i think that very last line is what a LOT more people need to fully digest. there’s this romance around friendship that it should be perfect and smooth and unproblematic at all times but that isn’t what being a friend is. that isn’t what a normal connection with another human being is. sometimes you NEED to do things that might not end well for you personally, in order to be a friend to your friend. sometimes you’ve got to be willing to face serious consequences to help, to save your friend’s life in the way they need saving at that moment.

Listen I’m sorry but if you actually care about female liberation, about raising female class consciousness, about actually making a difference for real living women right now: you are going to have to learn to empathize with women you disagree with.

It is shocking to me the way radblr will pass around a video of a conservative man praising him for ~owning the transgenders~ and then make post after post about how libfems are not worth talking to because they’re so irredeemably stupid and annoying. I hate to break it to you, but you’ve actually got way more in common with the most annoying tif you can imagine than any man. Other women-even ones who don’t completely align with you on every possible topic-are capable of being insightful, clever and compassionate, and can always grow as people.

Like what’s the plan? What’s your endgame if you refuse to talk to the Unenlightened Women? Female separatism but only for your five ideologically purest radfem mutuals, until one of them discourses about babies on planes? You have to be willing to put the work in to seriously connect with other women if you actually care about feminism.
