AU - The Ex-Girlfriend
Sakamoto Hana was a simple girl; she liked cute things, pastel colors, rabbits, and chocolate milkshakes with whipped cream. She got good grades and was an exemplary student, popular for her beauty and sweetness; however, that also came with the envy of others—not just her classmates but others as well—and sometimes being treated as if she were perfect was very stressful for her because the only thing boys saw was a pretty face, and the only thing girls saw was someone who was just looking for attention
Meeting Hirose Aiki was a breath of fresh air for her. Hirose was kind without overstepping boundaries, always polite and chivalrous toward her. He saw that she had more to offer than just a pretty face, and that was what made her fall in love with him, but once they were dating, she realized that this boy wasn’t really interested in her but in someone else. She didn’t know that girl—she only knew her name was Nakamura—and inevitably, jealousy set in.
Her surprise didn’t show on her face when she discovered that the girl was actually a boy—a tall boy, with slender, soft hands, ink-black hair, and eyes that—hidden by his bangs—had an almost natural melancholy. She couldn’t help but think, reflect, and accept the unfair reality that she couldn’t hate Nakamura; she couldn’t hate that boy with a sad aura but such a sweet and kind heart. She cried when she got home that day
After breaking up with Aiki, the days became grayer and more monotonous than before. I tried to smile, I tried to feel good, I tried to act normal, and yet... nothing worked.
But... one day...
I went up to the rooftop to be alone; I didn’t want to see anyone. I just wanted peace and to be left to wallow in my sadness. Just as the tears finally fell and my sobs broke free, someone gently touched my shoulder.
A soft, nervous voice spoke to me—a voice I’d recognized the day I decided to let Aiki go, the voice of the person Aiki always looked at.
When I looked up, the blurry image of that boy with sad eyes met my gaze. I didn’t know him, and he didn’t know me, and yet I threw myself into his arms, burying my face in his neck and wrapping my arms around his shoulders. I felt his body stiffen and then, little by little, relax as he wrapped his arms around me and gently rocked back and forth with me.
I think it was that day—the day I decided that Nakamura Okuto was my friend: a shy, slightly clumsy, funny, smart, and very kind boy—a gay boy madly in love with Hirose Aiki, my ex-boyfriend. And I’ll make sure Nakamura ends up with Aiki, however, Hirose Aiki is first going to have to go through hell before I can accept him as Nakamura’s boyfriend.
Or an AU where Hana becomes friends with Nakamura and decides to be the confidante and protector of that boy with the sad eyes, so Hirose will first have to win his approval before he can even think about dating his sweet friend.
