The Navajo have a unique tradition. When a baby is born, it is regarded as the ultimate, precious gift and must never be abused. From the moment of birth, the child is watched over continuously by family and friends, who patiently wait for the child’s first…laugh.

“Has your baby laughed?” is common question posed to parents who have infants around the age of three months. The first laugh of a Navajo child is a very significant event. It marks the child’s final passing from the spirit world to the physical world, meaning he or she is now fully human. This milestone warrants a party, and what a party it is!

Whichever brother, sister, parent, cousin, aunt, uncle, or passing acquaintance is present at the first laugh is deemed to have caused it.  The laughter instigator then receives the honored privilege of preparing a special ceremony to welcome the child into society.

Once a baby has laughed, training in generosity begins immediately—a value held in high regard among the Navajo people. At the party, where the baby is considered the host, the parents or person responsible for the first laugh help hold the baby’s hand as he or she ceremonially gives the rock salt, food, and gifts to each guest. There are also bags of candy, money, and other presents that the child “gives” along with the food. [x]

Yes it is true. I have had of a few relatives invite me to a A’wee Chi’deedloh "The Baby Laughed Ceremony" however I have not had the privilege to actually attended one personally. The Dine’ peoples believe that babies are of “two worlds” (Earth people & Holy people) when they are born. The first laugh signifies the babies desire to become a part of the Earth People so it is a great cause for celebration.

Just re-watching Prof Flowers' Vaush video after the thing with Non Compete - Luna oi, Vaush clearly has a problem with people of color and is very eager to shut them up. Oh my stars, this is a very serious problem, beverly hills mindset really shows!

I really can't believe he just said "jews owned a disproportionate amount of banks" or "what is wrong with racism?" to Non Compete who was talking about the racial harassment Vaush's fans directed at his wife, Luna.

Also; all the stuff about cp, dude literally said "it should be legal to be morally consistent because owning products made by child labor is legal" but calls himself a consequentialist, if he really was he would've said "but again, it should still be very illegal even that meant being morally inconsistent because it is a net good after all" It really makes you think he has something to do with owning cp when you look at how much he brings it up, and all the "we all jerked it to at some point..." talk. No we absolutely didn't Vaush, wtf are you talking about??

It is just terrible how women like Lindsay Ellis (and Prof Flowers, Luna oi to some extent) can be harassed and be even forced of the platform for smallest of things but this cp supporter, nazi talking point spouter shouty man can stay. After all, you can't really shame the shameless can you?

Bonus round: remember how he called bad empanada "it feels like he supports the holocaust" with the israel supporting woman in his stream. Remember kids, a black woman saying de-colonization isn't the same thing with ethnical cleansing is very genocidal but another woman supporting settler colonialism isn't. The difference being, the latter one flatters and compliments Vaush.

I'm gonna say it: One of the biggest reasons why terfs like to attack trans people is that they think they are an easy target. When they do it, they know people with high influence/lots of money will support them and they can pat themselves on the back for a "victory" rather than actually organizing for something useful.

Terfs rarely speak on other issues, they only focus on trying to paint trans people as predators. The tactics they use is *really* so very similar to those used for fear-mongering about black people and lesbian people that it is extremely disgusting they are trying the pull the ladder behind them as soon as their position in society gets somewhat accepted.

Just look at the people supporting them. jk rowling makes a transphobic tweet, fucking ben shapiro and richard spencer come out of their trashcans to retweet it! Absolutely disgusting.
