they would've drawn and quartered max verstappen if he did what charles did this race. cult lh would have twenty thousand hit tweets calling him the devil. the media would be running back austria 24 aftermath.

whenever I'm discussing f1 with friends and leclerc is the topic of conversation, the focus always shifts to alexandra. most casuals I know (who don't watch f1 at all) will know charles as the guy with the really fashionable and gorgeous wife who they are following on insta.
obviously fashion and influencing is a bigger field than f1 so it's not surprising as much as it's a little funny. my other friends will kinda zone out when the convo is about f1 but if charles is mentioned then they'll sit up a bit and be like 'omg isn't his wife just so pretty??'
(and I definitely don't mean this in a negative way)
I've been avoiding reddit but decided to give it a try and there's this really funny thing where every thread about kimi has 63s in the comments trying to cancel him for having an 'attitude problem' and 'anger management issues' cause he gets heated on the radio.
article: jos n raymond were at mclaren to speak to dries
big twitter accts: jos n raymond were at mclaren!!!!!!!!!!
"hamilton gave mercedes three years!" and then he left anyway. as a fun exercise, let's try to remember how long in advance it was announced he was leaving.
"max wouldn't last a year in ferrari!" and what good has lasting and wasting in ferrari done for anyone in the past 19 years? are we collecting struggling points?
"as soon as he doesn't have a competitive car he wants to leave!" and the current rumour is placing him in a team that's hardly doing any better. but sure, let's pretend this is about nothing but the current competitiveness.
"he couldn't handle being in a team that doesn't revolve around him!" well if you're so sure, there's nothing to worry about, is there?
Gustavo: "What really impresses me about Max is how genuine and transparent he is with us. When he gets out of the car and the guys ask, 'How's the engine?' he says the exact same thing he tells us on Discord as he does in interviews. Of course, he opens up a bit more with us; sometimes he finishes FP1 and tells us, 'Damn, this is really bad.'"
Hector:"Do you have this direct contact after every session?"
Gustavo:"Yes, we do. Right after a race ends, heāll tell us something like, 'The rear wing didn't close again, I lost 50 pts of downforce, and this just isn't working well.' What he says in interviews matches what he tells us. Of course when it comes to contracts or things he doesn't want to disclose, he keeps that privateāwhich makes sense, it's his personal business. But when it comes to racing, he always opens up. He gives us scoops like, 'Oh, that battle was great, I managed to dodge him!' It's amazing for us."
Gustavo: "I remember being at Interlagos in 2024. It was raining during practice, and he actually messaged me asking, 'How's it going out there? Is the outside line very wet?' I said, 'No, it looks like it's drying here.' I was just sitting in the grandstands! He always bounces these ideas off us, he frequently throws the ball to us, especially regarding the setup team, to ask for our opinions on team matters, you know? Not just F1 stuff."
the way some people talk about engineering in f1 genuinely sounds like 'why didn't the engineer just fix the car, is he stupid?š¤Ø'
like pls it's not that easy or fastšš
'this wouldn't have happened under horner' I'm going to assume you weren't here for the past two years... doing all this revisionism to prop up christian horner of all peoplešš

they're engagement farming off of our traumatized fanbase they're all going to hell
red bull engineers don't even bother improving the car anymore they just look at max like

I canāt with this teamā¦. Why bother calling max your best sensor if you never listen to him. They acknowledged there was an issue with the engine but still chose not to change itā¦. Guess weāll see what happens
I donāt like to just blindly defend the team but theyāre making decisions with information we donāt have. I personally donāt like to assume Iām smarter than the people with all the knowledge because at the end of the day itās not likely I have an idea that they havenāt had.
They may think changing the engine leaves them exposed later in the season if they have to take an engine penalty. They may have updated the car significantly by then and then have a 10 place penalty to contend with, throwing away a win because they changed the engine in a race they were never going to win anyway. If come Qatar they have a great car but Max has to start 14th because of an engine change everyone will be saying āwhy did they bother using their allowance when they knew their car was shitā. Iām not saying this is the reason but these must be the discussions theyāre having. They know whatās coming round the bend, the limitations of the track with regard to their apparently inferior recharging, the bad starts. I donāt think itās as simple as ānew engine make quickerā.
I really do not like the way Mekies is managing things I think heās turned out to be a really poor choice for TP. But I donāt think every person in the garage is less competent than us on the outside. Thatās just not possible. So Iām assuming thereās reasoning to this, whether or not team Verstappen agrees with it, or has chosen to share it via Erik is a different story.
my hot take is that i don't think lestappen are flopping together because max isn't flopping

I think max just hates fun of any kind
I donāt think he hates the things he considers fun
As a person who doesnāt enjoy whimsy of any kind I come up against this allegation a lot so I will be defending my client.
Also apparently the reason Max and Lewis arenāt happy about the Lego race is because they feel itās a back door sponsor activity and theyāre not getting paid for it.
thank god max is jesus
max's hatred for lego races is so funny because I genuinely cannot tell what it stems from. you can tell it's not because he finds it boring or anything, he disagrees with lego races on a fundamental level š
