away! I would have to have 2 in my group.
Heavy: The heavy can take the damage and dish it out. They're a good front line.
Engineer: The engineer is good at the beginning, but once his turret gets busted, he's pretty much all shotgun, unless you can get another sentry tower up and FAST.
The Classes I'm not so sure about:
Scout: He seems WAY too squishy to me. And when you're up against Giant Demos and such, he's just pissing in the wind with his small damage.
Sniper: I've yet to see a sniper that's made a difference in MvM... They have no real longevity and their shooting has no real speed. They seem kind of useless to me.
Medic: I played the medic a bit and he DID help a lot... but in the end, I feel, more damage and less healing seems to be the way to go. I could be wrong, sometimes the uber and extra crits make a hell of a difference... but, the medic can't do much when he's the last one standing.
Spy: I just, yeah, I dunno... seems... useless.
Overall, this is very team based. So you have to work together. Shooting the tanks from behind do more damage, or like my friend discovered, you can stand in front of the tank and let it push you while you melee it the whole time.
The medics that heal the Giant Heavy are the first things you should kill. Take them out as a team, then gank the giant Heavy.
The 25 health per kill stacks 4 times if you buy it that many. That's 100 health per kill that you regain and it's a life saver and recommended.
Damage is also another good buff to purchase.
In all though, you will want to test your own methods and see which upgrades and builds you enjoy the most. It's more fun to experiment and enjoy the 'newness' of the game than to just read about it. So, hurry, go go, DL TF2 if you haven't yet (it IS F2P) and try MvM out.
Also... if you are planning on playing any time before 9 P.M. Eastern Time, it's going to be a bitch to get on a server. We waited for around 30 minutes... but as soon as 11 P.M. rolled around, severs were no longer an issue to find.
So enjoy it, and post some pics of your awesome moments! These are only a few I took.
Why does Slenderman have everyone so scared?
Let's face it... people love to be thrilled. For some, it's the only thing that gets them through the day, for others, it's just that feeling of your heart racing and having no idea of what's to come.
Slenderman encompasses these feelings and more.
The game breakdown according to the website is: "Slender is a first person horror game where your only goal is to find 8 manuscripts about the Slender Man, a paranormal creature. The more directly you come in contact with the Slender Man, the faster your sanity drains."
So in a sense, you have a sanity meter like Amnesia... but, the game isn't NEARLY as long as Amnesia. Now keep in mind... since it's not as long as Amnesia... it really doesn't pack the same amount of scares, but it doesn't disappoint either. You're always kept on edge due to your environment and the eerie music.
Graphics wise, it's Source based, but overall nothing to brag about. It actually reminds me of Left 4 Dead 2 graphics a lot. Still, it's a new horror game and one that keeps you guessing and searching. Trust me... nothing is creepier than walking around with a flashlight, no way to defend yourself, searching for scraps of paper. By the way, the more paper you find, the crazier things get.
Think along the lines of Dear Esther without the narration. Insert some scary shit and a few point and click moments and you have your memorable horror game.
Did I mention it's free???
Should you have the courage to play, check out the game here: Slenderman
If you're still not sure about it, here's a nice video showing some playthrough and description.
Slender Trailer
Overall, if you enjoy horror and you have about an hour to waste, play Slenderman. It's simple and pretty fun due to the unpredictable events. Best of all... it's FREE. I did mention that, right?
Playthrough, day 2. Dead Island and the weird glitches and random shit.
Here are some more Skyrim screenshots from my gaming experiences. I decided to put up the pretty and pretty nasty things I've encounter in the lower levels of my play. Notice the shoddy armors and weapons I carry.
