🥀 why i still support vegetarianism (even tho i can’t do it myself)
WARNING: THIS IS GONNA BE A LONG-ASS POST (and different from my typical content)
i’m gonna be real — i think vegetarian and vegan diets are incredible. they take compassion, discipline, and a sense of responsibility that not everyone has. like, it’s not just about eating different foods. it’s about saying hey, i care about the planet and the creatures living on it.
the good parts:
for animals: less suffering, less death. simple as that.
for the planet: meat production destroys forests, eats up water, and pumps out gross amounts of greenhouse gases. eating more plants legit helps slow that down.
for people: some folks thrive on plant-based diets. they feel lighter, cleaner, healthier. their skin clears up, their energy skyrockets. i think that’s awesome.
for your mind: there’s something grounding about knowing your choices line up with your morals. like you’re not just saying you care — you’re living it.
but i also gotta be honest: it doesn’t work for everyone.
i’ve tried to go vegetarian. i wanted to so bad. but i’m chronically ill, my iron and blood sugar are always low, and i already feel like shit most of the time. cutting out meat made it worse — dizzy, weak, shaky, all that. so i had to stop pretending it was something i could “push through.”
it’s not about wanting a burger. it’s about survival.
the point:
you can love animals, you can hate factory farming, you can want better for the world — and still need meat to function. that doesn’t make you heartless. it makes you human.
what does matter is intention. do what you can. buy local when possible. waste less. eat consciously. care, even if your plate doesn’t look like someone else’s.
and if you’re someone who can live healthy without meat? please, PLEASE do it. the world needs more people like you. i mean that. but don’t shame the ones who physically can’t. not everyone’s body runs on the same fuel.
at the end of the day, it’s not about being perfect — it’s about doing the least harm you can while still staying alive.
