the problem with starting hello from the magic tavern this year and trying to listen sequentially is that Zach Reino and Jess McKenna’s characters (the great blue tigers) are absolutely iconic but I can only picture them as the big cat from kpop demon hunters

As in someone who is specifically trained in it and does it every day.
Someone who is not specifically trained in pleasing cosmetic results and not actively practicing pleasing cosmetic results is how you get horrifying cosmetic results
I cannot tell you how many episodes of Botched I've seen where someone with a mangled nose job says some shit like "My dentist did 2 for 1 rhinoplasty...."
I have had a rant brewing for awhile now and this seems like as good a place as any for it:
The "plastic" in "plastic surgeon" did not get here to mean "cheap and fake."
Plastic, the word, predates plastic, the material. The material was named for its noteworthy quality.
"Plastic" means "shapeable." Workable, moldable, malleable, et cetera.
When the first reconstructive surgeries were being pioneered in the 19th century, working absolute miracles like restoring whole faces to girls and women who'd caught fire tending to their kitchen stoves, among a multitude of other devastating conditions, it was this miraculous reshaping that gave the surgery its name: plastic surgery, the shaping surgery.
Time passes, and plastic, the material, is developed, and goes from fantastic modern wonder material to byword for cheap imitation; plastic, the surgery, expands from reconstruction to aesthetic finicking, Barbie is introduced with her unrealistically-proportioned plastic body, and the phrase "plastic surgery" goes from indicating "the reshaping surgery (what a marvelous thing)" to "the fake face/fake tits/fake nose surgery (how vulgar and deceitful)."
I also didn't know this was a common genre of video that existed, but yeah, literally every language has words that don't perfectly translate into some other languages, there wasn't like a checklist of concepts that every human being was given at the dawn of civilization to make words for in their new language, so things developed naturally and independently of each other based on the context of a culture and the immediate surroundings, not every concept can have a word for it, some need multiple words to explain, but not every language will agree on which ones need multiple words to explain, and which one just needs one
this is a concept that monolingual people in the US seem incapable of grasping

The outside is not significantly different from the previous socks I’ve repaired but the inside is so neat and consistent on this one, I’m quite pleased with it. This is a repair that used 0 knots! and. tens of metres of thread.
This mini story is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while, and I finally found the time and motivation to do so!
The main thing that captured my attention towards Kitty and Illyana, not just as a ship, but as a genuine pair, is their bond as soulmates. I fell in love with their devotion towards one another, regardless of possible romantic implications (especially in the early comics).
I think that whether we agree or disagree on the topic of them being in a relationship, it is clear that their love for each other is genuine, and no matter what life throws at them or how long they stay apart, they will always find a way back to one another.
i love that discord doesn't tell you if someone's read your messages. like genuinely. normalize others not needing every second of your time right away. normalize taking time to formulate a proper answer. normalize this.