Been playing a LOT of Dead Island again. Decided to post some of the dumb shit that happens in game. :D Makes me laugh so hard how buggy and silly it can be sometimes. But the game is a lot of fun.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Having never played a Deus Ex before I wasn't sure what to expect, but my girlfriend swore by it and eventually she bought it for me and forced me to play it. Horrible huh!? I'm kind of glad she did, though. :D
Now before I delve too deep into the game and such I have to say that there are several ways of playing Deus Ex: HR. You can sneak around and pretty much kill no one, just knock everyone out that you meet, or you can be that Deadpool guy and kill everything that moves (minus the civilians, although you CAN do that too).
I pretty much killed everyone but the civilians. But, sometimes they got in the way of my bullets. Like in the clubs for example. Oops. :/
Okay I admit it, I actually got so cold-blooded at certain points in the game, that if I didn't perform a kill move on a enemy and accidentally knocked them out instead... I would go back to shoot them in the head once to make sure they were dead. Yeah, my Adam Jensen was a dick. He didn't take any shit and he dished nothing but chaos out. After all, he never asked for any of this.
Now, yes, the game brings up the idea of lost humanity due to too many modifications and such, but you know what, I figure if Jensen is getting DULL metal planks shoved into his augmented arms, (whether he asked for them or not) why is morality even an issue? I mean, FFS, he's stabbing you with a dull item to ensure it does the maximum amount of pain before death (that's like stabbing yourself with an un-sharpened pencil versus a sharpened one, which I don't recommend, btw)... I don't think he gives a shit anymore regardless of his humanity or not. That is, if you played him like I did.
Now, morality aside, I have to say that I'm glad that this game was made as a prequel. I really enjoyed the storyline and the setting. Overall, there was no sense of dread to finish the game since it had such a great opening. I felt that the plot was interesting and in some ways reminded me of GTA games without the driving BS.
The graphics were nice (not overly amazing, but still well done) and although the yellow tint did get kind of old on the eyes, I didn't mind it that much. I mean, hell, I've played the Fallout games and they have their own tint... so this isn't much of a stretch.
Most of all, I think the aesthetics of the game is what drew me in completely. The finishing moves, the sneaking, the fighting with weapons (the weapons in general), I just never seemed to tire of the fighting and often looked for one.
Money never seemed like an issue and although I did run out of ammo sometimes I always had the funds to restock on whatever I needed... if I could find a vendor.
You gotta wonder if those holes in his chest ever get infected. Blegh.
The cut scenes were very cool and I enjoyed them a lot. There was a nice balance of them and they gave good ground on where you stood in the game and explaining where you were soon going.
Now, this is not an open world game. Probably a 'duh' statement there, but it's a very easy to navigate through everywhere once you've run through the cities once or twice.
The console is fairly simple to use. If you're a gamer, you won't have any issues moving items around, using them, etc... The inventory box reminded me a lot of Resident Evil 4 & 5.
Oh Malik, you are my fav!
Probably the best thing about Deus Ex: HR though is the augments section. It is here that as you level up, you can improve Adam with different augments to his person... NOW, having said that, it seems like the game FORCES you to get the hacking skill... I had shitty hacking and at the end of the game I paid for it in the worst way by taking F-O-R-E-V-E-R to beat the final boss.
But the augments DO come in handy, whichever ones you choose. And depending on your actual playstyle, whether you're the killer or the gentile ninja, that's where you'll be putting your level points. There's no real grinding of levels btw, just do the quests and you can pretty much max whatever you want.
There are only two other things worth mentioning about DE:HR... The DLC... is horrid, don't bother. Herpdy derp... If you're a completionist, then go for it, otherwise, I suggest skipping it.
And lastly, the bosses. TONS of people bitched about the bosses being too easy to defeat. That may be so through most of the game, but I really didn't mind it all that much. Like with most games, if you're well prepared for the boss, then he/she will be easy to handle. After all, this isn't FFVII....
Everyone knows by now, but hell, I figured I should go ahead and make a post about it anyways.
Some items you should be on the lookout for today:
Legend of Grimrock
Terraria
Portal 2
Shogun 2
Try and be patient with some of the other items that are more expensive atm, chances are, they'll go down between now and the 22nd. Happy buying and gaming!
